Around Azeroth: Pocket full of kryptonite
A 280% speed increase might not be faster than a speeding bullet, but it's close enough. Tatertots of Muradin was granted the power of flight a while back when a series of disconnects let her continue "swimming" through the air after dismounting her epic flyer. I suppose that we can add a new item to the list of superpower-granting items: radioactive spiders, supersoldier serums, and now Comcast connections.
Do you have any unusual World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see it on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, double-mounts, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran.Filed under: Screenshots, Around Azeroth, Galleries

Wow. I wish my Comcast connection gave me the power of flight.
But seriously, that's pretty damn cool.

Actually it isn't.
The flying animation is exactly like swimming - think Kaelthas 25 man. But that is swim at normal speed.
Try swimming at 280% speed.
That's right. You'll end up looking like a frog on steroids or something. Highly entertaining, but not really cool.

The animation speed doesn't increase... so even though you are zooming about you look like you are calm about it. This happened to me on the PTR a few days ago during a lag storm and I flew about for about 5 minutes just because it was so fun to watch. You look like Peter Pan when you do it, and since the animations are all in place, it works very well as a flight form. I'm hoping Blizzard implements [Fairy Dust] or some similar item in the future -- if only to see what /trade chat would do with that comic material.

Last time I played the game was 6 months ago, so I guess they probably fixed it. I concede.

You can get the same swimming in mid air effect if you are a druid and fly to Brunnhildar Village in your swift flight form.
It's very funny each time I pass that area and start swimming in mid air.

You poor bastards on Comcast.
Avadann Kedeth Feb 28th 2009 11:35AM
Wow, was that an Ozma reference? If so, I'm impressed.

Spin Doctors
"Pocketful of Kryptonite" - hit album, released 7 years earlier than Ozma's using the phrase.

I used to be able to achieve this effect by getting on my Flying Carpet, then mounting up on my Headless Horseman mount. It was pretty funny--I had a flaming horse on a flying carpet! If I would then get off the carpet but stay on the horse, it would give me the "swimming/flying" effect. Of course, anyone else who looked at my screen saw me on the horse.
Then they went and made the carpet just like a mount, and sadness was born.
