Update to the WoW Insider Guide to Patch 3.1

- New dual spec information
- Mana replenishment changes
- Ulduar previews
- PTR information
- The Argent Tournament
So we've done a big update to the WoW Insider Guide to Patch 3.1. You'll find all of our 3.1 information categorized and indexed in easy to reference locations, and we're adding new stuff to it every day. And with as big as Patch 3.1 is becoming, it should prove quite useful to keep track of everything that is changing in the game.
We're also keeping an up-to-date and easy to reference list of exactly what's been posted today. You can find that list near the bottom of the guide.

There's a few new video options, one of which is "Projected Textures". Also, the main slider now has Ultra, one step higher then High.
The tooltip for Projected Textures says to disable them for better preformance, but when the main slider is set to Ultra (which says it is for the very best computers, even better then High needs), Projected Textures is off. When it's set to high, Projected Textures is on.
I'm toggling Projected Textures on & off in various zones and I don't see any change... Anyone know what it does?

May the grim reaper determine your life pointless, and as he slices you in twain he whispers in your ear "..first".
On topic, I am most eager to hear about more new recipes, and possibly how mountable "constructs" are going to work.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the addition of Instance Maps - I've been waiting for this for YEARS.
pwkalt1 Feb 24th 2009 2:42PM
wait, there are maps for instances in 3.1?
are.....
are you sure?
This sounds too good to be true.

@pwkalt1:
Look at the 17:55 update at the mmo-champion 3.1 Patch Notes post. There is another section about it sneaked in between New Mounts/Pets and Glyph Changes. I guess other people are just excited about mechanical changes, but I was just lamenting the lack of dungeon maps yesterday to another long-time player. Now if only vanish worked...

Superthrust Feb 24th 2009 2:28PM
I'm sorry, but you Lie sir... (As of 2:26 EST, that is...)
Anyways, i cannot copy my character and its telling me that the queue is locked...thanks alot useless people who just join the ptr, play for 2 hours, then leave their character dead with the name "LOLiRdead" in front of org...
Anyone know how the queue is on the actual server's login?
nbcaffeine Feb 24th 2009 2:33PM
No queue to login, i rolled a lvl 1 to hoof it to SW to see anything interesting while i wait for my mains to be copied, it was a bore.
Shade Feb 24th 2009 2:36PM
@Superthrust Looks like they filled again. :/ At least I got mine over - hooray, new things to play with!
Superthrust Feb 24th 2009 2:47PM
@Shade - ~sniffle~...and you will play without ME?!
Anyways, im horde...and assuming it will let me online (I recently quit my gaming correspondent job at MMORPG.com, and they paid my subscription fee), I will be online and interviewing some players about what they like and dislike about the patch, and what they would like to come...

I think its funny how people get so upset when someone posts 'first' in the comments section of a blog about a video game. Really? Do you come to the comments section for the wonderful insight? They are entertainment, nothing more. Half the people on here don't know what they are talking about, and to take them all seriously is a diagnosable disorder I believe.
May the grim reaper determine your life pointless, and as he slices you in twain he whispers in your ear "..NERD"!

@Otool
I didn't realize people repetitively posting "first" was entertaining, I'll make a note.

PTR 1 - Me 0
PTR is quite unstable at the moment....I am finding.
The respec is interesting, if not bit, er..how does this work, at the start. Very buggy though. My current druid is now unplayable as the talents got corrupted. I think it gave me 1 too many points and now it crashes every time I open the talent window.
Be a great market for glyphs again on launch, as you need a whole new set.
There is a "preview talent" option (oh, yes!) but you must explicitly go turn it on in the interface options.
The Gear Manager (again, you need to turn it on) is good idea, but doesn't let you see the items in each set, or as far as I could see it doesn't tell which set an item belongs to. Could be sticking with Outfitter unless they improve it.
As far as I got before it crashed and burned and the servers went down...gl
