Fishing dailies and other goodies in patch 3.1

El's Extreme Anglin' is always the place to go for Fishing information, and you can bet your patoot that I ended up there in my search. Not only are there new quests, but there's a whole bunch of fun new items to accompany them. Pets, new fishing poles, new lures, new just-for-fun items. Pretty much everything that people love about Fishing in WoW has been cranked up a notch. Artisan fishermen will find that Nat Pagle has a fishing pole for them, too.
There have been some achievement changes, and some changes to make fishing a little easier on the eyes and ears. It's really a lot more than I expected for a secondary profession, though I suppose it makes sense given the fanatical nature of the people who actually partake in Fishing. We love this kind of stuff!
If you're interested in an early glimpse at the new daily quests, check out our little gallery below. If you want more details on what else is coming our way in Patch 3.1, El's Anglin' has all you need and more.

My mage isn't even at Artisan fishing yet (I've been slacking on visiting Mr. Pagle), but I already look forward to these changes.

For those of you interested in seeing actual information, use http://www.elsprofessions.com/news/31-fishing-roundup.html?

I agree. No real detail on the changes. It just seemed like a big redirect to els anglin.

@ Thander
To be fair, even MMO-Champion just directed towards El's
And anyways, she deserves all the hits she can get =)

The post does link to it. Look at the Source button at the bottom of the post. :)

Ok, so , any word on like a REALLY rare mount from this? Maybe the first aquatic mount from fishing? WTB Dolphin with goggles from Super Mario World.
Khrono Mar 7th 2009 11:33PM
This might be where you get the underwater riding ray that's supposed to come out in 3.1

Looks very nice so far.
What are the achievement changes mentioned? The link just leads to a page on Els Angling about an existing achievement.
Also, er, I take it you don't like fishing much? People who fish aren't 'fanatical' by any means, I for one find fishing quite relaxing. And you can do it whenever you want. Took me about a year to get it to max level pre-wotlk (just doing dailies occasionally) but nowadays I love it.

I love fishing and I still think people with Salty are completely insane.

Mr. Pinchy, Old Crafty and Baby Coralshell Turtle apparently now count for the achievement "The one that didn't get away"

Indeed. Now, let's hope they'll also add the Crawdad pet to make this one count retroactively. Well, still own Crafty, and since he's BoP, he might count. Otherwise, are there any news on where to get the turtle pet yet?

This is great news for me -- I've been slogging through levelling fishing (Master at the moment) for some of the cooking recipes, so it's nice to know I'll have something to do when I get there :)
Mattimus Mar 7th 2009 8:42PM
I've been waiting with bated breath for this to happen.
Hooray!
Looking forward to new info on the lures, though I'm already quite happy with my Kalu'ak fishing pole.
Lorsty Mar 7th 2009 9:10PM
Woot, this makes me happy because I love fishing with all my characters.
I just hope the pet was... better. I don't know, the crawler thing looks too simple just like the fawn.
I prefer the big eyes the pets have like Speedy and Muckbreath. Hehe
Mattimus Mar 7th 2009 9:41PM
I dunno. I think the crab pet is, or is going to be, a Ghostcrawler reference.
If not, it needs to be named Citizen Snips (counterpart to Mr. Pinchy).
Andrew R. Mar 7th 2009 9:55PM
People are always "fishing" for blues on the forums so maybe catching a crab is the reference.
I wanna know what the drop rate on the fishing pole will be from the daily quest.
SaintStryfe Mar 7th 2009 11:26PM
Could be an Oxhorn reference too - they added Mortus somewhere, and there's a pet crab in the game

You know, Blizzard has been caving in on a lot of the achievements to get the Violet Drake...I wonder if they can be persuaded to remove the requirement to win the STV fishing contest in order to get the Salty title?
Mattimus Mar 7th 2009 10:52PM
Maybe if Salty rewarded the aquatic mount. As it is, it's just a title that doesn't give a mount or anything, so I'm actually cool with it being a badge of pride for people who win the tournament, and complete the rest of the achievements.
Balius Mar 8th 2009 3:44AM
I think the tourney should reward its own title, and the rest of Salty should stick around as a title for the less competitive fishermen.
