Around Azeroth: In the midnight hour
Late-night WoW players have a very different gaming experience from those who play during prime time. The night shifters, time-zone oddballs, and insomniacs of a guild or a server tend to form a special bond. One by one, people log off to go to bed or to work, until at around two to three in the morning you're left with a group of players that you know are going to be there until dawn. You can either join up together, running your remaining heroics and hanging out with the drunks in Vent, or you can strike out on your own and enjoy time spent in a peaceful, deserted Azeroth. Nitetrain of <Heroes of Old> on Stormreaver chose the latter path one night, and send us some lovely photos of late night and dawn at the Auberdine docks. Here's to you, night shifters!
Do you have any unusual World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see it on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, double-mounts, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran.

It's really nice to see how some of the Azeroth areas change accordingly with time of day and night. Some zones just feel more...'homely' when it's night. Azhara for example.
I just wish that the time would actually show more in certain zones. I honestly wouldn't mind questing in a zone simply because it shows time continuity.
Now if they had time of day affect mob appearance/spawn times-that would be different. But it would wreak havoc with grinding and questing.

for my first few years of playing WoW, i rarely saw the game in daylight. the occasional weekend where i had time to play during the day had me just staring around at everything bathed in sunlight. it was weird. lol!

Azeroth mainlands are a lot darker at night than Northrend.
barra Mar 18th 2009 11:05AM
Must be the northern light or something...

nice screenshot :)
being insomniac, it's true that playing by night made me befriend with ppl I could'nt have met otherwise. It's also true that, in the midnight hour, I can feel the power.
I dislike Madonna, but no one did that pun so ... :)

For those of u who like Wilson Pickett:
I'm gonna wait 'til the midnight hour
That's when my love comes tumbling down
I'm gonna wait 'til the midnight hour
When there's no one else around
I'm gonna take you girl and hold you
Do all things I told you
In the midnight hour
Yes I am, whoa, yes I am
I’m gonna wait 'til the stars come out
See them twinkle in your eyes
I'm gonna wait 'til the midnight hour
That's when my love begins to shine
You're the only girl I know
Really love you so
In the midnight hour
I'm gonna wait 'til the midnight hour
That's when my love comes tumbling down
I'm gonna wait 'til the midnight hour
That's when my love begins to shine
Just you and I, oh baby, just you and I
For those of u who like Madonna:
Life is a mystery, everyone must stand alone
I hear you call my name
And it feels like home
When you call my name it's like a little prayer
I'm down on my knees, I wanna take you there
In the midnight hour I can feel your power
Just like a prayer you know I'll take you there
I hear your voice, it's like an angel sighing
I have no choice, I hear your voice
Feels like flying
I close my eyes, Oh God I think I'm falling
Out of the sky, I close my eyes
Heaven help me

For those of you that like Tina Turner:
...
Wait, no one likes Tina Turner.

@yeng
Tuna turner rox, she was the ruler of Bartertown!
Yeng Mar 19th 2009 10:04AM
I meant her 'singing' career. Not her um 'acting' career. Though you can't beat some Mad Max.

I'm quickly becoming one of the described people. I may settle down after I get my mammoth, however.
