The Queue: Meow now

Welcome back to The Queue, WoW Insider's daily Q&A column where the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky will be your host today.
The above picture took me all of five minutes to put together. Super Troopers is a great movie, and I encourage you all to go watch it today. But finish reading WoW Insider first, and in particular finish reading The Queue to understand the reference. How many times can Alex say Mountain Dew? The answer is a lot. Update: Go and read Massively's take on the coming Mountain Dew. It's quite good.037 asked...
"Now that you can queue for battlegrounds from anywhere, are we looking at the new ghetto hearth?"
No. Queuing for a battleground will send you right back to the place where you entered the battleground from.
Lorsty asked...
"I have a question for the queue. Why isn't there a Feat of Strength for going from level 1 to 80 without dying?"
That's a great idea. But unfortunately nothing like that exists, and even if it did I highly doubt it would be possible under any normal circumstances. You'd have to basically always fight mobs you were 100% sure wouldn't kill you. And the psychological damage to a person after they died at level 79 fighting some easy mob would be too much, I think.
Lorsty also asked...
"What are the chances of knowing about the next expansion during this year's BlizzCon?"
I would say pretty good, although it's really just speculation. Anyone claiming to know for sure what the next expansion is doesn't. Blizzard knows, but it's a closely guarded secret and it's a secret a lot of people like to claim that they know. And anyone that does know won't say so publicly, and will swear up and down they don't know. And no, I don't know so don't ask. For reals.
KJS asked...
"Currently, I have two level 80 Horde toons on my server, and three level 70 Alliance toons on this same server. Do you think Blizz will ever allow any/or all of my Alliance toons to become Horde toons or vice versa? It stinks to have to re-level toons from level 1, when I have three level 70's just sitting there doing nothing."
Very unlikely. Blizzard folks have often said that they don't want to disrupt the class balance and faction balance in the game (balance as in number of rogues to the number of warlocks). Blizzard also likes to maintain an overall RP sense in the game, and allowing faction changes would destroy that. And before people ask, sex change is an RP element in the medieval fantasy world that has been around long before WoW, with the earliest I can think of being Elminster from Ed Greenwood's series. Changing from a Human to Orc really isn't. At least not a common one by any means.
Johnnytorrance asked...
"Anyone know if there are going to be Certificates of Ownership for Guilds? Like being be able to change your guild name?"
Blizzard has said they have no plans to allow guild name changes. However I think this might eventually change since some guilds invest significant gold in owning bank slots, etc... But really, the whole guild interface needs an overhaul. Blizzard has mentioned this however as something they'd eventually like to work on. But don't expect it anytime soon.
Osi asked...
"'poopoo on him' What Alex, are you? 5?"
He's actually five and a half. He points that out every night in WoW Insider chat.
Matrim asked...
"So seriously, what's with all the Mt. Dew plugs? Do you guys get paid every time you say it?"
Mountain Dew is in no way sponsoring the numerous Mountain Dew references with Mountain Dew on this non-Mountain Dew affiliated page full of precarious Mountain Dew references. Mountain Dew.
Balius asked...
"So, as the authors of the article, are we killing your content by trying to be helpful, or are you perfectly happy re-answering questions that the commenters have already answered? I like being helpful, but I don't want to step on toes here."
Please continue to be helpful! We'll often choose a question that didn't get answered by folks, so everyone helping is greatly appreciated! And seriously, we love reading positive comments from people helping other people. It's much better than reading trolls and such.
You folks can also have different viewpoints than all of us writers, and we don't have all the answers. So often times you help us out too with insight into answers we might not have thought of. We give you credit in those cases too.

Try turning on the Mouse Keys, if you're using Windows. It's an Accessibility option, and you can control your pointer with the arrow keys.

Just write a program to do that mouse clicks for you. That's what all the cool kids do.
"The best way to simulate mouse events is to call the OnEventName method that raises the mouse event you want to simulate. This option is usually possible only within custom controls and forms, because the methods that raise events are protected and cannot be accessed outside the control or form."

There is a way to bind a key to the right mouse button within WoW, but I don't recall it offhand (it's at home, I'm at work). I'll try to post the link to this chain, after I get home.

Here's the script to bind a key (in this case the V key) to the right mouse button action:
/script SetBinding("V","TURNORACTION");Savebinding(Get(CurrentBindingSet))

It seems like a lot of it is speculation, do you have access to the secret blizzard lore database or do you just make up a lot of the answers?
Zerokku Mar 19th 2009 11:37AM
www.wowwiki.com
=P
Shinn Mar 19th 2009 4:21PM
Lol thanks Z.
What is this place here at WI? Some sort of secret base of Blizzard that may or may not have all the answers?
Mark Mar 19th 2009 7:02PM
Thanks...lol
I guess my question was more how do wowwiki and WI know they match Blizzards view of things.. For example: the recent comment "Since the Black Dragonflight created the Twilight Drakes" - its probably right I just wonder if Blizzard agrees this is correct or if WI is extrapolating and 'guessing' about the lore.

With the best PVP gear comming from Arenas these days (or badges and VoA, I know), is there much of a reason to play battlegrounds? I feel like there must be level 80 rewards for at least Strand of the Ancients, and I just didn't see the vendor. I'd like to organize pre-mades on the alliance side to win more in my battlegroup where Horde dominate, but right now I'm not seeing the rewards for doing so. Please tell me I missed something.
I've already got the PVP gear from WG, and was glad they had that in game, but I don't really like arenas, but I like PVP. Anyone else with me on this one?
Catiya of Feathermoon Mar 19th 2009 11:44AM
I /entirely/ agree with you! My significant other and I were just discussing this. We used to love to take a break from heroics, dailies and raids by working towards the old arena sets by doing BGs. Now, there seems to be no reward for putting a lot of time into BGs aside from achievements and that makes us sad.
:(

"is there much of a reason to play battlegrounds?"
Yes. For fun. *gasp*
/ya, really
bundee Mar 19th 2009 12:10PM
Funny you say you like PVP, yet you don't like arenas, and you don't do battlegrounds unless they give you loot. I'm sorry but you don't like PVP.
Catiya of Feathermoon Mar 19th 2009 12:24PM
@bundee
Nah, we still do them! Just saying we were sad the reward is gone. No need to pass judgement :], my favorite is AB and I do it whenever I have time reguardless.
Oriflame Mar 19th 2009 1:19PM
I never said I didn't play them, I said I didn't organize pre-mades to try to turn the tide in a battlegroup where horde usually wins by being more organized or better geared. If there isn't a reward for winning, then I'll keep playing, but I'll be looking to get the most HKs or the most flag caps rather than trying to win for no prize.
Would you run raids for no loot? Come on.
Morbid Mar 19th 2009 1:26PM
Savage gladiator set, honor bought, 50k a piece I believe.
xnera Mar 19th 2009 1:25PM
tottaly i cant stand the pressure in arena, or the fact that having a lesser class/setup can almost alway mean defeate.
When BC came out was PvP instantly buyable? maybie they will let this seans rewards be honor buyable in the next season, well im hoping any way :]
Spoonman Mar 19th 2009 2:11PM
I totally agree, arena seems kinda mandatory now if you want something out of pvp

My favorite BG was Alterac Valley. It really showed the spirit of Warcraft, with tower capture, resource gathering, and taking out key units. I dislike the mad dash to the finish it has become. Recently, I've taken a liking to Wintergrasp, but you can't que up for another one as soon as the first is over.
Eye of the Storm is the least well designed BG. Unlike some parts of BC which have very little plot, EotS has NO plot whatsoever, so no faction rewards. Gameplay is lacking as well. It's like tossing a coin. Depending on how the other team plays, you either end up playing AB or WSG, but don't really have anything unique from either, aside from the possibility of falling to your doom.
Why didn't EotS and SotA get factions/World entrances? I realize flying probably has something to do with it, but since you don't use portals anymore anyway, they could just have a ship with some guys on it for SotA, and a combat base with teleporters for EotS
bundee Mar 19th 2009 11:17AM
Anyone know why people call it "ghetto hearthing"? Whats so ghetto about it?
Dave Mar 19th 2009 11:48AM
It's the same as how sticking your phone in your headband is "ghetto bluetooth." Something less functional/more cumbersome/"not as hip" that accomplishes the same thing.
