The Queue: Hawaiian Pizza edition
Welcome back to The Queue, WoW Insider's daily Q&A column where the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.Today, in addition to all of the questions I'm answering for you, I need all of you to answer a question for me. Hawaiian Pizza: Delicious, or Crazy Delicious? This is an important question, my friends. I need each and every one of you to contribute. It's for the good of mankind. Also, to prove my girlfriend wrong. It rules, does it not?

Evaline asked...
Are there any Ulduar achievements currently on the PTR? I'm guessing they aren't there yet, because we would have heard something about them if there were. Another question if I may, do the bosses on the PTR currently drop loot? Again probably not, for the same reason as above, but can't hurt to ask.
No achievements, no loot. We probably won't see anything about the achievements at all until they've tested all of the bosses they plan on testing at least once. You sort of need to make sure the fight works when doing it regularly before you start coming up with all sorts of crazy things for people to try.
Loot is probably something we'll start seeing a few PTR builds from now. I imagine they have most of the items designed by now but haven't assigned drops to bosses at all. It's pretty likely we won't see most of the drops actually drop until live servers, either. They're using the Shirt of Uber to circumvent gearing issues for testing later bosses.
res asked...
Any word on new emblem gear becoming available for purchase in 3.1?
There is new Emblem gear being added for the new Emblems, yes. Emblems of Heroism and Emblems of Valor are not getting new items as far as we know. The new Emblems are Emblems of Conquest that drop in Ulduar-25, while Ulduar-10 drops Valor.
In yesterday's PTR patch we started seeing these Conquest items. You can hop on over to that post to check them out.
Eberon asked...
I noticed in Sholazar Basin on a small Island in the lake north of Hesingwary FP (coords 38,37) a small hatch with some numbers on them? Any idea what that might be?
It's a pop culture reference. It's a nod to Lost. Or maybe it's LOST. LoSt? lOsT? I have no idea how that title works.
uncaringbear asked...
Why does Blizz make the loading screen (the one of Arthas that you see after selecting a character and zone into the game) impossible to ALT-TAB out of? Am I the only person that finds this annoying? With the longer and longer loading times, if your character is parked in Dalaran, it would be nice to ALT-TAB out and do something other than stare at Arthas' grinning mug for what seems like an eternity.
I assume there's some technical reason for it, but I don't really know for sure. I do know how I avoid staring at the loading screens, though.
If your computer can handle it, go into your video settings and switch over to Windowed Mode. Then Maximize it using the little check box, so it fills your entire screen. If you have a good system (which you might not if your load times are that long) you can continue playing WoW as you always have, except tabbing out will be much easier and much faster. The only problem is that it's a heavier load on your computer. If your PC can handle it, you absolutely should always play in Windowed Mode if you are a chronic alt-tabber like I am. I don't ever look at loading screens. Ever.

"Emblems of Heroism and Emblems of Valor are not getting new items as far as we know"
False emlbelms of valor r getting the librans and relics form naxx.

I would also bet that a couple Tier 8 pieces will be made available for Valors.

Hawaiian Pizza = Gross beyond all rational thought

Since the level requirement for dual-spec is dropped to 40, is there any chance that they would lower the price from 1k gold in the near future?
Boydboyd Mar 4th 2009 2:36PM
No.
The seemingly hefty price to many a QQ-er has a reason behind it:
The "high" price ensures that most, probably closer to all, level 40 characters using this feature will have already leveled another, different character to 80.
It's a privilege, imho, to be able to have two specs on my level 40 character. I earned that privilege when I leveled one to 80 before that and earned the gold myself to partake in this wonderful addition to the game.

Hawaiian pizza, on its own, is a little bland. Add sausage, pepperoni, green peppers and LOTS of hot chili peppers, and it officially = win, in OH SO MANY WAYS.
To the people complaining about not running heroics anymore, not everyone will be downing Maly 25 when 3.1 hits the realms. Blizz has to be conscious that new raiders will have to start somewhere, and mark a progression from Heroism to Valor to Conquest. It's just simple logic. For once in WotLK they do something so that toons don't get ridiculously geared even before setting foot in Naxx...

Alex, you should know by now that your girlfriend comes with a legion of.. wait, can I say that on WI?
Pineapple + ham is not as amazing as just pineapple.

Missing poll option:
"Pretty good, except that someone put PINEAPPLES on a perfectly good pizza!"
AZShizzle Mar 4th 2009 2:42PM
I only eat those kind of pizzas! And if there are not Hawaiian pizzas, I take another pizza and remove all the other crap.
Caz Mar 4th 2009 2:47PM
Hawaiian pizza is only good with the addition of jalapenos. But if all is as it should be, I'm eating pepperoni, red onions and feta pizza instead.
Ametrine Mar 4th 2009 2:53PM
I could easily eat a whole large thin-crust Hawaiian pizza by myself. It's that good. (why thin-crust? Dunno - it just fits better than handtossed or deepdish for this particular kind.)

I began my WoW career late in life and rolled a Horde Rogue on a PvP server. I then transferred my level 80 Rogue to a server that was home to several friends of mine. The problem is, they were established Alliance characters. So, I rolled a Death Knight and am now the main tank for our adventures.
I now have a level 80 Horde Rogue who is 450/450 herb/inscription who I never use anymore. I craft some glyphs for friends and transfer them via neutral auctionhouses but it's not worth the inconvenience.
Finally, my question: What would be the reasoning for Blizzard not allowing a paid faction transfer? We can switch servers and now rename our toons and even change genders. Why would it be difficult to allow an Undead Rogue become a Human Rogue? I would definitely pay the fee and make use of my Rogue again.
Just wondering if this would somehow upset balancing or some other mechanic I'm unaware of
Mr42 Mar 4th 2009 2:58PM
now seriously, there are only 2 things worse than hawaiian pizza: one being chocolate pizza (i've really seen that), second being reserved for a special case
just to prove your girlfriend true ;)

Hawaiian is in the crazy delicious tier.
Sweet Thai Chilli and BBQ Chicken is in the #$%^&*@ crazy delicious tier.
PS - Arthas has a severe case of sausage-fingers.
Elepheagle Mar 4th 2009 3:01PM
Normally I don't leave comments here, but Hawaiian Pizza is absolutely disgusting...I think. Honestly, I'm not sure about the taste. But the concept is enough for me. :)

And now for something completely different: a question!
Is there any way to track all the places you have explored/haven't explored BEYOND just the areas needed to complete the exploration achievements and uncover the region maps?
'cause I am:
A) obsessive compulsive and NEED to find EVERYTHING!
B) interested in som easy XP (however minimal) for my army of alts.
Thanks!
BigB Mar 4th 2009 3:11PM
If you have a mac you can invoke Expose to move around to other windows/apps while the loading screen is loading.
Expose is killer.
Hira Mar 4th 2009 3:12PM
BTW where I'm from that's just Canadian bacon and pineapple pizza. Hawaiian has almond slivers on it.

I have a question regarding the lore behind the playable death knights, and how they came to be. Are we supposed to believe that they died fighting the scourge, were resurrected by the Lich King, and forced into servitude (much like Anub'arak and the Forsaken pre-split), only to have the spell broken when Tirion chased the Lich King out of the Plaugelands? Or did they give themselves over willingly (more in the same vein as Kel'thuzad), maybe because they felt they were in a losing battle, only to have a change of heart after witnessing first-hand all the evil the scourge was being ordered to do?

Scroll down to the "Creation" section for a great explanation.
They break free after they find out that the Lich King was just using them to lure Tirion, and had sent them to their deaths at Light's Hope.
If you're referring to why they would agree to be death knights in the first place, IIRC they had no choice because they didn't remember who they were before they died (SPOILER - hence the quest in the starting area where they force you to kill a prisoner of your race. The prisoner recognizes you as having been a great hero before becoming a death knight.)
