WoW Rookie: Tips from WoW, Casually
New around here? WoW Rookie points WoW's newest players to the resources they need to get acclimated. Send us a note to suggest a WoW Rookie topic.Have you read our sister column, WoW, Casually, by Robin Torres? You should. WoW, Casually is designed especially for players with limited playtime. Limited playtime means streamlining and getting down to the basics – exactly what a WoW rookie needs, too.
With that in mind, we've rounded up a collection of WoW, Casually posts that can help you get ahead as a new player. As Robin says, "Of course, you people with lots of playtime can read this too, but you may get annoyed by the fact that we are unashamed, even proud, of the fact that beating WoW isn't our highest priority. Take solace in the fact that your gear is better than ours, but if that doesn't work, remember that we outnumber you. Not that that's a threat; after all, we don't have time to do anything about it. But if WoW were a democracy, we'd win." Enjoy!
| Basic add-ons Here they are: the add-ons that will help get you down the leveling road a little faster, a little easier, a little more efficiently. |
|
| Keep your account secure Update your software, run antivirus scans regularly, don't buy gold or powerleveling services and other ways to ensure your account (and computer's) security. |
|
| Manage your loot What to have and hold, what to sell or trade. Whether you play one character or have a whole stable of alts, streamline your loot handling so you can spend more time actually earning it! |
|
| Is it feasible to play PvE casually? Can a person with a real life (and a real 50-hour-a-week job) actually play WoW, have fun and still have a life (and dare I say, maybe even a girlfriend)? |
Keep up with what's important to players who aren't clocking time in end-game PvE or PvP with WoW, Casually.

The last few lines of your post kind of didn't feel right to me...
"Take solace in the fact that your gear is better than ours, but if that doesn't work, remember that we outnumber you. Not that that's a threat; after all, we don't have time to do anything about it. But if WoW were a democracy, we'd win."
I don't really wanna argue but come on you guys allready have "won" if u wanna say it that way, just look at what WoW has become... WOTLK is just extremly easy compared to any other expansions just because casuals kept whining on the forums. We all know it's true and seriously rubbing it into people that have more time and enjoy a challenging game's faces is simply not fair. I bet no one of the more hardcore players with better gear rubbed it into your face saying gtfo retard i have better gear or anything.
Also I don't think anyone would get annoyed by how people want to play the game. If you wanna take it slowly and won't spend more than 2 hours per day for wow it's what you want, why should i care?

To echo Avjar,
People who are self-righteous about their casual playstyle are just as much of *($#s as are people who are self-righteous about their hardcore playstyle.
It's everyone's $15 a month, everyone's free to spend it how they like.

True, but you missed the joke. "Yeah, there's more of us than you!... not that we have time to do anything anyway...". It's a stab at themselves, not at the less casual crowd. I don't think anyone with a respectable opinion really thinks one if better than the other, but that doesn't mean you can't joke about it. Nerf teh srs.

You people are incorrect. If you are a casual by definition you aren't ever on the WoW forums. The whining came from bad players of all experience levels.

If WOW were a democracy, I'd move.

I'm not sure about your definition of a casual player. Limited playtime is typical but not a definition, I think of a casual player as one who is not obsessed, I don't need addons to make my leveling faster/efficient because I don't really care how long it takes me. This sounds more like "hardcore with limited time trying to cram as much into their limited time as possible"
