Breakfast Topic: Who's the boss?
Recently we brought back one of our popular features -- the boss matchup that pits the game's nastiest bosses against each other. It's really an interesting thought, and even though we can theorycraft all we want about how things come down, it's really just a popularity contest. I mean, if you think about it, one reader was right about Amanitar beating Eck the Ferocious, right? But our little frog-like friend was the more popular one, so he won the day. That's how we roll. That brings me to my question today... who's your favorite boss of all time? The bosses in Ulduar look really interesting, but it's too early to tell which one is going to be really cool and which one is going to be really annoying. Let's see... I think everybody loves VC, right? He's just so darned charming. Personally, I always enjoyed the Four Horsemen in Naxxramas... if only because they're pretty cool. I mean four Death Knights, all of different dispositions, on cool horses... I kind of like Sir Zeliek but probably only because I play a Paladin. I imagine he was forced to reroll and didn't like what he got.
So... four years and two expansions later, with numerous instances and raids... who's the boss you enjoy the most? Who's the boss you remember best? Surely someone's got to pick the flatulent Princess? Or maybe the king you pay tribute to in the Maul? They've given us all some fun (and painful) times, let's give a shoutout to our favorite ones.

As an avid fan of Lovecraft and his work, I always found C'thun to be an awe-inspiring boss...

as healer i liked Dalliah the Doomsayer . the debuff made me always stay on my game. "WHY IS SHE HEALING HERSELF'.

Definitely the opera event from Kara, more specifically the Red riding hood and The Wizard of Oz ones. Love the build up to it and the fight is just fun. Getting turned into little red riding hood? What's not to love?

My special mention goes to... Darkmaster Gandling. Because in a world (of Warcraft) where people I know met him close to a hundred times and never got their Dungeon Set 1 helm, he only took four trips to surrender his Beaststalker helmet to me. Plus, he has been kind enough to give me his staff. Twice.

kael in tk was probably the most fun i've had as far as mechanics.
but bosses who i just "like" as people?
arise my champion.
at your side, milady!

Without a doubt, Curator.

One of my all time favorites? Skadi the Ruthless :D
I know, i know. i can hear the collective groan of the wow community as they remember all their times wiping over and over on this crafty mofo with pug's.
Personally, I just love the gauntlet type stuff. Running headlong into a perpetual tidal wave of crazed undead vrykul just makes me wanna /charge every time i do it. plus, u actually have to think during this fight (unlike most wotlk heroic bosses) even if it's just making sure harpoons are being fired and watching out for the grauf breath (somehow this is still too much for some ppl :P).
even during the actual fight against the boss himself u have to be on ur toes, considering that when he lands, his threat just goes to the closest person (god forbid the healer) and the fact that even as a ranged u better make damn sure u get away from that ww.
all in all, it's just a fun/simple fight with guildies/experienced players and usually hell on earth for noob pugs

Um, hello?
Easily my favorite -
Frogger.
2nd favorite -
Gong boss in ZA (post nerf when it was way buggy)

For me, its a toss up betweeb Thaddius and Heigan for current end game at least. The insane dmg boost on Thaddius is BA, and both make everyone actually pay attention, which shows you who the hell is decent. But, it never fails someone always dies during both these fights.

Opera event in Kara.
Kara was imo the best raid/instance in game so far, and Opera was one of the highlights in there.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to tonight's presentation...!"
All three were cool, but Oz always put a smile on my face. Gief Straw! (being a fire mage and all..!) :)

MgT: The whole instance. Each Boss had something else to offer, and I adored running it, even after I had everything I needed from the place.
Kara: Like others said, the Opera event. So much fun. And you never knew what you would get. We wiped tons there, but it was a damn nice learning experience back then.

Barron Gheddon!
There is nothing better than trying to get 40 people to run away from a group when they get turned into the bomb. And on top of that I loved being the bomb. Fun stuff.

Selin Fireheart from MGT. Hes corrupted and yells "YES, I AM A GOD!!" it makes me kinda feel bad but same time powerful too (when im killing it..). I cant really say why but the feeling of the room, the madness he has. Its all amazing
Alexander Mar 6th 2009 10:25AM
I have to say Al'ar for what my guildy said during the fight:
"Why are none of my fire spells working?"
mayah Mar 6th 2009 10:26AM
i cant believe no one mentioned the SSC elevator boss or the twins ledge boss ;)
seriously though - twins was my favorite fight in in sunwell and i loved kael in TK and illiden from bt

Arugal or Ragnaros. Unlike most bosses, I knew why the hell I was wandering into their domains to kill them, they'd managed to mess up entire regions of the world and had piles of game lore to go with them. I'd add C'thun, but I've never gotten to fight him. The whole silithid swarm was awesome when I first encountered it. In general, classic bosses were better. Blizz cared about plot and lore then.

Loatheb is probably one of my favourites. I also really like doing the Heigan dance now that I don't get lag; it's so much fun!
I'm also partial to the Priestess fight in MgT; it's a blast to go back to two-man in heroic. Such absolute craziness with mobs charging all over the place and yelling and shooting exploding sheep... I rarely die on it, but you get close sometimes and it's very exciting.
I also love anything in ZA. Best. raid. ever.
Cbeefman Mar 6th 2009 10:39AM
BURN!
Ragnaros hands down fellahs
that yell alone man, bring back painful PAINFUL memories
i also like Shade of Aran for his crazed madman ramblings
"Who, who, who are you?, STAY AWAY FROM ME!!!"
Moorabi is another nice one
"Get ready for sumtin much much, BIGGAH!"
so many, too many

Alyssa Milano.
YUM

Man, this is HARD. I might have to do categories.
No, no, that's cheating. I'll pick one. I have to say Curator. That fight was so frantic the first time, a real toughie to learn in the early weeks of BC. Plus his voice!
