The Immortal clarifications by Bornakk
This was hinted at the other day when the idea of an "Immortal" achievement for Ulduar was thrown around, but Bornakk has stepped up to clear up exactly what's supposed to be happening with Naxx's ultimate "flawless victory" achievement. He clears up all the questions that people have asked. To get the achievement, you only have to be present for Kel'thuzad, as long as no one has died on any of the other bosses. And "dying" on the other bosses means any deaths at all -- including wipes, or any other deaths while bosses are engadged. Deaths on trash are apparently fine, and will not lose you the achievement, but if anyone dies on a boss, the raid ID is lost for the week and you've got to start over again next time (of course, you can still go through and get all of the loot and other rewards, so it's not a total wash).
It's tough, no question, but remember that this is an achievement, not a part of normal progress. It's designed to really push your guild (or at least show you've got some good gear). While most of Naxx won't give an experienced, well-geared guild much trouble, achievements like this one can and should be more of a challenge.

Quien es mas macho? Lorenzo Lamas o Ricardo Montalban?
Thorbar Mar 6th 2009 5:13PM
Fernando Lamas.

All of this info was speculated by the community, now it's been confirmed. No surprises here.
Viper007Bond Mar 6th 2009 7:06PM
Er, no it wasn't. This has been known for quite some time by quite a lot of people. o_O
Quite a few guys in my guild have Undying (I nearly 8 manned it actually but we had 1 person die on KT due to ice block) and I believe at least one of them was only in for KT. They also died on trash.
miked Mar 6th 2009 7:21PM
I'm not sure exactly what you're disagreeing with me about.
Ryuker Mar 6th 2009 5:37PM
Wow WOW NO SPANISH.
Also: Common sense, Bornakk. I don't think anyone who needed clarification on "If you all die, it counts as a death" is smart enough to get the achievement anyway.
Balius Mar 6th 2009 6:06PM
Yeah, I never understood the confusion about that. Why would everyone dying NOT count against an achievement that says nobody can die? Are they going to release confirmation that two people dying on a boss negates the achievement, three people dying on a boss negates the achievement and so on all the way to 24?
Kakistocracy Mar 7th 2009 2:44PM
I think the idea was, some people assumed that if the boss reset (E.G. after a wipe) it might not count towards negating the achievement, provided the group came back and killed the boss with no deaths the time they down him or her. Clearly flawed thinking, but I can imagine people thinking that way.

This achievement should have been like "The dedicated few" (or something like that) all along... or at least remove it from the Glory of the Raider achievement and give it an appropriate reward.
There is no point in trying a near-impossible achievement that only the luckiest and most skillful players are able to attempt.
Viper007Bond Mar 6th 2009 7:10PM
It's an achievement. It's supposed to be hard.
If it was "at some point in time, do every single boss without someone dying and it doesn't have to be during the same week", then literally like half the guilds out there would have it.

"To get the achievement, you only have to be present for Kel'thuzad, as long as no one has died on any of the other bosses."
TRANSLATION: this achievement, like the ZA bears, can be sold by guilds to the highest bidder. Which hardly makes it as much of a challenge as it may seem it should be.
Balius Mar 6th 2009 6:02PM
Provided that nobody dies on Kel'Thuzad, which significantly limits the market for who can buy this to, effectively, people who could have earned it anyway.
Not really something to get your panties in a bunch about.
justlikehoneybaby Mar 6th 2009 6:18PM
Balius, the KT fight is not typically the most deadly of the Naxx fights. To say that someone coming in for that fight equates them being able to have been able to earn it otherwise is naive. cheers.
Lorne Mar 6th 2009 6:46PM
No, this is a perfect achievement. All those hardcore raiders are all QQing about Naxx being too easy, but then complaining that this achievement is too hard? That's the point of achievements! They are the extra challenge HC raiders are supposed to aim for!
Knucker Mar 6th 2009 7:43PM
This achievement is especially hard to to Kel'thuzad's aggro wipe when he mind controls someone.
don Mar 6th 2009 7:51PM
This would be true, if you didn't know exactly when KT was going to mind control. Have all of the DPS stop, and the tanks be ready to taunt. Not hard.
Knucker Mar 6th 2009 8:49PM
I'm fairly sure there isn't a timer on it.
ivyleaves Mar 6th 2009 9:20PM
Have a pally DI the person paying for the achievement and you are done. Can be easily sold.
philip Mar 7th 2009 4:42AM
didn't think that one through eh?
the pally doing the DI will die (read the spell)
