Staff changes at WoW Insider

First, departures. Our crafts guru, Shelbi Roach, has moved on leaving us with a wonderful collection of WarCrafts. And BigRedKitty got too big for his Huntery britches and will be focusing on some little-read personal site of his along with a new project he refuses to elaborate on. You can be assured that will include many Top 10 lists.
Now, on to new arrivals. Daniel Whitcomb is moving on from the Hunter weekly column, Scattered Shots, to focus on our Death Knight weekly column, Lichborne. Taking over the reins of Scattered Shots is Jessica Klein aka Lassirra of The Hunter's Mark. Also, the weekly Warlock column, Blood Pact, will be getting a new writer, Nick Whelan from Curse of Senility. They'll both be starting in the next week or so.
Also, new columns have been arriving here at WoW Insider. Raid Rx, our weekly Raid healing blog, has been revived by our Spiritual Guidance writer, Matt "Matticus" Low. Two Bosses Enter, One Boss Leaves, our fantasy Wrath boss deathmatch feature has also returned under the steady hand of Lisa Poisso. And just last month we debuted a new weekly Achievement column written (mostly) by myself.
But wait! There's more! Coming soon to WoW Insider:
- a weekly community blog spotlight
- tips on making gold in game (legally)
- a daily round up of great WoW articles around the blogosphere not written by us!
- new and revised leveling guides (man, Blizzard just can't stop with the sweeping class mechanic changes)

Noooo! Not my BRK!!
The Last Sand Merman Feb 19th 2009 8:04AM
Yeah. =(
Imrere Feb 19th 2009 8:42AM
Is BRK leaving the WoWInsider podcast as well? That would be unacceptable.
Frank Feb 19th 2009 10:57AM
i'm not even a hunter, and i'll miss BRK something terrible. i hope that whatever you have cooking, BRK, is something worth all this.
Kassu Feb 19th 2009 11:02AM
I have never leveled a hunter past level 5 but I shed a silent tear when I read this.
Vendrill Feb 19th 2009 12:55PM
Noooooo!!!!!
Can't we keep our BRK? Can we trade 4 adam holisky's to get our BRK back?
Welcome to the new writers, btw!

"And BigRedKitty got too big for his Huntery britches"
Not sure if that's a joke or not but Mike sure did seem a little pissed with him on the podcast two weeks ago. Lol, plus he 'lost' the intro that BRK sent him. He only managed to give in and agree to play it on the next podcast after people were spamming it in the ustream chat. The podcast always feels a little stale without his personality.
Anyways, with BRK leaving I think I've lost interest in WoWinsider and will try another site. The only other blogger I was really interested in was BigBearButt but haven't seen him post here in ages. Shame as I been following it every day since I picked up TBC on it's release. Avidly too.....ha, during the invasion just before Wrath I was refreshing it and checking it throughout the day. Well best of luck guys :)
Aside: As I'll prob be voted down for my comment I should maybe say that whilst a hunter is my main, I also have a L80 Pally and a DK (but not sure if dk's count, lol).
Psy Feb 20th 2009 12:45AM
While I agree that it's sad BRK is leaving, he DOES have a blog...
http://www.bigredkitty.net/ - And honestly, it's a good blog. Friggin read it.
Galtak Feb 19th 2009 7:07AM
But what we really need is more articles on duel specs.
Tidecaller Feb 19th 2009 7:21AM
Maybe the first Making Gold article can focus on how dual specs will affect the auction house.
Itanius Feb 19th 2009 9:12AM
I welcome our new Duel Specs. Hopefully they compliment the upcoming Dual Specs!
;)
PopeJamal Feb 19th 2009 10:00AM
Dual.
Dual.Dual.Dual. Dual!
Duel = Pistols at dawn
Dual = Two
Ehrm...As for the topic at hand:
BRK has been on the decline since the expansion. You could tell he just wasn't "feeling it" any more. Most of his WOTLK posts have been of the /soapbox or /silly variety. Thanks for all the fish.
"Thanks for reading the site and let us know below what other kind of content you'd like to see here."
Well, since you ASKED:
I Want Less:
-Filler Content. You know, articles like "OMG will GC post in the forums today?" or "Hai Guise! What color are your pants on all of your alts?" Yeah we could use less of that made up "news".
-QQ Content. It's bad enough being surrounded by whiny children in the comments section here and the official forums. It'd be nice to not see entire articles about "how UNFAIR life is because GC asked all the DKs to the prom instead of me. What a Loser!"
I Want More:
-Uh...Editing. Since you stated that you're the editor, I think it would help tremendously if someone actually took the time to proofread some of these articles. Quite honestly, that's why I actively avoid reading ANYTHING on the IGN network. They're editers dont exist or are jest horrible. If I wanted to deal with people with bad grammar all day, I'd hang out at the liquor store.
-Pew.Pew. And more space robots. We've got plenty of room for space robots.
yup Feb 19th 2009 1:22PM
*quote* They're editers dont exist or are jest horrible. *quote*
was that a joke or something?
Ella Feb 19th 2009 7:11AM
Great with new columns. Welcome new contributors to the site.
David Feb 19th 2009 7:31AM
Shame you guys didn't get rid of the guy that writes Guild Watch. Of all the articles on this website this guy doesn't know how to do any journalism. Instead he just receives a tip, and adds it to his articles without bothering to find out if it is true. There have been quite a few guilds in the past few GWs that have had their names insulted with lies because of this column that a simple check on the Realm forums would prove were nothing but lies.
dere Feb 19th 2009 9:16AM
Wow i hope that's a joke? Now Mike isn't the most insightful guy on the WI staff, but it is not his job to make sure that what is posted on the WOW forums is 100% the case he is just reporting what he sees. Maybe instead of crying like a little girl you could tell him what is bugging you instead of saying "doesn't know how to do any journalism."
BTW he is not a journalist he is a blogger, and they do not have to go by the same rules as the NY Times. Also i think you are really putting to much stock into how much power WI or Guild Watch has over the "game."
Mike if i may make a suggestion to help with this type of QQ...maybe make a follow up section to the weeks Guild Watch if there were any big changes, or if a guild would like to defend their "honor" from the slanderous Mike the Flesh Crafter (who is just reporting what he sees.)
You still have my support either way Mike.
PopeJamal Feb 19th 2009 10:39AM
"but it is not his job to make sure that what is posted on the WOW forums is 100% the case"
ORLY??
O.o
:-0
Does that mean that I don't have to worry about the validity of the story I heard about you, that donkey, and the twelve year old Philippino boy???
It's not MY job to make sure what I post about you is true, I'm just reporting what I was told.
Irshalthra Feb 19th 2009 10:40AM
For the record I enjoy Guild Watch. I do NOT have time to scan ALL forums for a good laugh. Having Mike do this and posting for me IF I want to look at it is wonderful.
This is NOT a news organization, it is here for entertained and the wonderful thing about ANY of these articles is...
/whisper "you do not have to read them" /gasp
wersly Feb 19th 2009 9:48PM
@ david
sorry man a trip to realm forums doesnt prove anything its just his against they other guys there is no real way to prove it without screenshots or videos.
dere Feb 19th 2009 1:04PM
Pope - afraid you have us confused when we all know clearly that people of your holy standing love little boys...just saying what i read.
You see what i did there i didn't make crap up but i pulled it from written source. That's the difference between what Guild Watch does and what the dude was claiming. That he is blatantly ripping on people...when the case is he is just forwarding on the THREAD that said it. Again i think it is crap for reporting, but i don't hold Mike to the same standards that i would hold a REAL news outfit too.
