I sometimes answer if someone asks in general chat, especially in lowbie areas like elwynn or westfall. At this point in the game though most people are usually leveling alts on my server. You rarely meet really new people.
One thing about the lowbie areas too is that I am less inclined to answer questions in the more advanced areas because they are contested zones and I am usually more concerned about making sure I don't get ganked. Context matters a lot.
