New dungeon maps on the patch 3.1 PTR

They obviously use the same style as all of the other in-game maps, with labels of each area and concept art of the dungeon itself behind each layout. But here's something we didn't expect: each map has a skull placed where the bosses are, so with just a glance at the map you can see where the big bad guys are found. Right now, obviously, we know where they all are, but that will be interesting when maps of future instances become available.
And right now, on the world map, areas get drawn in as you discover them, but we'd guess that these maps will be opened up as soon as you enter the instance (you don't discover parts of an instance, you discover the whole thing). It'll be interesting to see, next time we explore some new instanced content, just how these maps can affect gameplay.

Anyone know if they'll make it retroactive to old dungeons? How about the Deeprun Tram? It'd be nice to see that with a map. If they added coords, Nauticus could FINALLY track the trams.
So......what will happen to our beloved Atlas? Use it as secondary maps? At least the bosses don't look clickable, so AtlasLoot is still very viable.

It has always bothered me how dungeons never had maps...I mean come on...old world dungeons like WC and BRD were freaking labyrinths worthy of and MC Escher painting, and you had no why in-game of knowing wtf you were and wtf you were even doing.

I think the logic was that dungeons were unexplored frontiers where people hadn't been to draw up maps. It made dungeons more exciting, but I am glad for actual maps now. :)

It's not certain that instance maps will be drawn instantaneoulsy when you enter the dungeon. It might just work the Ultima Underworld way. That is, the maps are only inked in once you have the corresponding places in your field of vision for the first time. Not that it matters, of course, since various addons will release us from these exploring duties.

Will we be able to open our map and see player icons running around the map? What are these maps for, if not?

I think so. I've seen a few screenshots with players dots on them.
See the player arrow in the center of this one, for example:

But do you get a blip for yourself and/or groupmates?
Also, did they add in a positioning system that is accessible (coords)?
