One Boss Leaves: The Commanders take the vote

Commanders Kolurg or Stoutbeard carried this week's matchup by popular decision over contender Erekem. Dissenters made a strong case, though, for the Arakkoa's comeback potential in the likely event that the Commander's Whirlwind took out his guards.
"Anyone who thinks the Commanders would win, clearly hasn't fought Erekem," protests Karilyn, "for one simple reason: when Erekem's guards die, he becomes more powerful than you can imagine. I seriously doubt the Commander would hold back on using Whirlwind, as that's his biggest strength. A quick sacrificial offering of his guards, and Erekem would easily have a significant upper hand."

Vote later today in the next matchup of this season's Two Bosses Enter ... One Boss Leaves.

Its a bummer he lost...
Blizz should have made the bird's mechanic a bit more noticable... Granted the standard strat for boss+adds is "kill adds, kill boss" would make this guy's mecahic noticable... but people learned this one too quickly and he's not even a speedbump in the VH highway

I'll see your stormstrike enrage and raise you two pocket healers with bubbles.

Interesting how the top choice has won every match so far.

With 2 healers I'm sure he could keep himself alive through enrage.

I think alot of people are voting who haven't actually done the encounter. The first time somebody trys this encounter and thinks its a good idea to burn down Erekem's adds they know their mistake immediatly. Its just that so many people never had to figure it our for themselves that they never think about those kinds of things.

Im wondering what the AI the bosses are using when they do "battle".
Is it NPC AI or PC AI?
Also do the bosses know what each boss' abilies are?
Those elements could make a big difference during the battle.

With 2 healers on Stoutbeard (bringing them up to level equivalent) they would still easily be able to keep Stoutbeard up.

Like I said. If you think that you've obviously never fought Erekem before, or at least never did it incorrectly before.
When Erekem enrages, he spams an attack once per second, which would easily two shot the Commander.
I am very dubious that the Commander could be healed through that attack, even if he had 10 healers behind him.
Erekem is like 25 man Patchwerk on steroids if you kill his adds first.

You are also not taking into account that these healers are far superior than any regular healer. If you have ever mced a mob you become envious of the healing and bubbles they are capable of making. Even with the bosses god like frenzy if he doesn't one the command he will be healed and bubbled right back up.

I want to see the King Varian against Thrall. Thrall would own him, I know... I just want to see the king lose.

I got quoted

(Blegh, the rest of my message got cut off, oh well. Replying to myself with the rest of the message)
Wheeee :D
But yeah. Considering Erekem is a randomly encountered boss, and from what I've seen, I seriously doubt more than 30% of the playerbase has fought him...
I blame this death match's results on that.
If Erekem had been a boss you fought every time you went into Violet Hold, and people actually knew his fight mechanics, it probably would have been an easy victory for Erekem in this poll.

Considering I've ran H nexus multiple times and never realized commander stoutbeard was even a boss how does he stand a chance against another boss...
Ahrtard Feb 19th 2009 1:50PM
I think the commander would just fear Erekem's adds and burn him down. I don't think Erekem has a tremor totem.
