The Queue: Vanilla Coke edition
Welcome back to The Queue, WoW Insider's daily Q&A column where the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.Hey, everybody! How's your Friday afternoon so far? Mine is full of rain and Vanilla Coke. Mmm. Delicious Vanilla Coke. You know, I'm definitely a Mountain Dew man, and Voltage is my lifeblood, but some days you just want something else. I couldn't drink Vanilla Coke every day, but cracking one open now and then? Caffeinated heaven.* Now, if I can just find my dentures, I'll start answering your questions...
Hellscreamy asked...
A few days ago I read in one of the posts that Noblegarden would be getting new achievements, items and events. Is there any indication at the moment (PTR or otherwise) that this will count towards the 'What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been' achievement?
I just hopped onto the PTR to check this, and Noblegarden hasn't been added to What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been at all. That achievement still only requires To Honor One's Elders, For The Children, Brewmaster, Merrymaker, Hallowed Be Thy Name, The Flame Warden, and Fool For Love. No changes.
naota asked...
Has there been any information released as to whether Ulduar will be a 10, 25, or 40 man raid?
Like all raids in Wrath of the Lich King, it's going to come in 10 and 25 man flavors. 40 mans are dead, and as far as we know they are never coming back. When you have your dungeon difficulty set to Normal, the raid will be in its 10 man flavor, and will only let 10 people zone in. When you flip difficulty over to Heroic, it will be a 25 man raid.
Nick asked...
Are there any plans for more 5-mans?
We can hope that there are, but we don't know of any additional 5-mans they plan on implementing in Wrath of the Lich King. I know it's a lot to ask considering they only have so many developers, but I'd personally like to see a new 5-man added alongside every new raid like they did with Magisters' Terrace and Sunwell Plateau. Patch 2.4 was probably the most well-rounded patch they've done. A raid, a 5-man, and progressive solo content on a large scale. I give them huge props for that, but the downside to it is that it has set my expectations really, really high.
I'm a raider at heart, but I love all aspects of the game. Raiding, 5-mans, solo content, PvE, PvP, RP, the whole deal. I like seeing new, harder 5-man dungeons, but they rarely ever come around. I think that more new 5-mans would be a great idea, even if that meant one or two less dungeons at an expansion's release.
As far as we know, though, they have no plans to do this. If they ever add a new 5-man during Wrath, you can bet we'll be all over it. Until then, we have no indication that they'll be adding anymore until the next expansion.
Rowan asked...
Are the Argent Tournament racial mounts replacing the old racial mounts - or will there be racial (exalted rep) mounts and racial (Argent Tournament) mounts?
Nothing is replacing anything. They're new mounts added to the factions but acquired somewhat differently. Currently, the new mounts don't cost gold at all. You buy them from quartermasters on the Tournament grounds, one for each faction, using a currency you earn through questing called Champion's Seals. Currently, I don't think anybody on the PTR is capable of earning those tokens yet, so we don't know how quickly you acquire them. Mounts cost 100 tokens, though. The armor and weapons that the quartermasters offer cost anywhere from 10 to 25 tokens. The vanity pets cost 40 tokens, banners cost 15, tabards cost 50, and the Argent Hippogryph (a flying mount) costs 250 tokens.
When we have more information on how to acquire tokens, WoW Insider will be looking into it all more in-depth. Keep an eye out.
*I didn't get paid for saying this, but if someone wants to give me money for it, I won't say no. Wink wink, nudge nudge.

Drinking voltage right now. God I love that stuff. I gave us soda for almost 2 years, although every now and then I would have one but those were far and few. Then one day about a month or 2 ago a buddy hands me a voltage and now I am hooked like a Swede on crack.

i can't say im glad voltage one, though I am a huge original dew fan, I liked super nova much better. I still yearn for the days of pitch black I&II, and gamer fuel was like liquid gummy bears

I have no freaking idea why it attached everyone's comments to the post I deleted to yours. That's really stupid. Cleanup time!
Alex Ziebart Feb 27th 2009 6:07PM
There. Even I hate our comments system sometimes.
Luckily, we're getting an upgrade to them soon.
"Soon."

Never heard of Voltage, but I love the original Mountain Dew. I'm also a coke fan and I actually like Vanilla Coke lol. They stopped selling it in large bottles because apparently the North Island (of NZ) didn't like it... bastards lol.

while i hate pretty much everything coke makes, vanilla coke was pretty good

Normal Coke and Relentless for me. Don't like Vanilla Coke myself. I also like ginger beer/ale.

Take this with a grain of salt. On the PTR, you have the initial quests and dailies which reward you Aspirant's Seals. You need 15 of these to advance to the next set of quests.
After doing that, turning in those 15, you become a Valiant of your home race, which is an achievement. This will direct you to the race leader in the tent, and you will now see the same daily quests, but they reward Valiant's Seals instead of Aspirant's Seals. Your race leader in the tent wants you to earn 25 Valiant's Seals and turn them in to him.
It would seem the next step would be Champion's Seals, which are the currency for the rewards.
It takes, at a minimum, three days to get 15 Aspirant's Seals, and the dailies available to me for Valiant's Seals reward a total of 5, meaning it would take five days for them. (They're on different daily counters, so you can do the first 5 Valiant's Seals on the same day as your last 5 Aspirant's Seals.)
In total, at least from my experience, it appears to take no less than 7 days to reach the Champion's Seal level, although this is my first day of Valiant's Seals, and I cannot confirm Champion's is the next step.

thank you your comment was very informative
alpha5099 Feb 27th 2009 4:52PM
Do you have any idea how you go about doing this for other factions? Do you have to go through the whole process for all five of them? Can you do them concurrently, or can you only champion a single capital at a time?
Tural Feb 27th 2009 4:57PM
alpha5099, the only quest offered to me was for Stormwind (As a human), and I was unable to find a way to do it for another faction. I'm not sure how one would go about doing all of the races yet. None of the leaders, nor the Silver Covenant NPCs offer an option to do it for another race yet.
Haarits Feb 27th 2009 5:25PM
While I hope there'll be a way to champion other cities for the titles and all (and there should be, I think they said so; maybe after you've championed your own and completed certain tasks?), it seems like the Champion's Seal currency will be good at any of your five faction city quartermasters since there's only the one type of currency and no rep-requirements on the items, that I saw.
Tural Feb 27th 2009 6:19PM
Haarits, there is an achievement for being a Champion of all five home factions, and being Exalted with, and a Champion of all as well. I believe WorldOfRaids.com and MMO-Champion.com had these listed at some point. I neglected to mention that I am Exalted with all five, if anyone was wondering. Even with Exalted, I see no option to begin another faction's Champion process.
Wasuremono Feb 27th 2009 4:46PM
What do the banners do and are they consumable?
SeiferTim Feb 27th 2009 4:50PM
Are the mounts and the other Tournament content going to remain in the game indefinately, like Sunwell (progressively building up to unlocking everything), or is there a time limit (like AQ - once a certain objective is achieved, the steps to reach that objective are unavailble)?
I almost never get to do any of this stuff as it happens, but I would like to be able to eventually get the mounts when I can get enough of the tokens...
SimpleSurvival Feb 27th 2009 5:06PM
Blizz has said that the Argent Tourney is here to stay...
its not a time specific something... I think its blizz's way of letting you grind old world factions without killing the same old world mobs over and over again

What is the deal with the Graymane wall in Silverpine forest? Is there an old raid set in there? What is on the other side of that Monstrous wall?
