Petopia down, working on getting back up

You may have noticed in the past day or so, as a few of our tipsters did, that Mania's great Hunter pet site, Petopia, has been down for the count lately. Loading up the main page gives the message above, and going straight to the redirect gives a "this site has been suspended" notice.
But don't worry -- Mania says over on her forums that she's aware of the issue and working on it. It's an issue with the site host, and not any sudden plan on her part to dismantle the site (good thing, too, because losing two great WoW community sites this week would be too much for us).
So hopefully, the problem will be solved soon and the database will be back up and running. We'll keep you posted if there are any more problems, but don't panic, Petopia is not gone forever.

Why does everyone keep accusing Wowinsider posts of suffering from "slow news days"?
This isn't a new site, it's a blog site. They can post whatever the hell they feel like.

The URL is petopia.brashendeavors.com, not just petopia.com and the site is working fine on an alternate URL wow-petopia.com

Mania mentioned on her Mania's Arcania site that you can use wow-petopia.com as a mirror to her brashendeavors site.

Hunter Question:
Anyone else notice that when you dismount and immediately begin attacking a target, your pet sometimes spawns at 50% heatlh?
WTF is that all about?

I have noticed it too. Seems very inconsistent too, almost like the cower/charge bug or like my gorilla just standing there after a mob dies.
Hunter pets in general have just been weirdly bugged lately.

It's apparently the small amount of time when all the stamina and other 'buffs' applied to the pet by the hunter, or anyone in the party, kick in. It shows up at half health because your presence ups its stamina by that much.

Aye. Your pet has base stats, and then it inherits a certain amount of your stats to add to those base stats. This is calculated when the pet spawns (after being called, after you dismount, etc.). Once the bonuses are applied, the health total is then adjusted to fill the new max health.
There is a slight delay between the time when the pet spawns and the time when the calculated stat bonuses are applied. This delay can be exaggerated if "stuff" is going on, such as when you are in combat. In extreme, or extremely unlucky, circumstances, it seems that the process can be truncated before the final step - the addition of the new health to the pet. That is, the health bar is increased appropriately based on the stats the pet inherits from you, but the actual amount of health the pet has is not updated.

People on my server last night were saying it's been shut down for good, but this obviously isn't the case. Unfortunately, when things like this happen they may not recover from it.
