Maybe if Salty rewarded the aquatic mount. As it is, it's just a title that doesn't give a mount or anything, so I'm actually cool with it being a badge of pride for people who win the tournament, and complete the rest of the achievements.

I think the tourney should reward its own title, and the rest of Salty should stick around as a title for the less competitive fishermen.

I like being one of a small number of Salty's. If everyone can get it, it's not really special anymore and it doesn't convey anything at all as far as a tangible reward (like a mount) so there's no basis for people whining about it as far as I can see. At least not a good basis, I mean people will bitch about anything in this game I suppose but there need to be some difficult achievements in the game. As far as I'm concerned, Salty is one of the more difficult ones, if only because there can only be a couple hundred winners so far per server in the entire game. The only thing harder as far as I'm concerned is the Justicar and Battlemaster titles, both of which are really rare and I've never seen one.

If they change Salty, then the terrorists have already won. Stop complaining about things and just try harder. Read strategies. It took me 3 years worth of doing the fishing tournament every single week to get a win, but I did it and you probably can too if you do all the right things and get lucky too.

But if we did Balius' great suggestion, you'd actually be gaining a second title. Since STV Tourney Winner would be dropped from Meta and made into its own titled achievement, you'd have an extra title over all the Salties, a title that means a lot more than Salty. You wouldn't want that? "Stranglethorn Fisherman Dave"?


So yeah, I like Balius' suggestion. Blizz removed made other RNG-based achievements from the Metas before, the STV Fishing Tourney is about as random as it can get, especially since it relies on other players in addition to randomly spawning fishing pools. Giving the Tourney achievement its own title reward while also removing it from the Meta would be a great idea, preserving the difficulty of the Tourney achievements, without making it nearly impossible to get Salty.
