DC shows off Series 5 figures

Unfortunately, we aren't going to see this for sale for a long, long time -- DC has the date of release set as October 28, 2009. That doesn't really seem right to us (they only want to release four figures this year?), but that's what they say, so we'll go with it. Still, that Illidan figure looks awesome. The Hunter would be cute, and Lo'gosh would be nice to have if you're a fan of the comic book series, but Illidan is definitely the standout so far. Also check out all of our other DC figure galleries after the break.

Sometime in may they're releasing a two-set Merloc figurine, which I saw at NYCC, and it was fantastic. The color was fantastic, and the guy from DC Direct said it was by far the hardest statue he ever worked on, but one of his favorites. "Nice to do something not black or brown," he joked to me.
I'm probably going to splurge for that one.

Rottingham.
...
Did Blizzard just make both a really, really, REALLY bad pun AND reference Robin Hood: Men in Tights?

The fact that they still have yet to make a Thrall or Sylvanas figure makes me a sad panda.

I'm wondering if they don't have a Death Knight in the offing somewhere to go w/ that ghoul. It'd be nice. I get the feeling though that this is the last gasp for the WoW series and that we're just getting the bits and pieces of approved left over designs. I'm fairly certain I've seen this referred to as the "last" wave.

And where the hell is my GNOME MAGE?

its a shame to put such attention to detail but then blow it on illidan's weapons. they aren't to scale.
the in-game warglaives are way bigger.

Of all the versions of Varian they could make, why to choose the gladiator one? I mean, it would be way more awesome if the model was taken from the actual ingame king and not the one in the first issues of the comic. -_-
Which reminds me, Broll looks awful in the game, he must be on a diet or something.

This.
Also another Illidan is a lame cop-out. Gief Arthas/Kael'thas/Kel'thuzad.

Ditto on Varian's sculpt. The best would be two deluxe figures with special bases, Varian in the king's armor with his dual Quel'serrar and Thrall on his throne with the Doomhammer.
As it stands Varian's figure looks like Generic He-Man Ripoff #132. I have the deluxe draenei paladin figure and even though its twice the size as that Varian, the arm muscles (which are large) are nowhere near as ridiculous.
It looks like he strapped a live pig to his chest.
A Kael'thas figure wouldn't be all that exciting, Lich King, definitely, the new Illidan is superior to the first in my opinion.
One thing I wish they would make, as Sideshow Collectibles did with Lord of the Rings structures, have a polystone miniature sculpture of Dalaran floating in the clouds.

Finally a female NElf hunter so 10% of the character base can have a figure like like their toon (yes,I'm one of them).
Granted, the ears are kind of a Nelf/Belf hybrid, I always thought the in-game ears were way too long.

The Nelf hunter is sweet figure, but waiting for my dwarven gunman!

(I apologize in advance for the QQ post. Please do not continue if you do not want to hear ranting)
Once again, the choices they went with fails. Why would you release a reskinned Illidian when there is already an Illidian figure out. There are so many other choices that still can be done. By the time these come out, it would've been 11 months since anyone cared about TBC. I know that Illidian is one of the bad boys of WoW but hes already had his turn. I would've thought that Arthas would be the deluxe sized model.
So this wave, we only get 4 figures and only 1 of which, is a class/race combo figure? I'm still waiting on the main class choices that have yet to come (Human Paladin, Gnome Mage, Dwarven Hunter)
I mean seriously...in the last two waves we've had crap like a wannabe Hogger, a Tuskarr (really? a Tuskarr?), a rerelease, and a ghoul.
Big Ugh
(End Rant)

The figures are lovely, I'm seriously considering splashing out for Broll from Season 4 - even if he is, y'know, a Nelf. WTB a Cow Druid (a Cow anything would be nice - all but one of the player models DC have made that I can see are Alliance. We have a Draenei Pally, Gnome Warrior and Night Elf Hunter and Druid, and (if you include Varian) a Human as well, but only one Troll Priest?)
silentfox Feb 19th 2009 2:32PM
the night elf hunter is pretty ^_^. now they need to make a pretty night elf female rogue with short blue hair and any of the tattoos on her face. her outfit needs to be pretty like the hunter's too.
