New pets and mounts found in the patch 3.1 files
MMO-Champion strikes again! So far they've already brought us undocumented changes and glyph information from the patch 3.1 PTR; now we have a whole long list of new non-combat pets and mounts. I'm pretty excited about the Enchanted Broom, myself, as far as the pets go, and...what's that? "Rideable mechanical gnome head?" Holy cats, I gotta get me one of those. Disclaimer: this is data files stuff. Some of it may change, and some may never surface at all.

I wonder if these monts will have race restriction, like "Swift Stormwind Steed" for human, "Forsaken Warhorse" for undead...
Carda Feb 24th 2009 11:18AM
After they just removed all the race restrictions from the basic land mounts? I kinda doubt it. Of course, it's Too Soon To Tell just yet.
I'm hoping that we get a chance to earn several (if not all) of those pets/mounts from the Tournament... It'd kinda suck for the hardcore collectors if we were stuck with just one of each from the entire event...

You'll earn them via the argent tournament and they will invariably have a faction level restriction, just like current mounts. So each faction can earn 1 mount per capital for their faction (5?). You can also see 1 mini pet per capital in the list also.
CW Feb 24th 2009 12:16PM
These are either rewards from Argent Tournament, or just the combat mounts for Argent Tournament. Restriction will not be race, but which city you declare for the tournament.
I'm going to guess both, these are the combat mounts, and you get a non-combat version for completing the achievements for a particular city.
Also, I'm guessing that the new banners are flow while you are riding your mount (and can be turned off like helms and cloaks). This could possibly be worked in like rep tabards for mounted daily quests (or vehicle battles in raids).
Tushar Bharadia Feb 24th 2009 12:16PM
Might sound a bit far fetched, but they could be replacement rewards from the For The Alliance/Horde achievements, you get sent the mount corresponding to your race.
Upon reflection, however, I suppose they'd be linked to the new world event.

Maybe if you hit exalted with a faction you get a mail from the faction leader with the item. Ding exalted, get a mail from Mangi, "Congratulations, you're fame with the Dwarves of Ironforge is well spread. This ram is a prize for your loyalty to the great forge. Interest ya in a pint?"
Tim Feb 24th 2009 3:59PM
@Tushar Bharadia:
I've been quietly hoping they would add drop mounts from each of the faction leaders. Kill Thrall get a wolf for loot, Kill Varian and get a horse for loot.
I know it's unlikely, but If they did that with this patch I'd be very happy.

a lot of those mounts sound like they're related to the Argent Crusade thing...with the mounted combat and all. Would be nice if we get to keep them/buy them later
jurandr Feb 24th 2009 11:17AM
I worry about these new city-based mounts. Are they replacing the old faction mounts, or just being added on? I rather like my orange armored raptor....
Also, I fully intend to get that gnome's head. I don't care WHAT it takes, I will have it!
jurandr Feb 24th 2009 11:29AM
EDIT I'M STUPID
I just saw mmo-champion
* The ability to prove your worth to a capital city of your choosing through our new mounted combat system (still in development)
*All new rewards - new items, titles, banners, tabards, pets, mounts, and more.
That will likely explain the city-based mounts.
The aquatic mount is probably for this argent tournament thing too, but I wouldn't know since I don't play on the PTR
rosencratz Feb 25th 2009 8:07AM
No the aquatic mount is probably just that, they said a while ago that such a thing might be coming along.
Hopefully it'll inexpensive and tied to Kalu'ak rep as i'm already exalted
Malkia Feb 24th 2009 11:17AM
Wait what..aquatic mount?
Carda Feb 24th 2009 11:20AM
That caught my eye, too... Makes me wonder if they're going to get some use out of the waters north of Icecrown after all...
Drakkenfyre Feb 24th 2009 11:19AM
"Murkimus the Gladiator" is the armored Murloc pet from the Arena Realms.
BobTGnome Feb 24th 2009 11:27AM
He's being given away for a prize in the EU I believe. That'll be the model for those that win him. Scott and Randy were raving about him on The Instance,
BobTGnome Feb 24th 2009 11:31AM
or is it in fact an arena tournament prize and i should pay attention to what I am typing?
Drakkenfyre Feb 24th 2009 12:10PM
"He's being given away for a prize in the EU I believe. That'll be the model for those that win him. Scott and Randy were raving about him on The Instance,"
He might be given away as a prize, but he's also being given away on Arena realms.
MechChef Feb 24th 2009 11:21AM
Hmm, I wonder the new racial mounts will work. You can already buy other mounts if you're exalted.... Maybe it's racial specific. very interested.
Ves Feb 24th 2009 11:20AM
The only thing that confuses me here is that every other race has a single starter zone pet, but there's a Sen'jin Fetish and a Darkspear Strand Crawler that both seem Troll-related.
thisguy Feb 24th 2009 11:35AM
That's cuz Trolls rule XD
