WoW Moviewatch: Wrathgate 300
There are Wrathgate spoilers here, if you haven't completed that quest chain. Or if you're stalling completion for nefarious purposes.
I'd just been thinking about the 300 Moonkins late last week, so I was incredibly happy and surprised to see this movie go up on Warcraftmovies.com over the weekend. Karash has created a piece which I suppose was inevitable. Wrathgate 300 uses the trailer pieces from 300 to convey the story of Wrathgate.
Karash didn't simply put the soundtrack over the pre-existing Wrathgate cinema. Instead, he cobbled together a new and compelling trailer from several sources. I recognized most of them, but there were actually a few shots whose origins I can't place. Karash says he created this out of boredom, but I think it was actually an inspired use of the "300" material. Placed in the context of Bolvar's Last Stand, I think the new soundtrack created a powerful spin on the whole Wrathgate story.
I'm focused mostly on the story here. Bolvar is an obvious comparison to Leonidas. While the Kingdom of Stormwind probably didn't shun Bolvar's concern about Arthas the same way Leonidas was left on his own, the small-group-against-many theme is still very strong. I actually would have liked to see some more footage using Leonidas' voice-over, though, since it has that same sense of Pyrrhic victory that Wrathgate portrays.
Then again, I could be reading too much into this. Still, it was a pretty cool find since I already had 300 on my mind.

I love those 300 remakes. This was a really fun one. The voices and sound effects matched up real well. Its been a while since I have seen something this good on wow moviewatch. I know it was all just cut from Blizzard made videos but still really well done on the editing.

Kick ass.

I know it's just me but I think 3d models of Wow are "ok" from a certain distance. When looking too close at any male face/body it's like seeing a 3-polygon thing. Damn it's ugly as hell and it kills any emotion in the video :-|

Yay!
Wrathgate and 300 is like peanut butter and chocolate. So good!

"300 is so over-done, blah blah blah." Yeah, maybe it is, but this video was awesome. Very clever mash-up of WoW machinimas. :)

reading the newsline, my first reaction was *yawn* - another 300 wow movie.
But this is definitely the best in my opinion^^

Yeah I was bored with 300 clones, but this one rocks.

Heck yhea! That was one of the better videos that I have seen from here since probably Blind. Then again, I don't know if anything will ever top that. But kudos to this video anyways! :D

Thanks for the feedback, guys!
Although I'm well aware that I'm kinda late on the "300"-wave I'm still quite satisfied with the result and am really glad that it gets appreciated so much.
Looking forward to offer you something else. :)

Brilliant! Plus it doesn't spoil the Wrathgate ending -- I've seen it myself, just an observation. Although, I guess if you haven't seen Wrathgate yet, you only have yourself to blame. It's what, a lvl 73-ish quest?
