Breakfast Topic: Who's the boss?
Recently we brought back one of our popular features -- the boss matchup that pits the game's nastiest bosses against each other. It's really an interesting thought, and even though we can theorycraft all we want about how things come down, it's really just a popularity contest. I mean, if you think about it, one reader was right about Amanitar beating Eck the Ferocious, right? But our little frog-like friend was the more popular one, so he won the day. That's how we roll. That brings me to my question today... who's your favorite boss of all time? The bosses in Ulduar look really interesting, but it's too early to tell which one is going to be really cool and which one is going to be really annoying. Let's see... I think everybody loves VC, right? He's just so darned charming. Personally, I always enjoyed the Four Horsemen in Naxxramas... if only because they're pretty cool. I mean four Death Knights, all of different dispositions, on cool horses... I kind of like Sir Zeliek but probably only because I play a Paladin. I imagine he was forced to reroll and didn't like what he got.
So... four years and two expansions later, with numerous instances and raids... who's the boss you enjoy the most? Who's the boss you remember best? Surely someone's got to pick the flatulent Princess? Or maybe the king you pay tribute to in the Maul? They've given us all some fun (and painful) times, let's give a shoutout to our favorite ones.

Sartharion, of course!
I love the voice-over for him and...
"Such flammable little insects!"

Reliquary of Souls in Black Temple.
The whole fight requires so much concentration and strategy but is incredibly fun at the same time. Not to mention downing him...her..it? was one of the most rewarding moments in WoW for me.
Gorefiend would be close if I didn't have to experience hundreds of wipes on him because of those three people who couldn't down their constructs getting chosen EVERY TIME.

I don't know if I could pick a favorite, but there's some fights that has been memorable for me over the years. I've played a priest as my main for a long time, but now I'm a pew pew warrior, so as usual, when role changes, perspective changes.
Back in the days, I liked how the warlock's mount event in Dire Maul worked, needed to be alert and on your A game.
Bloodlord Mandokir and his raptor was great (and expensive on wipes lol)
Chromaggus and the sand was good and demanding, liked it.
Like some said, Shade of Aran and Illhoof are my favorite in Karazhan, on different points. Liked Illhoof on my priest because 2 man healing this was a challenge. For Aran, it's a complete fight where you need to watch everyone or else they would go down.
Reliquary in BT is the only 25 man boss I really enjoyed in BC, but I might be forgetting some.
I never got to do 4 horseman at 60, did it at 70 and now as 80, but both versions of the fight has always been fun for me.
But my favorite encounter was Vaelstrasz. I remember the adrenaline rush when we first downed him back in the days! The fight was everything raiding should be: multiple target healing, random events, timed race, and frustrating moments. Wish they would bring another fight like this ingame!

My favorite boss has always been Kazzak.
I remember vividly being in the AH at level 20 or so on my first toon, suddenly trade and general chat explode about some boss. I went outside to see the ungodly huge thing with wings and a gigantic sword tearing up the place. I stood there motionless for about 10 seconds then watched the shadowbolt 1-shot me. I must have died 10 times before i finally just watched him destroy the town as a spirit.
Being new to the game I didn't know who he was or his mechanics, all I knew was that I was in awe of his power. Since playing I have killed many tough and mean villains of all shapes and sizes but none compared to the downright destructive power as Kazzak did on the day he destroyed Stormwind. Highlord Kruul came close but he would always chain back, Kazzak went where ever he pleased.
For those that didn't get to experience it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWZyw1xRY58
Not my video or realm, but once people learned you could do this it happened like this on most realms.

It probably doesn't count as a boss per se, but the event on the stairs in Zul'farrak was always hugely exciting for me. I must have run that damn dungeon like ten times trying to get the Big Bad Pauldrons for my warrior, and I never got tired of facing down wave after wave of trolls. Get owned, trolls.

Teron Gorefiend. I had been brought into the raid like two weeks prior, and I was still wearing my dungeon blues and crafted epics. Had read about the fight a few times, but never watched it. I figured I'd get to see someone else kite the adds and then do it later. Sure enough, out of 25 people, the only new person to the fight gets the debuff. I not only killed my adds, but I also killed someone elses and then I started dps'ing the boss. We wipe, and I am the first to go again, and I do the same thing, again.
We went back into black temple recently for a fun run, and one of our hunters who I knew wasn't very good got picked out. I was like oh man, lets see how he does. All four of his ghosts reach the raid. I say to him on vent, congrats, you have wiped the raid.

So many to choose.
Aran. Nightbane. Moroes. Curator(love that voice!). Magtheridon. Thaddius. Gothik. Four Horsemen. Sartharion. Sapphiron.
Every single boss in Zul'Aman. I love that place.
But probably it's the idiot-check fights I love the most. I don't like wiping, but I love falling down from my chair laughing at people we occasionally get on our raids. Talking about people who are dead within five seconds of first Polarity Shift on Thaddius.
I feel a bit sad that I never got to experience most of BC and none of Vanilla raid content at their level.

As for the heroic Deadmines...can I get an AMEN! That would be awesome, maybe even make an event out of it where every so often a different classic instance or two would have a heroic mode you could do.....
