Dig Rat Stew easier to acquire in patch 3.1
One of the simpler changes in patch 3.1 is the fact that both factions will be able to purchase the Dig Rat Stew recipe. The Horde from Grub once they've completed the quest (in case you tossed it out on accident), and Alliance players from Prospector Khazgorm in Bael Modan. That's in the Southern Barrens, if you don't frequent that part of the world on your Alliance characters. It's a very small change, but has generated tremendous excitement already. All of the completionists and achievement seekers around the world jumped for joy in unison. Yet another recipe that may have been out of reach is now very easily acquired. I don't often bend over backwards for achievements so this change didn't really blow my mind like it did for Danny, but I admit it'll be pretty funny to take my Priestess down to Bael Modan and learn the fine art of cooking with rats.
You know, this gives me a good idea for Well Fed Buff...

Realm First Grand Master Chef made me a cooking whore. I'm only missing this and Dirge's Chops. This made me really happy, gonna have to grind some Brood rep for the Dirge recipe though!

As far as I can tell, I'm only missing Dirge's Kickin' Chimerok Chops. It took me every other recipe I could find in order to get the achievement (including this one).
I wonder what recipe you have that I'm missing...?
Kolo Feb 24th 2009 4:51PM
I have 161 recipes and 2 I'm missing.
I'm a rogue, so I get 1 extra.
Bob Feb 25th 2009 3:55AM
Rogues don't get 1 extra anymore. The thistle tea recipe can be bought by anyone now.

Incorrect. Read WoWhead comments...it was once available to non-rogues.

When you whack the Dig Rats sometimes you'll knock one unconscious and loot his lifeless body instead of the meat. Instant Dig Rat on right click!

I want an npc to sell all of the quest recipes if I have done the appropriate quest. And maybe an npc to sell me the Alliance ones too.
duskhawk Feb 24th 2009 2:59PM
I still have an unconscious dig rat in my warrior's bank. >.> It would be great if it were a lasting pet.
peagle Feb 24th 2009 3:01PM
Dig rats remain the only lootable critter in the game, iirc.
SaintStryfe Feb 24th 2009 3:02PM
Zul'drak Rats?
Marysia Feb 25th 2009 2:02AM
There are also the Giant Marsh Frogs in Dustwallow Marsh for the Swamplight Manor quest. (I think they can only be looted while on the quest though.)
Kajira Feb 28th 2009 3:58PM
And the frogs for the troll in Howling Fjord.
Todd Feb 24th 2009 3:14PM
Lame. Part of the challenge was making a Horde toon just to get the recipe.
Dukah Feb 24th 2009 3:48PM
Yeah, I did that too.
I've got all 161 recipes too :)
Though, this makes the 160 recipe achievement a little easier for everyone...
Todd Feb 24th 2009 3:59PM
True.
Hmm, you must have gotten pretty far with the Scepter quest-line.
Todd Feb 24th 2009 3:59PM
Well, either that... or you're a rogue.
subtotal Feb 25th 2009 1:12AM

Yeah, now let's hope the 3 Alliance quest only recipes and how many other Alliance purchasable only are sold in every Horde city.
Yes, that did sound bitter, because I am.
Tsark Feb 25th 2009 12:16PM
I have to agree with you - why does it always have to feel Blizz caters more to Alliance players than Horde ones? They get a lot more recipes as reward from quests, most of which they can also buy in Stormwind. As Horde, we had two recipes that came from quest, and now one of them is available to Alliance simply from a vendor....
Gemini Mar 1st 2009 1:16AM
The Alliance-only recipes are all available from vendors so it's a simple matter of people using the neutral auction houses to transfer them Horde-side. Dig Rat Stew was an entirely different matter, because you could only ever have one recipe per toon, so it was definitely more of an effort for an Alliance toon to get that recipe than for a Horde to get the Alliance vendor ones.
QQ more.
