Video of the Blood of Gladiators TCG Loot
Our good friend Drayner over at Twinkinfo.com has gotten his hands on video of the brand new TCG items uncovered the other day for Upper Deck's upcoming Blood of Gladiators expansion. Of the three, the Foam Sword rack seems the coolest -- it looks like a pick up and go heirloom weapon that you'll be able to challenge others with. And while the Epic Purple Shirt is definitely purple (and Epic), the "Sandbox Tiger" is probably the sillest. But if you've always really wanted to ride a Spectral Tiger, there you go (and it does look like that Orc is having a lot of fun, doesn't it?).
We'll be able to get our hands on some of these cards starting next month in stores. Are any of these convincing you to pick up a few card game packs, or are these not quite as exciting as the actual Spectral Tiger mount or the Ethereal Vendor?

Anything is better than that spectral tiger...
Taters Feb 26th 2009 6:07PM
Mount I mean, the little toy is cute.
Todd Feb 26th 2009 6:21PM
Ah, don't like the actual mount?

If you can actually fight - or duel with those swords, (pretty sure that you can) then they will be awesome :P
Will still love my Soul-Trader, tho.

A shame he didn't show what "display" the shirt gives when you use it.
peagle Feb 26th 2009 6:59PM
My thought exactly. His demo did not include what the shirt does, nor how the foam sword fights work >:|

you can pick up all of the items on the ptr's from the card game code turn in guy in Booty Bay. The codes are 1111, 2222, 3333.
the shirt does basically a /flex when used, epic!

Aww, that's more than a bit disappointing.

It would be awesome if it forced all the players in say...a 20 yard radius around your char to turn towards your char like a distract does in pvp.
Might be a little annoying, but if they put an hour or so cd on it it wouldn't get out of hand.

I wish he'd zoomed in a bit more and shown the front of that shirt.

He was very clearly a keyboard turner, and based on his gear Id bet he hasnt played the game much.
I wouldn't be surprised if he didnt actually know how to rotate the camera around his character even.
Most likely just grabbed fraps an posted what he could.

I notice that the sandbox tiger item disappeared from his inventory when he used it. It's not a one-time use item, is it?
Buffalufagus Feb 27th 2009 2:03AM
I tested it myself on the PTR and the items does indeed disappear from your inventory. Kind of disappointing if it stays that way. Otherwise it is actually pretty funny/cool looking.

The new loot cards for the next expansion are quite disappointing really. Perhaps Blizz saw that the cards were getting too awesome and decided to tone them down a bit.
The spectral tiger and soul trader are still the best, but I'll always love when the rocket chicken explodes.

They're still far better than anything you can get in the game without real life money, so they're still performing their purpose I'd say.

I dont know if it has been said i just jumped to the bottom to post this.
but does anyone else find it supremly amazing that blizzard made the tiger toy possibly as a joke that all the ally are little kids..... seems to be a popular sentiment on my server
Dajobe Feb 27th 2009 12:48AM
how the hell do you come to that conclusion? its not like this is an alliance only thing.
Wump Feb 27th 2009 4:53AM
Funny you mention that.
Especially with a horde character being on it.

I have a strange feeling the Epic Purple Shirt may be a visual reference to Ozymandias from The Watchmen.
Though without seeing the front this is just here-say.
