The Queue: Vanilla Coke edition
Welcome back to The Queue, WoW Insider's daily Q&A column where the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.Hey, everybody! How's your Friday afternoon so far? Mine is full of rain and Vanilla Coke. Mmm. Delicious Vanilla Coke. You know, I'm definitely a Mountain Dew man, and Voltage is my lifeblood, but some days you just want something else. I couldn't drink Vanilla Coke every day, but cracking one open now and then? Caffeinated heaven.* Now, if I can just find my dentures, I'll start answering your questions...
Hellscreamy asked...
A few days ago I read in one of the posts that Noblegarden would be getting new achievements, items and events. Is there any indication at the moment (PTR or otherwise) that this will count towards the 'What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been' achievement?
I just hopped onto the PTR to check this, and Noblegarden hasn't been added to What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been at all. That achievement still only requires To Honor One's Elders, For The Children, Brewmaster, Merrymaker, Hallowed Be Thy Name, The Flame Warden, and Fool For Love. No changes.
naota asked...
Has there been any information released as to whether Ulduar will be a 10, 25, or 40 man raid?
Like all raids in Wrath of the Lich King, it's going to come in 10 and 25 man flavors. 40 mans are dead, and as far as we know they are never coming back. When you have your dungeon difficulty set to Normal, the raid will be in its 10 man flavor, and will only let 10 people zone in. When you flip difficulty over to Heroic, it will be a 25 man raid.
Nick asked...
Are there any plans for more 5-mans?
We can hope that there are, but we don't know of any additional 5-mans they plan on implementing in Wrath of the Lich King. I know it's a lot to ask considering they only have so many developers, but I'd personally like to see a new 5-man added alongside every new raid like they did with Magisters' Terrace and Sunwell Plateau. Patch 2.4 was probably the most well-rounded patch they've done. A raid, a 5-man, and progressive solo content on a large scale. I give them huge props for that, but the downside to it is that it has set my expectations really, really high.
I'm a raider at heart, but I love all aspects of the game. Raiding, 5-mans, solo content, PvE, PvP, RP, the whole deal. I like seeing new, harder 5-man dungeons, but they rarely ever come around. I think that more new 5-mans would be a great idea, even if that meant one or two less dungeons at an expansion's release.
As far as we know, though, they have no plans to do this. If they ever add a new 5-man during Wrath, you can bet we'll be all over it. Until then, we have no indication that they'll be adding anymore until the next expansion.
Rowan asked...
Are the Argent Tournament racial mounts replacing the old racial mounts - or will there be racial (exalted rep) mounts and racial (Argent Tournament) mounts?
Nothing is replacing anything. They're new mounts added to the factions but acquired somewhat differently. Currently, the new mounts don't cost gold at all. You buy them from quartermasters on the Tournament grounds, one for each faction, using a currency you earn through questing called Champion's Seals. Currently, I don't think anybody on the PTR is capable of earning those tokens yet, so we don't know how quickly you acquire them. Mounts cost 100 tokens, though. The armor and weapons that the quartermasters offer cost anywhere from 10 to 25 tokens. The vanity pets cost 40 tokens, banners cost 15, tabards cost 50, and the Argent Hippogryph (a flying mount) costs 250 tokens.
When we have more information on how to acquire tokens, WoW Insider will be looking into it all more in-depth. Keep an eye out.
*I didn't get paid for saying this, but if someone wants to give me money for it, I won't say no. Wink wink, nudge nudge.

Is there any plans for my bank tabs and slots ?
RogueJedi86 Feb 27th 2009 5:28PM
What do you mean plans for your bank tabs and slots? What about them?
Elfie Feb 27th 2009 5:38PM
sorry mean are there any plans to increase the number of bank tabs or slots?
Mohrlock Feb 27th 2009 7:57PM
I've posted this "rumour" before which I quiet possibly started *whistles innocently*
Check your current bank. Where you bank slot bags are there is an empty row below the current row of bag slots.
This wasn't there a few patches before the release of WotLK. Now I'm not saying this COULD mean that there is plans for a new row of bag slots, but putting 2+2 together normally equals 4 does it not?
Worst case scenario they must be planning something for that empty space, logic tells me it's another row of bags. Imagine all the tiny tiny tiny icons of all our loots and stuffs! Gives good excuse to go buy a bigger screen for everyone! Woot!

@Mohrlock
That empty space at the bottom of your bank window? That's where the "buy a bag slot" controls were before you bought all seven slots.
Mohrlock Mar 3rd 2009 11:59PM
@Lilene
It used to be a thin row... I know that button well *laughs*
Unless it just happens to be on every computer I access WoW on then the bar is ALOT thicker than it ever used to be
The "buy new bank slot" button wasn't as big as the "Play" button on the WoW Launcher *laughs*

Do you have any idea when 3.1 will be released?
RogueJedi86 Feb 27th 2009 5:30PM
When it's ready. Blizz doesn't slap stuff on PTR for show with an obvious deadline. They put patches on the Public Test Servers to TEST the patches. There is no deadline on finding bugs and exploits, especially in new content(which is why the big patches always go through testing). It's easier to hotfix bugs and patch problems with just 2 or 3 PTRs than it is to take down all of the hundreds of WoW servers and deploy a patch. So 3.1.0 will come out when everything is tested and bug-free for live.

I'm a little confused about the Ulduar raid. Is the vehicle section actually outside the instance or not? The Hodir preview said it was before the instance portal.

When I see the mount vendor in Darnassus, They have 2 quests to trade in old mounts. Is this still coming or olden time mounts?
Balius Feb 27th 2009 6:51PM
When WoW first started, the models for the epic ground mounts were unarmored and looked like different colors of the level 40 mounts. When they updated the model, they offered people a way to trade in the "less desirable" unarmored mounts for the new versions.
At this point, people with those mounts aren't going to be exchanging them, but the option remains.

Do you think they'll ever bring back old raids, such as Kara, with a higher difficulty setting to make them applicable again? Some of the old raids are really good and as such I'd love to run them more, but at a higher difficulty.

I read that they are nerfing lifebloom for druids. I didn't see any thing about it here, so I'm a bit skeptical. Here's what they said:
Lifebloom: Mana cost of all ranks doubled. When Lifebloom blooms or is dispelled, it now refunds half the base mana cost of the spell per application of Lifebloom, and the heal effect is multiplied by the number of applications.

Really, WoWInsider may be useful, but they're not the be-all and end-all of information. Here's the forum link to a less-qq thread about the change, including some GC comments:

I'm not a tailor, but I saw a flying carpet on the AH. That made me wonder; If I buy it, will I be able to 'learn' it? Obviously, I can't summon it since it since I'm not a tailor, but I was wondering if I could still 'learn' it and have it count towards the various mount achivements?
Mohrlock Feb 27th 2009 8:02PM
I miss the days of commendation signets! I wish Blizz would FINALLY get rid of these turn in guys around the capital city that keep taunting me to give some to them!
You can't tell me there are people that are still sitting on these from pre-BC that just haven't happened to play for a few years. Seriously either Blizz needs to ditch these guys or pretty pretty pretty please let us get them again! And there's my QQ for the day hehe

Voltage is heaven in a can. It reminds me of some candy my grandmother always had out when I was a youngling. Swedish Fish perhaps? Just can't put my finger on it...
Dalrint Feb 28th 2009 12:55PM
I have a question!
Is there any sort of rep grind/new reputation connected to Ulduar?
res Feb 28th 2009 6:03PM
Any word on new emblem of heroism/valor rewards in 3.1?
