Btw according to that wikipedia article on Eternal Darkness (and a source) Nintendo has a patent on sanity mechanics in a video game. I read the patent and I dont think this qualifies but the it does seem like the end of medal gear solid 2 does (when the game is trying to trick you to powering down your ps2 and playing with the volume).
