WoW Patch 3.1 PTR Warrior changes
I want you to try and remain calm, okay? I know as warriors you're crazy excited for all the twists and turns for the class on the PTR. While I can't hit all of the highlights, I can give you a taste.Warrior
- ARMS
- Blood Frenzy improved to 2/4% increased damage.
- Heroic Throw missile speed increased.
Now's a good time to remind everyone that these patch notes are not in any way, shape or form complete, and that there will almost certainly be more changes. We've already seen posts from Ghostcrawler indicating that a lot more than this was in the works, so we can consider these changes just preliminary.
So why just roll these two out for warriors? Both are good changes, it's true, but when some classes are seeing major overhauls these look rather paltry. What's going on?
It seems that Arms is a major focus for the dev team for 3.1, for one thing. It makes sense that they might want to roll those changes out more slowly, especially if they're more major changes to the spec than we might otherwise expect. Changing arms without buffing fury accidentally has been stated to be a big priority to them so far so we'll see how that shakes out.
In addition, they're still discussing how to make the new stance system work. Since they haven't decided how that's going to work, it's not surprising that we don't see it rolled out on this patch.
For warriors this is a very preliminary patch, all told. Sunder hasn't been changed, the changes to rage generation through shields don't seem to be there (I didn't see them under the priest notes either) so I'm fairly sure we're going to see a lot more for warriors when all is said and done here. The PTR is dropping in stages this time, we have to keep that in mind.
Edited to Add: MMO-Champion has posted some undocumented changes to warriors.
- Wrecking Crew (Tier 10) now states that it no longer stacks with enrage.
- Titan's Grip (Tier 11) now reduces physical damage you deal by 10%.
- Sunder Armor now reduces target's armor by 4% per application. Stacks up to 5. (Previously reduced armor by a set amount)
Patch 3.1 brings us Ulduar, dual specs, significant changes to all the classes, and more! We've got you covered from top to bottom with our Guide to Patch 3.1.

Making furies completely scale dependent turns our enjoyment of PVE into a day at the roulette table...better hope you get lucky and outroll the 8 dps superior dks in your raid...not to mention the fact that anyone unlucky enough to be even slightly less than complete naxx 25 geared before the ulduar patch will have to depend on the kindness of fellow raiders to even include them in the new runs. Years of experience has shown me that gamers, even guildies for that matter are not known for their charity.

I watch fury warriors do tremendous amounts of damage in pve. Like, far out dps everything but DK's kind of damage. A loss of dps may make those of you obsessed with recount sad, but you should remain competitive without any issues. And if there is a 10% buff to berserker damage, then your dps will go nowhere. (depending on what if anything happens to the crit bonus) Never mind you'll rip aggro less off your tanks when you go early nuke aoe happy to pump your dps meter.
Heck, in the supposed dark ages of pre-patch BC, i could do competitive damage as fury using a single (gasp, only one?) two handed weapon.
Play better, stop caring about recount, enjoy the teamwork part of the game that is groups and raids.

I han't played since before BC, but am going to be starting up again and am trying t brush up on my warrior knowledge.
How much of a damage increase percentage would you guys say TG gives a fury warrior over using 1h weapons w/ the PTR nerf?

I am fairly new to the game, my first toon to reach 70. i love the game and love PVP and have had a tough time being a warrior, because of the fact we have to get up close.
ive recently have set up my toon (triper) as a kind of hibrid between having all non-sheild related prot specs and all dps gear with some initial fury specs. I did this because having already tried all three trees, i saw that i would survive much better with protection, and would do better having the stun ability and having charge usable in all stance and in battle, i find this to be an advantage to get upclose. I am wondering what u verterans think of this?

can someone explain this to me:
i suck as warri and i am told: " yes, you do suck, but thats just becounse of your incredile scaling, just w8 for better gear and u will outdamage everything"
finally i get good gear, scale with it, and then im just nerfed to the others level again.
wheres the sense. just lower the scaling and make warris fun to play at every gear level just like every other class.
btw titans grip is a big shit.
when a pally or DK gets, lets say, BoH. they have the best weapon and here they go.
when TG warri gehts BoH the have just half of their weapons at max ^.^
so titansgrip does not raise our damage. it just raises the itemcost to get the same damage.
and it is the same damage, because of the nerfes we get when we finally scaled.
i dont understand. explain please explain !

Not happy with the TG changes as well. But did anyone read the undocumented changes to glyphs. Warrior glyphs as is are not impressive. The heroic strike glyph is nerfed. Now, HS will become a black hole of rage instead of a simple rage sink. But what I love is looking at the DK glyphs. Such nifty new love for an already overpowered class, nice.

This nerf is like a blow to the face, followed by a facial tease of a possible 10% more dmg in berserker stance, but if we lose the 3% crit chance that will really be a bit of a pain :-\. 10% physical dmg nerf is to all of our moves because we are iron juggernauts, gods of the every weapon, physical attacks are our only attack, if any melee class should be nerfed, nerf the holy dmg of divine storm, like having a pyroblast on demand. This nerf will affect our whtie hits, our yellow, our precious heroic strike rage dump, even wirlwind, and how we make milkshakes with it! If anything gets fully tested on ptr, Blizz will realize that that need to reduce the nerf to 2% or better yet don't mess with it, sure we scale with higher gear, but hey I'm sorry that the good dps warriors that are good dps are competent enough to go elitestjerks.com and read about their class and get their optimum stat set-up, and dps rotation, and if Ghostcrawler keeps saying warriors are doing 10-15% more dps then any other class, then he needs to get his punk a** out of 5 man heroics with 4 under geared scrubs including himself and 1 full tier 7.25 duel wield BoH fury warrior and test the classes dps with equally geared players in a raid enviorment, I also fear for his life, because there will come a point when 300 warriors will storm the Blizz department he is working at and kill his *ss and be done, heck I hope someone offs the fool, that's one less idiot in Blizzards organization to deal with. Warriors For the mutha f**king win!!!!

The Prot Warrior - Much better than they used to be and I think the AoE buffs were just added prior to wrath because Blizz knew how OP dk's were going to be. It's not bad at the moment but AoE compared to DK's/Pallys is still a bit stupid, my tab key still gets a lot of use.
The Fury Warrior - WoW we get to do decent damage on gimmick fights like Thaddius and Loatheb and then if were lucky on some other fights we get to compete with other DPS classes, I don't know where Blizz get the idea that if a warrior starts doing more damage then they need a nerf.
The Arms Warrior - Awesome just before Wrath and then basically got nerfed to the crap house, has been almost useless unless your walking around in the best gear in the game.
DK's - I'm not one for saying every class and spec should be able to duel and compete 1v1, however a geared DK vs a geared DPS warrior is almost laughable. The only chance I got against a DK is if I'm prot and even then if I come across a blood DK I just got to hope he's bad.
Stances - Get rid of the stance penalty's once and for all, I don't know any other class that get penalised in the way warriors do. If I want to kill something and use my CD's in Zerker I have to be very careful because Reckless + Death Wish + Zerker is almost suicidal. We already get rage penalty's for changing stances, what does a DK get? oh they lose a Rune... WOW.

Ok so I wouldn't really consider myself a WOW blogger, but I am here for one purpose, and one purpose only:
Blizzard (and dear God I hope one of their employees hears my plea) WTF have yall been thinking over the past ummm 6-7 years?? I have been a dedicated Blizzard fan since my youth, I have been a Diablo I fan since the beginning, and subsequently a great Diablo II fan. Any half-intelligent fanboy of Blizzard will realized that the above 2 titles is what really sky-rocketed Blizzard studios (with the exception of Starcraft). The reason I am mentioning such titles is because Blizzard used to make games geared for gamers - In Diablo 2, Blizzard gave the players a game in which in turn the players then created their own economy (for D2 players out there, they know about those Ist runes ;) ). There was no GM's to go an cry to, no constant patches
Now to my actual point. These days we see that Blizz is SELLING OUT *** Thats right, I said it - you would be ignorant to ignore such. Instead of making games geared toward GAMERS, they jus want to increase sales, gearing WoW towards any shmuck who can click his numpad and mouse. They are tailoring towards their golden boy class - the pally, which a 6 yr old can play as an still dominate, and on top of that, they have their new fav - the Death Knight, what a joke. Blizz why are you forgetting about your core players? the players that supported you in the early days before you became a fatcat ? The players which chose to play a more challenging class - The Warrior, and specifically the Fury Warrior.
I have a 76 Fury Warrior and it is depressing to know that with this patch instead of givin the warriors the boost in which they desperately need, they nerf us...WTF, honestly. Everyone should realize in your BG's you only see maybe 2-3 Warr's (including Horde and Allys) while seeing 5/6/7+ DK's. Even if Blizz turned around an gave Fury Warrs a +10% dmg bonus, we still wouldnt even come close in overall power to Blizz's golden boy, the Ret Pally. If this continues, so will the progressive decline of my faith in Blizzard.
Sending my regards,
Vikhyat, 76 Fury Warrior (and proud of it, ... for now)

Seriously, Blizzard, PLEASE stop listening to the QQers on the forums. You are hamstringing your own game every time those same crying babies go to the forums and whine and plead for other classes to be nerfed (not their class of course), and then you decide that you need to listen to their crying instead of ignoring the babies like you should be. QQers: if you think that other classes are more powerful than your class, try playing them. Youll quickly realize thats not actually the case as its likely that the "op" class you were whining about 10 sec ago might be the intended counter to your class not just op godness you though it was before. All this crying and hand wringing is gonna kill this game. Especially if Blizzard doesnt take a stand at some point and stand up to these idiots. Noones seemingly gonna be happy till all the classes are the exact same, and WoW is just levelled counterstrike. Then they'll nerf the levelling system, and the only difference will be the race colors. then thatll get nerfed too.
hiyaa Mar 30th 2009 1:19PM
ok first off, i am not a warrior, so i may be completely wrong... but didnt titans grip used to reduce chance to hit? making our fury warr in my guild stack +hit gems and enchants. if this new change makes it only 10% less dmg.. could he just throw in some +str gems and still dominate our dps charts???
also @ vikhyat, calling ret pallys blizzards golden boy after saying youve been a die hard blizz fan boy for 6 years almost offended me.
i was ret in the days of lolret. and pvp gear with out resil, and years spent in lfg. while all you arms war ran around with droods in arenas and /lol at me. please stop whining cuz i rolled a pally i love my pally and think warrs are bad ass too. if i made another itd be a warr for sure.
PEACE DOODS

What is the best talent for a dps warrior
