if you are aff spell hit helps but isn't the gospel it once was until you get to the later stages of 25 mans. in heroic pre naxx gear each pnt of hit provide .5 less dps per point then spell power the reason being is that recasting a missed spell usually only takes you a 1.5 gcd to recast(with a few exceptions) dest and demo do not benefit from this efficiency.. but that doesn't mean ignore hit...its just not your main concern when you begin
