Why now's the best time to run BC content
Spartonian over on WoW LJ has been running some old content, and he points out something that everyone should hear: now is the absolute best time to be running the old Burning Crusade endgame. He says the contest is laughably easy with current endgame levels and gear, and yet, because we're still basically at the beginning of this expansion's endgame, there are still quite a few items that can be picked off of the end bosses in Black Temple and Sunwell (not to mention you can pick up the achievements for those places if you weren't able to down them before. And he's right -- there are some nice trinkets still found in those old instances, and who wouldn't want to complete their Warglaive set or grab a Thori'dal from Sunwell? Sure, the stats may not be the best, but until the ammo changes go in, you can save money while soloing -- and own a legendary to boot.
Of course, when Ulduar shows up, we'll all likely be too busy with the new content (be it the raids or the Argent Tournment or whatever else you got) to go back to Burning Crusade. But now, during the downtime post-OS and Naxx, is the perfect time to go back and clean up the old content.

HMS Dawntreader (Silvermoon-A) should be getting into BC dungeons some time this summer. Still progressing through Vanilla Azeroth dungeons at/near level. We just unlocked Scholo!
Anyone looking for a content over progression casual guild? Or a likeminded guild interested in an alliance? We're looking for more for 20+ dungeons...

My guild and a guild we often team up for 25s with did Black Temple last weekend and it was a lot of fun. I had only seen the first few bosses of SSC and TK.
Almost everything was vendor trashed but I did my first mage tanking (never had the gear for Gruul's lair).
We had a few wipes mostly due to people d/c ing, but I got the achievement for the clear.

I don't think it is the BEST time, unless you've done EVERYTHING. I'm trying to bust my ass to get those 310% proto-drakes. That can take all week. It's easy to down all the bosses right now, but to do it without a single death, or in 6 minutes. Damn. And I'm torn with little time left. I've got 25-man 3D's down, but not the immortal. On 10-mans, I have The Undying, but not 3D's. I wish I had both on one to make it easier! I read on the forums they re-opened discussion on that...lets hope for the best....
And yes, it would be nice to have a legendary bow...but ammo has never been an issue for me. I can do 25 dailies and PvP before a raid and only need to buy 3-4 stacks to fill back up.

While I love soloing these, I would love even more to be able to PUG a group of lower levels. I enjoy playing with others. It forces me to become a stronger, more versatile player. It also puts me in contact with others that I may want to play with later. But how am I to do this w/o spamming the trade channel?!?! Please make it so I can LFG for areas/group quests/instances/raids below my level. OPEN UP THE LFG SYSTEM!!!

The very end-game of BC - Hyjal, BT and Sunwell - are still challenging. I mean, maybe I'm just a noob, but I was in a full raid of 80s, at least half a dozen of whom had seen Illidan at 70, and we wiped once or twice on phase 2 before we finally got him down. (Then, once we got through phase 2, we killed him before he had time to switch to demon form. We had forgotten to bring a warlock in tank gear, but it didn't even matter.)
Some fights you can just muscle through with the higher stats you have at level 80, but other encounters still require a certain amount of planning and coordination and stuff. You couldn't bring just one tank to the Illidari Council or that dragon early in Sunwell either.

"He says the contest is laughably easy"
Content right?

Heltake from Warsong ninjaed the Kael's phoenix in a pug, so be prepared to be ninjaed if you are in a pug.
Mike Mar 3rd 2009 4:09PM
How do people get ninja'd? Sorry for the stupid question, but I just don't get it.
What loot rules are you using? Free for All? It seems like that is the only loot rule where ninja'ing is even possible.
Nekudotayim Mar 3rd 2009 6:50PM
Yeah, it was FFA, then in front of the boss he ninja-changed the loot to master looter, everybody didn't notice because there were lots of rolls going on in the screen.

I roll through AQ20 and Onyxia every reset(resto druid 2-manning it with a ffb mage), great gold.
However it takes a few more to roll through things like tk. but get everyone on vent and it's fun, because there's so much leeway.

Well, the Stonebreaker's totem is still one of the best totems in the game from the numbers I crunched, so there is some value in running BC content

So let me as you guys this. What level, given dungeon and quest gear, would it take to 5 man Karazhan with a Warrior, Holy Priest, Feral Druid, Warlock, and Mage? 75? How about Zul'Aman?

I honestly never thought I'd see the day that Illy of all people in a PUG would get his face rubbed into the dirt. It's hilarious that my druid: who's seen probably 3 BC instances has all the BC raid achievements for SSC, TK, BT and SWP while my Pally and Warrior who I've probably worked the hardest to even get so much as freaking ZA gear never managed to even kill the trash in there. It's depressing really but I see so many "LFG PUG BT/ZA/SSC" etc in LFG now that it's mindboggling.
What IS good however is that some of the gear that you can pick up if you get into said PUG (and that selfish 80's don't take the gear away...), your alt at the 70-75 level will have some VERY awesome levelling gear, thus letting you trash almost every quest reward as you move through WoTLK questlines. My Balance druid picked up her helm and pants since 71 and I'm 79 right now and still wearing them. Some of the trinkets as well are pretty long lasting as well.
The main problem though is that when lower levels go through with 80's and depending on the group: you get some rather selfish minded people needing on gear which they clearly do NOT need all for the expressed purpose of keeping it in their banks. Sure it looks nice and you 'never got it when the raid was hard' and 'oh these noobs aren't worthy to wear this' and blah blah QQ etc but come on: what's that attitude about?
Now, not that I'm all for the whole 'give epix to the poor' sort of attitude but come on - if you're gonna do nothing but put it to rot in your banks: at least let someone roll on it so that they'll put it to use.
