Two Bosses Enter: Infinite Corruptor vs. Gortok Palehoof

With the past week's battle devolving into a popularity contest (a Mal'Ganis landslide over Varos Cloudstrider), we come to the next deathmatch in our Wrath season lineup: the Infinite Corruptor (The Culling of Stratholme) versus Gortok Palehoof (Utgarde Pinnacle). Get ready to unleash your comments, because this matchup will call upon your creativity to lay out the likely outcome of this protracted battle.
You see, the Infinite Corruptor is the not-so-sociable Dragonspawn from The Culling of Stratholme's heroic timed event. He leaves the instance ("My work here is finished!") if you don't defeat him within 25 minutes. Well, we're not going to give Gortok a free hall pass here – he's going to have to work his way through things in 25 minutes, too, along with his posse: the Furbolg, the Worgen, the Rhino and the Jormungar.
The usual rules apply: assume that the opponents share similar levels, health pools and damage output. Obviously, they are not battling in neutral territory. Gortok and his buddies will need to make it through Old Stratholme and down the Infinite Corruptor in 25 minutes or less. Assume that Gortok's group knows where to go and how to reach their ultimate opponent. Consider it a defeat for Gortok Palehoof and his crew, if you postulate that they cannot successfully make their way to the Infinite Corruptor. And as with last week's battle, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense that Arthas should be here to butt in, so consider Arthas out.
Remember, focus your debate on the three S's: Style, Story and Scale. Don't get caught up in game mechanics and what players might do in each encounter. Consider the flavor each villainous gladiator brings to bear, then cast your vote for who you think would come out on top.
Infinite CorruptorThe Infinite Corruptor is a male Dragonspawn of the Infinite Dragonflight, located in Market Row just past the gate leading to Mal'Ganis. If opponents do not kill him within 25 minutes of entering Old Stratholme, he finishes his task of corrupting a Bronze Drakonid and leaves the instance, calling out "My work here is finished!"
Read more about the Infinite Corruptor's background and tactics, and sift through player comments about his typical battle plan.
Gortok PalehoofThe Magnataur Gortok Palehoof is the second boss of Utgarde Pinnacle. He will be simultaneously accompanied for the duration of this battle through Old Stratholme by his companions the Furbolg, the Worgen, the Rhino and the Jormunger.
Ravenous Furbolg
Frenzied Worgen
Ferocious Rhino
Massive Jormungar
- Acid Spit
- Acid Splatter
- Poison Breath
- Summons smaller worms (We'll allow three worms every 5 minutes; none for the final battle against the Infinite Corruptor.)
The smackdown
Remember: no player-tactic or game-mechanic nitpicking. Vote for the spirit of the battle as set forth above. Set aside differences in opponents' health pools, game level and actual damage output, and size up these villains based on their fighting style.
It's not just who wins -- it's why. What's your reasoning? Post up, and let's come up with what goes down!

I would say Infinite Corruptor as his Corrupting Blight Tick for 8% hp of max per 3 sec. meaning you're dead within 39 secounds anyway. possibly less with including his normal attacks

Got it in one. Forget about the gauntlet required to get to the corruptor, once there, the entire crew dies in 30 seconds. None of them have healing abilities.
Corruptor 1, Overstuffed Giants 0

I consider it a draw if Gortok can't make it there in time, and since he wouldn't even fit through a lot of the doors, he would have to waste far too long ripping open a bigger hole!
Lorgash Mar 19th 2009 4:12PM
I'd have to go with the Infinite Corruptor, even though Gortok has numbers on his side, He's gotta fight the clock, to get there and get his act together. Doubtful!
RetPallyJil Mar 19th 2009 4:12PM
I thought adds and assistants don't count in this battle?
Either way, IC takes it.
Hoggersbud Mar 19th 2009 4:30PM
Obviously in this case, we're making an exception. Normally we'd just put the bosses in a room to fight anyway, none of that timed run nonsense...and that I'd have to give to Gortok as well.
RetPallyJil Mar 19th 2009 5:19PM
I don't do exceptions. Either you accept them, or you don't.
So there :P
Hoggersbud Mar 19th 2009 6:23PM
Well, then you're going to be running into a lot of things you can't accept, since this isn't the first, and won't be the last time it's going to be a case where the fight is going to be simply a case of putting the bosses in a cage and duking it out.
That really wouldn't be fun IMHO, I much prefer the conditions to be set up in interesting ways when it's desirable.

I'm going with Palehoof here. Considering he brings a full on party thats full of bleed skills I think it washes out the Infinite Corrupters abilities and puts him in the losing end of a DPS race....that Rhino's Gore is ouch ouch ouch.
Mastique Mar 19th 2009 4:17PM
Yep, with his buddies, plus Arthas.. he would never make it in time. hehe
Shinn Mar 19th 2009 6:19PM
Arthas doesn't count, assume straight run... read the whole post plox! :)
I voted Gortok, I think at least 2 of the party would die on the way to the Corrupter and there doesn't seem to be a rezzer but I don't think IC has the right abilities to down them all before they did too much damage to him.
akhenaton Mar 19th 2009 4:41PM
Infinite corruptor he's a massive dragon! he's also rarer, harder and looks cooler ^^
Jillemixie Mar 19th 2009 4:19PM
Gortok. No doubt. Even if he has to beat the timer, he has a possy of 4 other boss-esque elites. They'd pummel IC in no time.
bundee Mar 19th 2009 4:20PM
Gortok has it all the way. Not only does he have 1 more ability than the infinite corruptor, he has 4 minions. Infinite Corrupter doesn't stand a chance.
Samedji Mar 19th 2009 4:30PM
Remember, it's not just about which boss would win, it's about the race to the finish. Gortok and friends (Heretoforth G&F) have to make it through 8 waves of undead, several waves of dragonflight, some miscellaneous baddies down that last hallway, and then the Corrupter himself. Don't forget about Meathook, the Fleshcrafter, and the Infinite agent in town hall, as well.
Even with all of these distractions, I think Gortok takes this home. The Rhino has some serious tanking and damage dealing abilities, on par with a DK. The worm quickly whittles down boss armor and HP, while Gortok and the Furbolg have some serious AOE abilities. With that potent combination of single target damage, and AOE clearing, it should be no small matter to get to IC in 25 minutes. Even assuming that he loses his two least useful assistants in this quest, the Wolvar and the Furbolg, I think the combination of stuns and damage dealing abilities is too much for the ol' corrupter. Gortok and his buddies better bring along dice, because they'll be rolling for an epic riding drake.
Natsumi Mar 19th 2009 6:26PM
I vote IC, here is why:
1) The Firbolg can't stay focused. His Crazed ability means he will spend as much time attacking worthless zombies as elites or bosses, especially in the Gauntlet.
2) As the only ranged, Jormungar gets chained 4 times in a row and is therefore useless on the first boss. With Firbolg being a noob, this means that the G&F group is down 2 people for the first boss.
3) Nobody can heal. have you ever tried to run an instance without a healer? 5 DK Ramparts not withstanding, it just can't be done.
4) If Arthas is needed, it's most likely a fail. That paper plate wearing pally has delusions of invincibility and charges through zombies to get to elites, often while the group running through with him is still fighting other elites.
5) Home field advantage.
csdx Mar 20th 2009 10:35AM
1) even if the furbolg is distracted, withiring roar clears all the trash so he'll focus on the boss again
2) Jurmunger will just eat the chains, but with trash constantly cleared, the furbolg will be on the boss
3)no one can heal during each fight, but we all know bosses regenerate to full given a few seconds out of combat
4)Arthas can only add (marginally) to the dps, not like he does enough to draw aggro otherwise
5)Actually Gortok has more of an advantage, actually having a full party out at once rather than his typical one at a time format
peagle Mar 19th 2009 4:23PM
Infinite Corruptor goes back in time, punts baby Gortok over a hill for instant win.
Bikhai Mar 19th 2009 4:24PM
When I first saw this I thought it would be a land slide for the infinite corruptor, given that the dot he puts up ticks for a percent of max health every few seconds. However, there's an added dimension because of the fact that he only puts it on one enemy at a time, and he only puts it up every 20 seconds or so. Sure, it may knock out one guy in 39 seconds, but if Palehoof's got his posse with him, that's still 4 versus 1. Gonna have to go with the crew from UP here. Given the amount of time in between IC's applications of that dot in-game, by the time he's put it up once or twice, his five oppents will have ripped him to shreds.
It's MAYBE a tie if IC manages to get the dot up on everyone before he dies.
Mintoes Mar 19th 2009 4:25PM
No way they would be able to get to the battle and win with and all be still alive with no healing support. Plus the Corrupting Blight would destroy whoever is left alive assuming they could even get there in time.
