Several hotfixes now live
I caught this a bit late, but Bornakk wrote into the Service Status forums Wednesday night to provide a list of hotfixes concerning Jewelcrafting, Shamans, Rogues, and Death Knights that have been applied to the live realms:- Icy Prisms are now unique; they cannot be mailed but can still be traded.
- The Rogue ability Mutilate now does its appropriate damage based on talents.
- Raise Dead now properly detects the presence of Corpse Dust in your inventory.
- The Glyph of Windfury Weapon will not apply additional attack power.
- A Grounding Totem is now properly destroyed even if the grounded spell did not do damage.
- Tremor Totem now properly pulses every 3 seconds.
- Crippling Poison now has a PvP duration of 10 seconds.
- Wound Poison now has a PvP duration of 10 seconds.
Rogues had observed on the forums that Mutilate was doing significantly more damage than was intended by the fix in patch 3.0.9, and that may have been the result of buggy interaction with the Dirty Deeds talent. Glyph of Windfury Weapon had, for a few interesting days, reverted to a beta version granting attack power on Windfury procs. Most of these look like pretty straightforward bug fixes, with the exception of the one concerning Icy Prisms. Much to the everlasting sorrow of my e-wallet, I don't have a Jewelcrafter -- can someone tell me what effect the Icy Prism change is likely to have (if any)?

In 3.1, shouldn't Less-Rabi be easier with a prot pali? Having 2 three second silences from shields should help if it goes live.
DeathPaladin Feb 20th 2009 9:59AM
Theoretically. The thing that makes Less-rabi an achievement is that the cast time gets shorter as he gets lower in health, to the point where it's effectively instant at a certain level.

Mut fix is most welcome. Even poorly geared MUT rogues were putting out some insane burst, most classes had little to no chance once a Mut rogue got on you.

have u seen a ret paly. im a mut rogue and i get one shot by ret palys. blizz thinks rogues are OP oh there wrong.

Well, Blizzard must be doing something right. I figure that if all the classes are complaining, it must actually be fairly balanced. Lets see, we have rogues, paladins, warlocks, and hunters here, so we're off to a good start.
Kanuris Feb 20th 2009 12:07PM
Paladins do not, contrary to what whiners say, have the overpowered amount of tools and burst that other classes have.
Hunters can stunspam and burst at max range, before you close the gap to get in their face they've already violated you.
Mages exhibit huge levels of control and can also blast your face open from max range.
Rogues can dish huge burst, but also become practically immune to magic and dodge most incoming melee attacks on lower cooldowns than Divine Shield. They can also Sprint/Crippling Poison to keep in melee range and stay in it, and choose to reset the entire fight if it's not going so well (Vanish bug/being an idiot and vanishing right next to your enemy not permitting).
Paladins have a 5 minute cooldown immunity shield, a 6 second stun on a 1 minute/30 second cooldown, a 6 second Incapacitate that is broken by Righteous Vengeance. Bubble gimps there damage output, so all it's good for now is cleansing off mass amount of debuffs and healing yourself, giving the ranged class ample time to get back into range and resume the facesmashing burstfest from max range.
I'm in the best pre-raid PvE gear at the moment. I don't have the burst to crush many people within a full hammer of justice unless i've popped wings and trinket and the enemy recieves no heals and is lesser geared than myself.

The change to unique on Icy Prisms is most likely to prevent people from scamming other people. From what I've heard, people that were paying jewelcrafters for their Icy Prism cooldown were getting ripped off because you can open and remove choice gems and still trade it off afterward.
In this case, if the newly created prism was full of good gems, some shadier jewelcrafters would give them one of their older ones that contained 2 crappy gems instead.
It's somewhat surprising that Blizzard would actually step in on something like this, but I'm glad they did.

Anyone else's WoW calendar now giving lua errors? Did something in this hotfix break it?
Several people in my guild have noticed this.
Morkeliph Feb 20th 2009 9:26AM
WTF!? Stop nerfing rogues already!
Was it really necessary to shorten the duration of our poisons?
I don't see them shortening other classes debuffs to 10 seconds...what gives blizzard?
Unfor Feb 20th 2009 9:34AM
TO JUMPER: No class with even a modest amount of resilience is gonna be "one shotted" by a ret pally.
Yes ret pallies are a force to be reckoned with, but not op by any means. Just not the pushover class they were in pvp for three years. I think allot of people are having a bit of a struggle seeing a ret paly and not being able to think .." Ahh free HK"
nbcaffeine Feb 20th 2009 9:34AM
Apparently there are still a few people playing Rogues, and blizzard wants to fix that.
Tythian Feb 20th 2009 10:16AM
Oh BOO HOO
Now maybe you get how it felt to be a Warlock while the nerf hammer was repeatedly being battered over our heads.
Hey noob... Fear... diminishing returns... could have a fear last 3 seconds.. so "waah waah I don't see other peoples debuffs lasting only 10 seconds.. WTF Blizz"
So enjoy your cheesey cloak to shed debuffs, teleports, invis ganking, stun locking, etc etc... at least you are still viable in pvp... unlike Warlocks who suck ass in pvp cause cry babies like you had to whine every day about everything until we got nerf-batted to death
nbcaffeine Feb 20th 2009 10:24AM
Yep, that's exactly whats happening Tythian, I'm definitely not going to argue with you on any of those points. There is a reason that rogues and locks are the lest represented lvl 80s on most realms. They've all gone on to the other OP FoTM.
Kinsbane Feb 20th 2009 10:57AM
I've pretty much given up on my rogue as well. As a pure DPS class, rogues are now a failure. Everyone else has our tricks and abilties, and most can do them faster and more often. I don't get 1-hit by pallies, I get stunnned then 2 hit... Ret Pallies ar Op, just as DK's are. Anyone that says they are not is playing one or not playing at all.
As for the Lock above QQ'n about the nerf hammer... ...I'm forced to agree with him. My main running partner is a Lock and he's considering giving up the toon do to excessive nerf hits. Rogues and Locks are rapidly becoming running jokes.

Good evening my PvE compadres. I now bring to you exhibit A: Posts 11-16 of this thread. The #1 reason why PvP is poison to the game and should be removed A.S.A.P.
Further developments to come later today.
Atomsk Feb 20th 2009 9:31AM
I think that the posion changes to PVP are good for rogues, maybe that means they are willing to find more rule sets unique to PVP and PVE that will let us have more DPS in PVE.
Morkeliph Feb 20th 2009 9:50AM
Are rogues really having PvE DPS problems? I mean, I haven't had any problems maintaining consistently high DPS in OS and Naxx with my HfB spec.
It's frustrating to see blizzard prioritize class balance for PvE far above PvP. It really gives the impression that they don't even care about PvP anymore. I'm willing to bet that more people are pissed than pleased about how they handled the arena rating system and it's new "hidden rating."

Seriously. Just leave the thread now. You don't balance a game around PvP unless that game is PvP focused to begin with. In other words, go play Warhammer if you don't like Blizzard's balancing.

People would create an icy prism, take a look inside them and if they were average gems trade it to someone who paid for a cooldown while keeping their new icy prism, this could all be done infront of the buyer who would never be able to tell.
Honestly, Icy Prisms are a bit of luck, the cost of the mats outweighs the return a lot of the time, it's not the insane moneymaker that most people think.
