Around Azeroth: The bear necessity
After finishing off their "For the Alliance!" achievement, Xeptor of Area 52 and his comrades just couldn't wait to show off their new bear mounts. So they had an engineer drop a MOLL-E right there in Silvermoon and clustered around the mailbox to pick up the bears for a triumphant ride out of the city. Unfortunately for us schadenfreude fans, while they were all sorting through their mailboxes and mount tabs, a Horde revenge raid completely failed to show up and massacre them. Sometimes life has no sense of dramatic timing. EDITED TO ADD: According to a raid member, the effort was led by Monkeyfoo of <Lost Soldiers of Darkness>, as well as a collection of PUG members. The member added that Monkeyfoo and LSOD pulled off "one of the better Alliance/Area 52 bear runs that I have seen," adding that they patiently explained strategies and even let folks who couldn't participate in killing Thrall due to the Wrathgate chain phasing stay in for the kill. Grats, guys!
Do you have any unusual World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see it on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, double-mounts, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran.Filed under: Screenshots, Around Azeroth, Galleries

I was once in a city-raid. We killed Thrall, Sylvanas and Cairne without a lot of opposition.
But a few seconds after we had pulled Lor'themar in Silvermoon, about 30-50 Horde players rushed out from the chambers in his palace and owned us.
Good times, and proves that people sometimes go to Silvermoon.

Group on our server finished doing 40 man raid of all there cities. They then heard about alliance raiding TB and Org after some recon they found they were on there way to Silvermoon.
And there waited 40 Horde on there new Black war bears. The Alliance was broken within minutes.

This was a fun raid that my guild, Lost Soldiers of Darkness, on Area 52 started and then got great peeps from our friends lists and other guilds in to help fill it up to a 40man. We chose to take longer and not use any of the public channels like trade and such.
It was a great mix of about 25 or so LSoD peeps and folks from other guilds. The run went very smooth. We had no reported deaths from combat with the Horde or Boss/NPC's in any of the cities. We actually hit Thrall first and had him down so fast I was like shocked to hear the achievement ding off when defending the doorway/hall leading to Thrall's chamber. It was then off to UC, TB and then lastly Silvermoon. I had mentioned we take a group picture somewhere like maybe in Dalaran at the Kirin Tor tower, but others came up with a better idea of a picture in the city. I suggested the ramp in Silvermoon leading up to the boss and others said we could drop a Moll-E.
After the boss died, the box dropped and everyone got mounts. It was a blast to see a pic already on wowinsider of our run from one of the participants in another guild... cool to see news travel fast.

I hear that. We hit SW, then IF, then Darn, then Exo - whip out of the ol' MOLL-E, voila! Best 2 year anniv I could have thought of. =)

That is one of the coolest pictures I've seen in this series. I love player organized shots like that.
Also, way to stick it to those stupid Blood Elves.

Here is a link to the picture I had originally sent to wowinsider myself on the night the event happened. It's on Flickr and if you click the all sizes, it has a higher resolution version that is viewable for fun.

Poor Alliance on Smolderthorn have been having a hard time getting For the Alliance... we have a large population of "off-peak" players Horde-side, so Orgrimmar is literally never quiet. Thrall is tough when there are 30 or 40 bored Horde ready to leap to his defense at any given time. :-)

I've made some guildies wait a few for a run through an instance when I start seeing "Orgrimmar is under attack!" spam. All they here in vent is "Nooooooooo!!!!!!! Get away from mah Warchief!"
.......my hearth is set in Org for just such an occasion.

My lock got in on this run and it was alot of fun. I play both Horde and Alliance and its very exciting when you start to raid one of the other side's major cities. Ironforge and Ogrimmar can be very well defended and difficult to get the boss kill depending on your realm.
That one shaman did get it started and helped lead it. It sound's like he was very familiar with the layout of Horde cities and thus was also not afraid at being chatty. It made the raid go along easier and was more fun. Other guilds that used to be on our realm like Raze and such had done this feat near the beginning of the Wrath Expansion. There was another bear run pug that I got into late and only got Ogrimmar and I recall Monkeyfoo was in that run.. and he and many others apparently had done the four city run that night. I guess they wiped in Org first and tried again later.
I hope they get more bear runs together as my sister wants one and on Area 52, it is rare for the Alliance to put together a successful bear run pug that can do Orgrimmar and the other cities.
