Okay, I know you don't quite see the point of Death Strike, but here's my thought on it... when I have a lack-luster healer in my guild trying to keep me alive, I don't use Scourge Strike... I use Death Strike to heal myself for 4k every other cooldown...
With it's buffs, it just might heal me for 5-6k now in the cycle, and without having to refresh diseases (pest in place of two GCDs and a trade of ONE Blood for One Plauge/One Frost) then from a tanking standpoint (Leothas, Patchwerk, etc) then a self heal for 5-6k as well as a hit for 8-9k isn't bad... assuming the buff math is accurate (and glyphed.)

Death Strike is for tanking, especially Blood Tanking. Damage increase = threat increase = Happy Blood Tanks.
