Emblem of Conquest gear up on Patch 3.1 PTR
With this latest PTR patch, the gear sold for Emblems of Conquest is now availabe. The names are placeholders ("Emblem of Conquest Healer Neck"), and the stats may also be relatively placeholder-y as well, but it's something to look at, anyway.
Currently up are:
- Runed Orbs for 15 EoC; these are like Frozen Orbs and will be used for crafting.
- Necklaces for 16 EoC.
- Belts and gloves for 23 EoC.
- Legs for 32 EoC.
- Deadly Gladiator gear (38 EoC for hands and shoulders, 48 EoC for head, legs, and chest).
- Tier 8.5 chest and head tokens for 48 EoC each.
- Emblems of Valor for one EoC.
You can see the stats on everything over on the inimitable MMO-Champion, although I don't think the tier 8 vendors are implemented yet, so we still don't know the precise numbers on those. What I'm really anxious to have confirmed is that we'll be able to buy tier 8.0 with the Emblems of Valor that drop out of 10-man Ulduar - if that's not the case, I will be one very upset raider. And what's with some of those prices? 38 badges? Really?
Patch 3.1 brings us Ulduar, dual specs, significant changes to all the classes, and more! We've got you covered from top to bottom with our Guide to Patch 3.1.

Those seem like odd numbers of badges per purchase.

It is, but then again, Conquest will be much harder to farm than Emblems of Heroism or Valor were. In a given week you could farm nearly limitless EoHs and up to 22 EoV (37 once Ulduar is out), but for EoC we're looking at a max of 15 per week, and that's assuming an absolute full clear of Ulduar 25, something that's not happening any time soon.

I am guessing it is related to the number of bosses in Ulduar against the difficulty .. Blizz expect it to be cleared at a certain rate (less quickly than Naxx). Over 4 clears for a Valor piece and over 3 clears for a Conquest piece, thereabouts.

I *know* I probably missed this somewhere; what emblems will be dropping from the 10 man? Valor?
Eliah Hecht Mar 3rd 2009 7:21PM
Yeah, one of the blues confirmed that it will be EoVs (I don't have the reference handy just at present).

You're doing the same thing as some people in my guild, still calling it badges!
About 10 man T8; will it be better than T7 from 25-mans?
Kvothe Mar 3rd 2009 8:04PM
Well, yes and no. T7.5 is ilevel213 gear, which is what T8.0 will be. However, the tier 8 gear will be slightly better itemized (points used for more useful things) and will be usable with T8.5 for the set bonuses, which will probably be better than T7's. So while the gear will be equal item level, the T8 will still be better.
Kal Mar 3rd 2009 7:23PM
Mizzle - yes, Valor will drop from T8.10.
I would guess that the odd number will be changed, but it's partially a derivative of how much each boss drops. There are 14 new bosses in Ulduar. Assuming Yogg drops 2 badges per all 'end boss' and the hard mode bosses drop a few more, we can expect probably close to 18-19 badges through the whole thing. Algalon probably drops 2 as well. So you're looking at basically how long in terms of clears you'd expect to get that gear.

Seems likely that the odd prices are for beta use only so that the items can be obtained and gear tested more quickly. When it comes to live servers, I'd wager that they would be more highly priced.

Side question. What mod shows those actual number %s that is next to the equipped item bonus stats?(like 1.4% instead of 56 parry)
Thanks!
Eliah Hecht Mar 3rd 2009 7:38PM
There are a few, but RatingBuster is the one I use.
Dave Mar 3rd 2009 7:56PM
Thank you so much! That mod is incredible!

It would be completely sad if Valor could be used for t8. It would mean blizz learned nothing and I quit the game, along with many other raiders.
Eliah Hecht Mar 3rd 2009 7:46PM
Well, Valor is what drops in Ulduar-10. Are you saying Ulduar-10 raiders shouldn't be able to buy their T8 gear with badges?
Bakunin Mar 3rd 2009 7:51PM
Yes, because if your not doing/capable/interested in larger more difficult raids, you don't need the gear for it. Those that are interested/capable/doing 25 man deserve and need something better.
Eliah Hecht Mar 3rd 2009 7:55PM
As you may or may not be aware, there are two different versions of every tier set. The Priest T7, for instance, comes in "Heroes' [whatever] of Faith", at ilvl 200 and dropping in 10-mans, and "Valorous [whatever] of Faith", at ilvl 213 and dropping in 25-mans (so-called T7.5).
T8 will almost certainly be similar. I'm not saying EoVs should let us buy the same pieces as EoCs. EoVs should buy T8.0 (ilvl 213), while EoCs buy T8.5 (ilvl 226). Does this address your issue, or is there something else I'm missing?

Then quit and stop whining already...
Eliah Hecht Mar 3rd 2009 8:03PM
Oh, and as for 25-man raids being harder, I've done everything short of Sarth+drakes on 10, and everything short of Maly and Sarth+drakes on 25, and the 25s are, for the most part, significantly easier, in my experience.
Bakunin Mar 3rd 2009 8:11PM
I stated an opinion I didn't ask a question, so I actually had no issue you needed to clarify.
Since 8 is a step above 7.5, why should 7.5 equivalent tokens = 8 level gear? In other words, 10 man ulduar will = 25 man naxx, therefor rewards are equal (7.5). If your a 10 man raider in t7, your next step is valor, go to ulduar and get your valor gear. If your a 25 man raider in 7.5, your next step is 8, and so on.
Additionally, since there was 7 and 7.5, does not mean there will be 8 and 8.5. That is not at all clear and there are actually many reasons to believe it won't happen if you know about previous tier sets and how they progress.
