The Queue: Seven

Welcome back to The Queue, WoW Insider's daily Q&A column where the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky will be your host today.
Before I wrote six. Now I'm writing seven. And if you got the picture on six, you'll probably understand why Kara Thrace is the featured image for this article where I answer seven of your questions. And if you don't understand what I'm talking about, just know that my girlfriend bears a resemblance to Katie Sackhoff (beyond sharing the same first name), and that's worthy of a Queue introduction right there. And mark my words, she is somehow related to the seventh Cylon. Starbuck, not my girlfriend (although...).
Nakabeast asked...
"Heirlooms and similar items are listed as "Bind on Account." Now wouldn't this make more sense if these BoA items actually did what their tooltip lists, and let us trade these throughout entire accounts, not just one server? I'd love for my Death Knight on my friend's server to have Murky and the Big Blizzard Bear."
While you can't do that right now, Blizzard has not ruled out the possibility for future inter-server transfers. Don't expect it anytime soon though. And personally, I'd be surprised if we see it at all.
Kyte asked...
"Can you server transfer a character with heirloom items?"
Yes.
Bundee asked...
"Speaking of unfinished business, whatever happened to mount enchants?"
They're on the backburner. Every week or so a blue seems to make a comment on it, basically saying that there's nothing right now about mount enchants or trinkets, but that there could be in the future.
Paraella asked...
"Do you know if, along with hearthstone cooldowns being lowered to 30 min in the new patch, if the refer-a-friend Summon Friend cooldown will also be lowered to 30 min? This would only make sense, as Summon Friend is often used right after hearth, right?"
Nothing yet, but it wouldn't surprise me to see it changed. And it has "stealth change" written all over it.
Uncletouchy asked...
"As a mage I have some questions about trinket timings. Does a trinket affect a spell that I have already cast but is still traveling to the boss? Ex. If I go through my 6 sec pyroblast cast time then pop my trinket as it's flying to the boss will it increase the spell power on my pyroblast? Also, does it affect DOTs after they've been cast on a target?"
No, to both questions. Think of a spell as a gift you give to someone. Once you give the gift, you can't change it anymore. And DOTs are kind of like a purity ring, once you give it to someone there's no stopping Grey's Anatomy.
Farthing asked...
"When I first started playing, my favorite weapons, and more rarely armor, all had fun procs or use effects). Why do so very few quest and dungeon rewards have effects like this in Burning Crusade and Wrath content?"
Since procs are in the end a random element, they can provide rather significant balance issues while leveling and, perhaps more importantly, cause a lot of confusion for newer players as they work on the leveling process. Save the more difficult concepts for the end game.
Akhi asked...
"Why are there no Gnome or Dwarf or Tauren Undead? Does the plague only work on people of a certain size?"
Because everyone hates Gnomes, Dwarves, and Taurens.

There's no spoilers here.
Now even denying there is a spoiler here is a spoiler, but we really don't know if this is a spoiler because there's a few more episodes left. So this is like a potential future imperfect temporal spoiler.
My head just asploded.

Pop culture references are an inherent part of pop culture. You're telling him he shouldn't reference anything but WoW, a show that has actually named a raid boss after the character in question, because then you might see something you didn't already know about a TV show that's four years old at this point, and you believe that you're being reasonable?
Grow up. The world doesn't have to lock itself in a box until you catch up.
MIchael Mar 12th 2009 5:21PM
@Adam Fair enough (about the saying if its a spoiler makes it a spoiler or whatever) but would you mind not making any more references since there are only a few episodes left? If there are THAT many catch 22s, maybe it's best just to not reference it at all?
Still love the posts, I just hate that feeling of having something revealed, whether it's a spoiler or not. If the show had ended years ago, then yes, you have every right to say who the last cylon is, but since it's still ongoing and hinges on the fact that you don't know who cylons are, i don't think it's really out of place to ask this politely.
Thanks again.

What about Thane Korth'azz?
Cedrich Mar 12th 2009 3:50PM
I think the same-server, same-faction limitation on BoA items is probably more of a technical issue then anything else... Since you can't currently do it at all, I doubt there is programming in place within the game mail system to support mailing between factions or realms. I'm sure they could make it work if they spent the time, but they probably have it pretty low on the old to-do list.
Irshalthra Mar 12th 2009 3:51PM
Tauren smell too bad - even the undead do not want them around.
Wet cow hmmmm.
NotADwarf Mar 12th 2009 4:11PM
I've seen ghostly iron dwarves in Northrend, does that count as undead?
Engima Mar 12th 2009 3:56PM
Ok I have a question:
I've noticed this portal floating in the air at Krasus's Landing ever now and then but I can't tell where its a portal to. Anyone know whats the deal with it?
Kvothe Mar 12th 2009 3:58PM
It's from a quest given at Krasus landing as a lead-in to the Sholazar quests. A mage at the landing asks you to go looking for Hemet Nessengwary, and puts you in a plane with a one-way portal to Sholazar. The portal, imo, is the coolest looking one in the game; too bad they didn't give it to players...

If you think of the Plague as a mutation the following may be true:
Dwarf: Racial ability stone form removes diseases. It's safe to assume that dwarf metabolic system in some way interfere with the plagues reanimating process. It should be noted that the Halls of Lightning refer to a contamination to the creation matrix that cause them to become flesh. This may have been a proto-plague thus immunizing them from further mutation.
Gnomes: Also revealed in Uldaman is that Gnomes along with Troggs are degenerations of the Dwarfs and thus share immunity for the same reason. You will notice there are no undead Troggs.
Tauren: I suspect that they are too closely evolved to animal or bovine. Genetically speaking they are drastically different. I come to this conclusion that Humans and Orcs can mate, so can Orcs and Dreanei (see the Blademaster in Nagrand). Night Elves, Blood Elves, High Elves, Naga and Trolls all trace their roots back to the same race as well. I have not seen undead Naga ans suspect that is because the Well protects them as already mutated.

Is the Realm First Ulduar Achievement based on completing Ulduar on Easy Mode or is it based on clearing the entire place including the optional Algalon "the Raid Destroyer"?
Matt J Mar 12th 2009 5:13PM
Most likely it will be tied to being the first on the realm to kill Yogg-Saron (aka. Ol' Yoggie). All of the realm firsts on Naxx/Sarth/Maly were just straight up end boss kills, and I doubt that'd change.

Why do some Tier sets not have boots/belts/bracers? Its really annoys me to have unmatching items when I have a full Tier set on >_
Braundo Mar 12th 2009 4:38PM
The old 8- (or 9-) piece sets allowed for much less freedom in gear selection. Now you can mix and match many more non-set slots while still wearing your full tier set if you want.
Bendy Walker Mar 12th 2009 4:49PM
I see. But still... isn't Tier gear meant to be the best, most optimized gear for your class? And aesthetically, nothing looks better than a full set of matching, kick-ass looking armor. :)

Please Please Please stop spoiling stuff about BSG! I am watching it with some friends and we are only in the middle of the first season, so it really sucks if something is spoiled or really alluded to. This is a WoW blog, I dont understand why BSG is here so much!
Rexton Mar 12th 2009 4:05PM
Say for some reason I want all the self-enchants and gold is not an object. Can I hop from tailoring for the cloak enchant, inscribing for the shoulders, enchanting for the...enchants...yeah. You get the picture. Anyway, will there be a problem with the enchants if I switch from profession to profession to get the enchants other than the obvious money plunge?
frzz Mar 12th 2009 4:09PM
the higher level enchants require you to be a certain level enchanter/leatherworker/etc.
Tully Mar 12th 2009 4:10PM
Wow. I can't believe you ruined BSG for me and how many others?
Are you that inconsiderate or just obtuse? Is this a middle finger to your readers? Way to make a crappy article even worse. Jerk.
