Extended maintenance for March 17th is extended

Today's extended maintenance, intended to last from 3 AM PDT until 11 AM PDT, has been extended further. As you can see from the picture on the right, the downtime has been extended until 1 PM PDT. We don't know the exact reasons for this downtime, but we were overdue for a chaotically bad maintenance day. To be honest I was sort of starting to miss them. The thrill! The excitement!Anyway, if anything further happens with today's maintenance or we find out the reason for the further extension, we'll be sure to let you know. Keep an eye on WoW Insider, my friends!

Forums have been down since almost 6:00 AM PDT, you can see all the posts come to a halt about that time. Guess I'll go see what things our like outside, and brave the "day star".

If I were in charge, I'd shut down the forums every time people are likely to complain. Let people read about paladin being nerfed, then give them a two day time out to cool down from the system shock.

It sort of baffles me Blizzard actually refunds a day or two every now and again for excessive maintenance. TimeWarner, my ISP/Cable provider (only because there is NO ONE else where I live) frequently leaves me high and dry for much longer than any realm maintenance and I get nothing in return other than my normal monthly bill.

Most ISP's don't refund unless you make them.. so call them and complain! I guarantee they will give you "something".. (question is.. is it worth it).

I just keep setting at the Authentication screen then getting the Disconnected From Server error. Whee!!

I'm guessing it has something to do with the authentication servers/member-id database. Haven't been able to log into anything other than armory for a while, and I'm not sure how solid that armory login is anyway, as it's linked to a cookie.

If you buy a year membership at a club, they don't only count the days you show up, and if they're closed on Christmas Day, or something, you don't get an extra day tacked onto the end.
If you lease a car for a year, and you take it in for a tune-up that takes 24 hours, they don't give you an extra day on the end.
If you rent a video, they don't start the 2 day countdown when you pop it into your DVD player.
