New Ulduar video from Blizzard
Ulduar is here, and Blizzard has released a new video you can watch above. We see new mobs and animations, get a look at Freya and some vehicle combat, and see some absolutely stunning interiors of the new raid zone.
The video lasts just under 2 minutes, and is worth your time to take a look. There is also some Blizzard music along with it, so be sure to have your sound turned up a bit. You can download high resolution versions of the video from Blizzard.
Perhaps the coolest thing in the video is around the 1:20 mark where we see a new tram style monorail (cue the Simpson's song). There are also very interesting stain glass like windows shown at the end.
Ulduar represents the latest in Blizzard's dungeon making and artistic design, and by the looks of it they're poised to create one helluva masterpiece.

I may be missing something here, so sorry for being a noob. But why are the old gods evil? Didn't they create Azeroth? Where's there a good place to look up that info?
Bloodieros Feb 25th 2009 3:42PM
The Old Gods and their Elemental Lieutenants (include Ragnaros) ruled Azeroth prior to the coming of the Titans. By all accounts they were extremely evil (just look at C'Thun for an example). However for more reading, check out WoWWiki:

So... why does this take place in Hollow Bastion from Kingdom Hearts 1?
The music is almost note for note the same.
Graham Feb 25th 2009 6:27PM
Just looked up the Hollow Bastion music. It's vaguely similar, and it is trying to convey similar emotions, but it is far from "note for note the same."

That tram gives me an idea for an epic boss - imagine, right as the tram hits full speed, a huge boss jumps onto it, and it becomes a high-speed boss fight, where you have to kill the boss before the tram reaches the end of the track or the train runs straight into a wall and you all die!

That would make for one hell of a fun rage timer to beat =)
epsilon343 Feb 25th 2009 4:48PM
I'd prefer timers like that. I kinda grow of tired of the, hit him for 5 minutes before he grows tired of us and hits us really hard.
Piklez Feb 25th 2009 5:26PM
No dialogue... o well, at least they showed us four bosses (maybe five... the bubbling floor looks very ominous...)

So.. awesome vid.
But, if Azeroth is that planet in the observatory, why aren't Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms on opposite day/night cycles?
machoflaco Feb 25th 2009 6:18PM
I love it, looks awesome!
Dr Jekyll Feb 26th 2009 12:54AM
I know it's sad but my main interest is seeing if there's anything on the back side of the Azeroth globe, I'm sure there isn't but you never know.

I'm calling it now. Maelstrom is the next xpac. Two new playable races. Horde get to be Naga, Aliance get to be whatever Blizzard decides to call the MerPeople in the stained glass windows.

/sigh
More scripted fights that can be done by 5 year olds and a blind dog. Oh look here come mob one and two exactly at 1:14 of said instance , oh look out here comes (insert ability here) at 30 secs of said fight. When is Blizz gonna learn that pandering to the very few *whiners* that they might just alienate those that came from vanilla wow and or EQ where there were/are 'death penalties'...I mean my serious question is when is this game ever gonna be a challenge again? Here is a suggestion : Make end game instances with penalties, yea even a death one, re: if you die you cannot do 'again' until 7 days like the retarded 'hatching' CD of some egg some where. Make fights and trash mobs a little tougher and less set in stone scripted , more random. For those of you that say that is impossible you just proved you rolled within the last year at best with the release of TBC. Really blizz what gives? Old Naxx was a site tougher than new Naxx , TBC was a laugh riot kindergarten-fest of too many noobs strokin undeserved epeens.
Seriously if you can rifle through content in three days (our first server 80) then something is not right. If all the so-called raid content has been finished already in WoTLK then something is wrong. If people clear this tonight (Ulduar) and or before the end of the week , yup, something is wrong.
Less than 2% of all players play arena but if they whine they get what they want. Less than 2% of PvE players whine for nerfs but it seems they get them too. At my three accounts and some characters older than some players I think my voice counts too. Put away the nerf stick and put away the pre-school level learning curve in content. Please for the enjoyment of the majority.

"Horde get to be Naga, Aliance get to be whatever Blizzard decides to call the MerPeople in the stained glass windows."
This comment only supports my theory that most players rolled in the last year or so. FYI 'naga' are and once were Night Elves and or Highborne back when they were still 'together'. Azahara was their queen yes a 'elf'. OMG have none of you played beofre TBC ? Or even seen an old RTS version of this game? Sorry really for double post.
