Breakfast Topic: Good eats
Blizzard has generally done a tremendous job with in-game items. Aside from the mandatory epic gear, of course, they've also given great detail to even the most worthless (or seemingly worthless) items. One aspect of the game that they've put as much effort into are the food and drink. Some foods in game actually make me crave for the real thing, like the Delicious Chocolate Cake. I mean, I know eating it certainly make me very happy. Most of us keep food that serve as raid or utility buffs, usually from Cooking. This is actually one area that Blizzard still needs to polish, with some foods harder to come by than others. That said, I pack some Dragonfin Filet for those dungeon runs, and a stack of Great Feasts for raids. I would love to bring Fish Feasts, but my Fishing is still at a deplorable 1 (I'm too poor to keep buying the fish off the Auction House).
However, my current favorite food these days are Blackened Worg Steaks, and I never go around without the tracking on. It's an extremely useful buff, specially on a PvP server, so I hardly get jumped and it's very easy for me to track down nasty gankers. I also keep stacks and stacks of Festival Dumplings for general use and because I just love Chinese food. Lastly, I have stacks of Star's Lament because it's the only drink you can take in Arenas.
Blizzard has vaguely said that they'll be adding some new recipes in Patch 3.1, so that should be pretty cool. They haven't disclosed what stuff they're cooking up -- pun intended -- but I sure hope they put in some Resilience food. There are cool, fun foods, too, like the Gigantic and Small Feasts. I hope they put some more silly emotion foods, because those are just darn fun. I can go on and on about the foods of World of Warcraft, but let's move on to our appropriate Breakfast Topic... what foods do you keep in your bags? What are your favorite ones? What foods do you think should be added to the game?

I just wish the Delicious Chocolate Cake was actually made from chocolate.

After having been really crap with buff foods I finally lvl'd my cooking, and always have cuttlesteak for my main and dragonfin filet for my alt, blizz did good with the dalaran dailies. My favourite food would have to be goblin gumbo, makes you belch green fumes for about 10 mins. Think it comes from the card game, a guy I raided with used to drop it all the time.
Practical food I'd like to see, buff food with some combo different from 'stat+stam'. Fun food, something that lets your character fly for a short time, that would rock

I made it a point on my priest to get as many cooking recipes as I possibly could, and I think out of all the ones available I'm missing less than ten. I haven't been doing much healing lately, though usually I keep some Pickled Fangtooth on her. I also make it a point to have the (what I assume is) equivalent of a full pot of coffee. Personally I think Black Coffee should give a small haste buff. *nod*
A Druid friend of mine keeps Tasty Cupcakes on him at all times and gives them out to people to make friends. It's really adorable.

I always hoped that the Black Coffee would remove any side effects of drinking too many alcoholic beverages. Sadly my priest still walks sideways and thinks mobs are 5 levels lower even after gulping down the stuff :(

Worg Tartare, +40 to hit and stamina, never go anywhere without it. The best thing about it, is if i find myself running out, I always carry northern spices with me, so after a few minutes to a half an hours grind later, I have little less or more then a stack of it, now the best part is it doesn't require a cooking fire! You can just make them on the spot.
Also Small Feasts + Baby Spice is fun.

A food that would be fun to have is one that makes the character flatulent and venting a colored cloud with the usual associated trumpet noise :-D
Something like "Dalaran's beans 'n onion stew" or something

Not entirely the same, but I do love carrying Dragonbreath chili www.wowhead.com/?item=12239 in my bags for PVP.

The TCG loot card Goblin Gumbo has a gas cloud belch effect. It's an item and not a cooking recipe but you can put the gumbo pot on the ground and let other people enjoy it too.
There have been more than a few times that Paladins have followed me around trying to "cure" me. There is nothing like a Tauren belching and spouting noxious gas I guess.

I keep Dragonfin Filet for DPS and Snapper Extreme for tanking since my tank gear isn't hit capped.

I always have dragonfin filet on my tank, and poached musselback sculpin on my hunter. I generally keep fish feasts handy as well, for raids and instancing.

Fun wise, I would love to see more "useless except for fun" foods. Like Axolotl said, "Dalaran's beans 'n onion stew" would be funny. Or add emotes to the fun food as well. If you have the sad buff, you randomly start crying. If you are happy, you randomly start dancing.
Stat wise, I would like to see other combinations. I miss the spell power + spirit from BC. Ironically, because of the stamina boost in BC, sp + stam would have been a lot more useful then (at least as a caster).
What would be nice is something like spell (or attack) power and crit, hit, or haste.

Spicy Fried Herring! Getting amost half the flask amount of extra mp5 is just delicious and makes it even easier for a healer to swap to a +sp flask instead.
Just that I never got my Fish tracking yet, so I'm desperately hovering over pools in Howling Fjord for Fangtooth Herring schools.

Go to the salvage (?) pools in Zangarmarsh, by the steam thingies. My wife and I were leveling fishing and we both got it from there in like 3 minutes.
evankimori Mar 12th 2009 10:01AM
Check the lakes near the Horde/Taunka outpost and Alliance lake as well. There's ALWAYS schools there.

Having just soloed Dire Maul, I have been eating lots of the Cats inspired Runn Tum Tuber Surprise.

I love all the emotion foods, but the above peeps were right. They definitely need some emote to go along with them.
What would be really cool is if there were combos between food and drink that either boosted or decreased the buffs. E.g. you pair a glass of Dalaran Red with any meat dish and it multiplies your buff by 1.5; pair a fish dish with red and it halves your buff.
