The main difference was this;
In TBC many HCs did take an hour to complete, so your cooldown would be over by the time you finished. However, in Wrath most instances can be done in 20-30 mins, and if you hearthed just before the instance, thats a long time to wait.
It's not "laziness' like some people are saying. You do realise most people have lives and work, and there 1 or 2 hours a night on WoW are valuable. Getting on a 10 minute flight is a significant % of downtime.

Why do you brush you teeth? Why do you even walk? Get out of bead in the morning? You know, I would tell you to just play another game but it would take too much effort for you to create create a new shortcut on your browser bar, let alone the stupendous effort necessary to type in the URL the very first time. Seriously, do your parents still change your diaper?
Everything takes time. I know of nothing in life that doesn't take time. If a 10 minute ride is too long for you, play another game.
Truthfully, I don't care one way or another about the change itself. But I am sick of WoW changing something just becuase because of a bunch of QQ.

Evidently you do care, or you wouldn't resort to insults that make you seem like an elitist prick.

Dude, first off, don't be a jerk on threads, it sets a bad example for everyone.
Second, it's so funny to find elitist jerks like you that just say "QQ moar noob". Dude, it's a game. And if it's not fun, it's not a game anymore, and becomes work. I don't pay my subscription fees to work. Everyone used abilities to port and ghetto hearth and battleground port because the system that was setup was NOT WORKING for most people. So it was changed. It's a matter of convenience, nothing more. You don't have to agree with this, but don't be a jerk about it to people who did care about this.

Kolo, how can you use "Elitist" as a pejorative? I would kindly ask you to refrain from such things. Elitism is the nearest thing we'll get to a meritocracy.

Yeah, listen to Kakistocracy. Acting like that isn't elitist. It's douchebaggery.
Very important distinction to make.

@Kakistocracy:
"Elitist" is used as a pejorative because there are far too many players out there who consider themselves 'elite' and use their self-given status to look down on everyone who's not 'elite', which is usually anyone who suggests that there's more to life than WoW and running the same instance for 42 hours to get one drop is kind of silly.
I can see WoW as being a meritocracy and it's an interesting idea. The problem is the people who think that devoting so much of their lives to the game gives them the right to treat other people like worthless beings, or that Blizzard should cater to them more because they're 'elite'.

"I'm being honest and leveling with everyone -- using a bit of humor, that's constructive. If you require a more direct response, then here you go. Hearthstone cooldown will remain one hour. Perhaps this will change in the future, but no plans to do at this time.
One hour is very reasonable, and there are other means available to get from point A to B. "

MusedMoose, I'd like to point out a delicious bit of irony. You said elitists are people who look down at "anyone who suggests that there's more to life than WoW".
I never limited my defense to those who play WoW.
I would argue strongly that very few of us play.
My statement was, in part, from the previous election, due to the disappointing number of people calling Obama an elitist, and intending it as a pejorative.
I never said that people who call themselves elite because they spend a lot of time playing ARE elite, in point of fact, I attacked that very act of calling such people elite.
I'm calling for a return of reason, mock those who falsely call themselves elite, flatter others by applying such a title.

At the bottom of the page (after the page you posted) Eyonix states that it will be changed to 30 minutes.
