[UPDATED] WoW Patch 3.1 shuts down the Iron Council

[UPDATE: According to some reports, well-known raiding guilds Death & Taxes, Method, and Fusion all managed to stay inside Ulduar for some time after Blizzard booted everyone else out of the instance. This is sort of expected, considering Blizzard wanted to truly test the encounter -- numerous players formed 2-man raids just to be able to enter Ulduar, thus maxing out the instance limit.]
Players who can't get on the PTR or who have similarly given up in frustration because the world server isn't exactly in the stablest of conditions, you can live the encounters vicariously through the streaming video of other intrepid players such as the folks from Rawrcast or Thelastrace on Justin TV. You mileage may vary. In the meantime, you can enjoy the screenshots of the encounter below. We guarantee they won't crash.
Patch 3.1 brings us Ulduar, dual specs, significant changes to all the classes, and more! We've got you covered from top to bottom with our Guide to Patch 3.1.Filed under: Patches, News items, Raiding

We tried testing Thorim earlier on the EU PTR... what a nightmare. Was able to log on 30 minutes before testing started... got three 132 errors in a row... then had login issues for the next 90 minutes. When we finally managed to log in, we grabbed a group really quick and set about testing... only to have them shut Ulduar down not long after.
Not sure how you're meant to test when you can't even get onto the servers (or stay on them without crashing for more than 5 minutes).
Really want to try Freya out tomorrow, but after that I think I'll take a break from testing until things are a little more stable.

Yay another boss for Ulduar

I finally got in a full group that managed to get inside, we found the boss, and as we were running towards them to start the fight, they despawned. Blizzard had finished testing for today.
I hate blizzard sometimes.

I'm sick of this shit. Blizzard is giving select guilds special treatment. The guild I am in is rank 97 world wide. We are just as good if not better than the guilds list, we just raid considerably less. I don't see why we have to suffer server lag (fucking puggers) and D/Cs.
Oh and we don't get Blizz's insta rez treatment.

It's a testing server. Blizz want the content tested. They dictate the rules, they dictate how everything goes down. If they feel like certain guilds can get the job done, then that's their perogative.
Sounds to me like you are just complaining that you don't get to practice the content before it goes live.
Blizz don't give a shit. The PTR is not a practice server.
The live realms are still available to you, go play on them if you don't like the special treatment. Ulduar will be there soon enough.

Did ike 5 pulls on 10 man. Harder than any existing 10man content IMO. Did not manage to even get one of the 3 bosses down below 80% before the big guy instagibbed the MT in fun and different ways.

I've got 5000g that says 3.1 crashes WoW this bad when it hits live servers too.

"[UPDATE: According to some reports, well-known raiding guilds Death & Taxes, Method, and Fusion all managed to stay inside Ulduar for some time after Blizzard booted everyone else out of the instance."
I have to point out that that is NOT true. Fusion may have stayed inside for an extra 5 minutes tops (as seen on Live Feed). D&T had already downed them before it was de-activated. Method is a EU guild and wasn't even testing Iron Council!
Just sayin'
Truth Feb 27th 2009 11:36PM
No Method was testing Thorim (obviously) however all EU PTRs had Ulduar shut down once Method had beaten Thorim, now this is either because Blizz thought they had all they needed from the informati0n gathered, or Method used some tactic which showed an obvious bug/trick to kill him easily and they wanted to change it. Either way it is kind of a slap in the face to the other guilds who turned up to test the encounter only to get DCs, errors etc...
"We want a raids of varying skill to test the encounters" - Blizzard
Umm do you f**k, most people didn't even get to see Thorim and the majority of those guilds which did (my guild included) didn't get a try which didn't result in half the raid dcing upon the pull.... GG -_-
Zul Feb 28th 2009 12:09AM
Rank 97 world wide.
My guild has amazing leaders and amazing raiders.
If only we got the "super hardcore treatment", from Blizzard.
We raid about 10-12 hrs less than most hardcore top 100 guilds.
WE COULD OF MORE THAN HANDLE THIS EVEN WE HADE VIP TREATMENT (extra time, ez mode rezzing

Yeah, but if your comment here is any indication, you wouldn't be able to give much in the way of comprehensible feedback.
Palatel Feb 28th 2009 12:57AM
And what, prey, is this guild of yours?

97 Paparazzi EU-Balnazzar
I guess ?
Anyway, don't complain about those guilds, complain about the two-man raids that went in to wave at the trash mobs.
If it wasn't for them, you'd probably have more time to test stuff, too.
Skotch Feb 28th 2009 12:30AM
There was no "special treatment". As far as I know we just whispered a GM and asked 'nicely' to get a McWeaksauze.
Alchemistmerlin Feb 28th 2009 8:41AM
This is why Beta testing should be closed, not the free-for-all that the PTR is.
