The Daily Quest: Of Frost leveling, jump mechanics and the problem of promiscuous pygmy fish
Another day, another round of PTR crashing. While waiting to get into Ulduar, check out these entertaining and informative WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.
- Pike from Aspect of the Hare made a visual quilt of the pets on her various Hunters (pic above.) Head to her site for their names and levels.
- Banana Shoulders has put up her guide to Paladin Seals and when to Judge them. She breaks it down by damaging, buffing and debuffing Judgements and adds recommendations to which Paladin uses what in raids.
- There has been a sudden explosion in the population of the pygmy suckerfish Alchemists use for MP5 flasks. What's a fisherman to do with all the extra? WoWGrrl has a few suggestions, some of them quite entertaining.
- Markco at Just My Two Copper has a reader submitted mining route for Icecrown.
- Euripedes at CritalQQ posted a fine guide to leveling a Mage using a Frost spec back in Novemeber that I just discovered this morning. I may use this to kickstart my stalled level 30 Mage.
- CriticalQQ also has an interesting analysis of jump mechanics and AE effects in raid encounters. Based on the Best. Bug. Ever. post we made a few weeks ago, he talks about jump mechanics and how the game engine doesn't register your position until you land. Important concepts for those trying to dodge black holes and other AEs in boss encounters.

No offense taken. As you can see from the rest of the front page, we've been writing non-stop since Patch 3.1 hit the PTR. But every day we come across great blog posts around the Internet that we think you should also check out. That's what this daily post is all about.
So click on a few links that interest you and consider leaving a comment there to show some love to others whose passion for WoW moves them to write entertaining and informative posts on their own blogs.

Acutally, I found two of the articles linked here to be really interesting and helpful. Hush.

Hey Dan, how does a WoW community content creator get their updates in for this? I have seen several podcasts mentioned, and would love to get my releases in there too. Thanks.

Critical QQ is an amazing blog, full of fun, good writing, zero "political correctness" and very good info for mages. And yes, his guide to level alone with frost is very, very good.

:(
Now everyone and their mother is going to use the route I use for farming in Icecrown.

That's the mining route I use in Icecrown... Works pretty well :D

Interesting read on the jump mechanics. Guess Blizzard hates bunny-hoppers too, though that theory would go against the Keristrasza encounter design...

Wow i never knew about that jump thing, but it makes so much sense now. I'm a habitual jumper, if i'm on a tank and spank boss that doesn't need me to run around i'm constantly spamming my spacebar while i do my rotation, and if i need to move out of the way of something i'll jump to get out of its path. That explains my frustrating deaths to sarths fire wall, i'd always do an action-movie style leap from the flames and end up being hit by them despite being in the clear. This'll save many a death and cursing down vent.
