Two Bosses Enter: Gal'darah vs. Krystallus

Loosen up those fingers and get ready to post your theory on who will come out on top in this week's Two Bosses Enter matchup: Gal'darah of Gundrak versus Krystallus from Halls of Stone. It's Impale against Petrifying Grip and Shatter – who's doing what, while who's out of commission?
As always, the basics: assume that the two bosses share similar levels, health pools and damage output, that any crowd control abilities they have affect one another, and that they are fighting on neutral territory. Because one of Krystallus' key abilities (Shatter) is designed for use against multiple opponents, we'll allow its effects against Gal'darah here. Other than that, we're out to debate the three S's: Style, Story and Scale. Don't get caught up in game mechanics and what players might do in each encounter. Consider the flavor each villainous gladiator brings to bear, then cast your vote for who you think would come out on top.
Gal'darah (Gundrak)Gal'darah, the High Prophet of Akali, is the last boss of Gundrak. During battle, he summons Spirit Rhinos that charge opponents, knocking them back and dealing significant damage. Gal'darah periodically morphs into Rhino form, Impaling combatants with Puncture damage and immobilizing them on his horn for 5 seconds. His Whirling Slash: nasty, just nasty.
- Enrage 125% attack speed increase for 10 seconds
- Whirling Slash Vicious AoE damage
- Puncture Stacking DoT
- Impale Randomly impales an opponent, immobilizing for 5 seconds and dealing damage
Krystallus (Halls of Stone)The Collosus Krystallus resides in the Halls of Stone. He relies on immobilization, Petrifying and then Shattering opponents -- designed to wreak havoc among multiple opponents, but we'll allow the use of it here against Gal'darah. Will it be enough to bring Krystallus through the battle?
- Boulder Toss
- Ground Spike
- Shatter Because Krystallus' Shatter ability was designed for use against multiple opponents, we'll allow its effects to go off automatically against a single opponent here.
- Stomp
The smackdown
Remember: no group-tactic or game-mechanic nitpicking. Vote for the spirit of the battle as set forth above. Remember: we will allow Krystallus' Shatter to affect Gal'darah in this one-on-one duel. Other than that, set aside differences in opponents' health pools, game level and actual damage output, and size up these villains based on their fighting style.
What's your reasoning behind who ends up victorious? Post your comments -- let's come up with what goes down!

| Krystallus | |

Gal is annoying, but I down him first try every time.
Krystallus has never failed to kill me. Point for him.
Shatter wins it for Krystallus.

That's so funny... it's always been exactly the opposite for my groups.
Whirlwind kicks butt.
Hoggersbud Feb 26th 2009 2:06PM
I'm afraid Gal'darah will be butting his rhino head into a brick wall here.
skreeran Feb 26th 2009 2:16PM
My thoughts exactly.
You're gonna have spirit rhinos flying all over the place, but that's not gonna hurt Krystallus very much. He's made of rock for crying out loud. In the end, Krystallus petrifies our Troll friend, and it's all over after that.
Faze Feb 26th 2009 2:18PM
Gota agree.
I dont think Gal'darah will be puncturing Krystallus' big rock butt and Shatter should win it for Krystallus :P
Trilynne Feb 26th 2009 2:34PM
Rhino versus rock wall. Agreed, Rock wall wins. :P

Krystallus would beat Galdarrah most probably. I doubt that his whirling slash and puncture would have effect on krystallus's body. And impale is probably a very bad idea here. The only skills Galdarah could use to some extend are his enrage and the stampede. The only question remains: How long will it take?
Lephturn Feb 26th 2009 2:15PM
Krystallus is just too tough, I'm not sure the impale would even hurt him.
He is made of rock vs. squishy Troll guy. Advantage rock.

All of Gal'darah's abilities (how could you even impale or puncture a being made of stone?) require him to be in melee range of Krystallus. Sooner or later, he's gonna get shattered. Anyone who's been shattered knows its an almost guaranteed death.

Galdarah would charge Krystallus and break his face. Krystallus would then shatter him and stomp him into the floor.

More and more I realize how much I enjoy Gun'drak. I think every last boss there minus the snake are a ton of fun, I normally pug it so the lack of common sense of Sladran normally makes me want to bang my head against the keyboard.
Victory for Gal'darah, hes a neat encounter. I think that if he can actually impale Krystallus it ends pretty quickly.

Krystallus.
Who the hell can impale a ROCK?
Xariana Feb 26th 2009 2:19PM
Gal has his WW which hits relatively hard but other then that he doesn't bring much to the fight against Krystallus.
Krystallus just hits like a truck and that shatter would be devastating even at minimum damage.
Point - Krystallus

Both are wusses. Krystallus' Shatter can be devastating, but that's pretty much all he's got. Gal'darah gets the slight edge for his enrage and DoT. That combo was usually enough to kill at least one group member back in my crappier healing days.
trilobite Feb 26th 2009 2:22PM
Gal'darah killed a god and devoured its soul.
You think he'd have trouble with Krystallus after that?
Hoggersbud Feb 26th 2009 2:40PM
I bet it'd be some painful kidney stones.
Hellscreamy Feb 26th 2009 2:31PM
Krystallus would win this one. It's not like Gal'darah's Rhino form will be able to impale a giant on top of his horn.
Kirtan Feb 26th 2009 2:42PM
Maybe not, but Krystallus will be scared for life when that horn gets stuck in his "you-know-what". XD
Meira Feb 26th 2009 2:35PM
People who are saying that Shatter would make Krystallus the winner are forgetting something: it only damages when there are other allies in a close range. Gal'darah is alone, so Shatter only stops him for a few seconds, seconds that he can recover damage-wise with Impale (yes, Krystallus is a friggin' rock, but with a very sharp spear it's possible ^^) .
I think that Gal'darah wins this round: he has a counter move for Shatter and Ground Slam (Impale), and has a knock back provided by the spirit rhinos and some nasty attacks that Krystallus can't deliver back.
Meira Feb 26th 2009 2:36PM
horn* instead of spear, my bad
