New pets and mounts found in the patch 3.1 files
MMO-Champion strikes again! So far they've already brought us undocumented changes and glyph information from the patch 3.1 PTR; now we have a whole long list of new non-combat pets and mounts. I'm pretty excited about the Enchanted Broom, myself, as far as the pets go, and...what's that? "Rideable mechanical gnome head?" Holy cats, I gotta get me one of those. Disclaimer: this is data files stuff. Some of it may change, and some may never surface at all.

Aquatic only mount? Is this new?
Jamesisgreat Feb 24th 2009 11:20AM
Yeah - I guess this could be in preparation for the suspected next xpac of the Maelstrom?
jurandr Feb 24th 2009 11:25AM
Looks like we all get to be druids now :)
Stormscape Feb 24th 2009 11:49AM
My money is on Maelstrom being the mysterious and enigmatic Patch 3.2
BulletzBill Feb 24th 2009 12:15PM
well seeing as how regular mounts will be able to swim at run speed in 3.1, its only natural to make a mount specifically for water use that will swim at mount speeds. :-)
Retron Feb 24th 2009 12:39PM
@Stormscape I'll take that bet!
If Maelstrom is the next expansion, that'll make it 4.0. I tend to doubt they'd waste the opportunity on a mere patch. I do agree about the aquatic mount being related, as I had predicted a Maelstrom exp would feature hybrid flying/aquatic mounts.
Don't forget also though, that in 3.1 all mounts are supposed to swim now I believe, just really slowly.

Lol @ Mimiron's Head
Mattimus Feb 24th 2009 4:36PM
You just know, from the name of it, that it's going to be a super rare 310% mount that drops from Mimiron in Ulduar.
Oh well. It still looks hilarious.

Also lol'd hardcore.

It kind of looks like a convertable version of night owl's ship in Watchmen.

Is it me or does that mount look....Uldar-y? and not Gnomish-y?
Chris Anthony Feb 24th 2009 1:27PM
Kevin, yes, it's probably a Titan construction and not what we think of as Gnomish. There's a quest chain starting at Fizzcrank Airstrip that involves an ancient mechano-gnome turning gnomes into robots by "removing the Curse of Flesh" and that implies that gnomes were Titan-built constructs before they turned into fleshy creatures, well before recorded history began: http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=11707

A lot of the pets seem to have to do with springtime. I think they'll probably come from the Noblegarden event somehow.
I really hope those mounts are permanent, and that maybe they will have cool city crest regalia of some sort, especially if they are rewards from the Argent Tournament stuff!
Maralach Feb 24th 2009 11:11AM
most likely most of the pets and mounts are gained through the Argent tournament. However, at least 4 pets are in fact part of Northrend Childrens week. it seems we get to babysit either a wolvar or a Gorloc, and get also one of those as a reward. nice!
CW Feb 24th 2009 12:16PM
interesting take...that would mean 3.1 goes live before Children's Week.
Also, I didn't see Noblegardens on the in-game calendar. Could Argent Tournament be replacing it, and 3.1 comes out next month?
How long are PTR's typically up before patch goes live?
themightysven Feb 24th 2009 10:52PM
@CW Noblegarden is only on Easter Sunday. it is on the calendar, just there's Darkmoon and Stranglethorn Fishing going on at the same time
