Now that entering water no longer dismounts you on a land mount,
Can you mount a land mount in the water?
Will flying mounts still dismount if you go into water?
If not, can they too be mounted in the water?
Veras Gunn Feb 27th 2009 9:21PM
Not sure about mounting in water, but a Dev has said that once a flying mount hits the water you'll be dismounted.
sirotrax Feb 27th 2009 11:08PM
Yes, you can mount while in the water. You cannot mount a flying mount in the water, and will be dismounted if you fly into it.
Dora the Explorer Feb 27th 2009 8:21PM
Wow! Just wondering if flying mounts can also swim, or is it just land mounts? I hadn't seen this anywhere and was curious.
Kemikalkadet Feb 27th 2009 8:31PM
Flying mounts will still dismount you if you land in water, it's only the land mounts that can swim.
Aethyr Feb 28th 2009 12:05AM
So do these have a speed bonus underwater too? If so, how fast are they?
elstor Feb 27th 2009 8:20PM
Mammoths would sink. 'Nuff said.
Metema Feb 27th 2009 9:32PM
actually elephants can swim so yer... you are probably right tho - with all that fur and all...
Eversor Feb 28th 2009 10:33AM
With the size of their lungs and body fat? Uhm... hell no.
mark Feb 28th 2009 11:46AM
Lungs and body fat weigh less than water, making it easier for large animals such as elephants to float - so well, that elephants have been known to swim between islands in the Pacific which most land animals cannot do.
The lean mounts, such as the cat and horse mounts would sink well before the mammoth.
badjoke Feb 28th 2009 2:34PM
@Mark What kind of elephants are indigenous to the Pacific Ocean? Asian elephants? African elephants?
Sahara Mar 23rd 2009 1:25AM
That would be the Asian (Indian) elephant. It's found in Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Indochina, parts of Nepal and Indonesia and Thailand. Oh, look at that, many of those are close to the Pacific Ocean.

The patch notes said Flying mounts will still dismount you like normal if you fly into the water :(
Jones Feb 27th 2009 8:38PM
In before all the jackasses who think the game is too easy because of this change, just like the reducing hearthstone cooldown.
But seriously, the Mekgineer Chopper should be able to turn into a hovercraft
Rhynn Feb 27th 2009 9:04PM
Where's the lock love? I wanna see my dreadsteed swimming!
Lianne Feb 27th 2009 9:16PM
The Dreadsteed can't swim! His flaming tail will go out. :(
=P
Mandydeth Feb 27th 2009 9:34PM
What about mechano-hogs...
Eddy Feb 27th 2009 10:04PM
Highly illogical. They won't be able to get any traction underwater at all to move the wheels forward.
Dobmeister Feb 27th 2009 9:16PM
This would be a hilarious way to drown that little obnoxious drifter hitchhiker commonly known as Hakmud of Argus.
Stephen Feb 27th 2009 9:57PM
Yeah, if a mechano-strider can tool around under water with out catastrophic engine failure then my hog should be able to.
