Insurance exists precisely as a loss spreading scheme to protect against things we have no control over as well as things we do have control over.Your distinction that somehow this is special because Blizzard controls the server is a distinction without a difference. Insurance isn't a scam. You might not like it and you may resent being forced to buy into the system but the system itself isn't a scam in and of itself. Its nothing more than loss spreading.
