Blizz already said the violet proto-drake is intended as a reward for completing -all- the holiday achievements. Now that Noblegarden is being extended to a week, is anyone honestly surprised they added it to the list of requirements?
Achievements are not a mandatory portion of the game. No one is holding a gun to your head making you do them. If it's such a bummer, such a chore, so much work, you don't have to do it! Blizz has said repeatedly that they don't want the drake to be easy to obtain. Missing out on it isn't going to ruin your game experience. It isn't going to prevent you from reaching any necessary content. It's a perk. It's FLUFF. You lose absolutely nothing by not getting this mount. So if it sucks so much to do the "work" required for it, don't do it.
Sorry for the bitchiness of this post, but I am SO tired of all the whining over achievements.
