The Daily Quest: Of Rogue PvP, Hunter macros and the Flying Bear maneuver
- Etaiu at the new Leatherbelly Feral Bear Tank blog has posted the video above which shows a technique that will be available to Druids in 3.1. Essentially you can use a series of macros to start in cat form, then use Cat Feral Charge to leap towards your opponent, shift to Bear form midleap and drop a 360 degree Swipe immediately upon landing. Not only do you avoid having to spend 5 Rage you don't have on Bear Feral Charge, but you'll have enough rage to open up with a Swipe from shifting midleap.
- Delos at Laser Chicken has posted a round up of his Wrath Moonkin gear lists based on how you want to get it: auction house, rep, quest or crafted.
- The Hunting Lodge wants to explain to you, yes you who ask this question 3 times a day on the official forums, why Hunters can't have a shot rotation macro.
- Warcraft Econ has a guest post on how to make 3k-4kg profit in 48 hours selling Glyphs.
- The Slice and Dice blog has posted a look into the PvP talents of all three Rogue trees.

Flying bears scare me. And Colbert.
Kakistocracy Mar 20th 2009 9:34PM
Well they are godless killing machines.

They need to make a video of this from flying form-Rawr bombing down, shifting to cat for charge, shifting to bear to swipe.
Mmmm...ultimate triple transformation rawr bomb.

The best way to let us know about good posts on other blogs is to send us a tip via our tip line. We do our best to look into every tip that comes through!

Thanks for the tip on how to get posted Adam. However, this only works if the people at WoWinsider don't delete all of your comments as they have done with me and the WoWenomics blog. In fact, all of my comments have been deleted due to censorship at WoWinsider. We've written requesting explanation and have yet to get a response... just more censorship. Interesting considering we haven't broken any of the stated comment rules. Maybe if I started hawking Moutain Dew it would help ;P

True, but once it gets to WoWinsider you and the rest of the bloggers decide priority of the tips, and decide if they're truly important or they can be sidelined/written up as garbage. For example, I sent in a tip a few weeks back about twink changes on the PTR, and I didn't see a story on it for a few more days after. I'm not QQ'ing about that or anything (even tho I considered that a major change), but Jederus probably figured this would be the fastest way for the information to get onto WoWinsider.
The video included with this article was truly epic. It was like a big, fat, furry Shadowstep lol

"The Hunting Lodge wants to explain to you, yes you who ask this question 3 times a day on the official forums, why Hunters can't have a shot rotation macro."
Pardon? He didn't explain anything. He said "because GC said we shouldn't." There's no obvious reason from that article whatsoever why I shouldn't just put kill shot, explosive shot, auto-shot, and steady shot all in one macro and spam it.
Please note, I'm not arguing that one macro is the best way to go. I'm just saying I went to the link expecting a reason and got "GC said so."
brigwyn Mar 20th 2009 9:24PM
Sorry to dissapoint you.
But that is the reason. GC and the Blizz Team stated that a class shouldn't rely on a single shot rotation macro.
However, to be completely candid I did also mention the mechanical reasons shot rotation macros fail. But apologize if that wasn't made more clear.
Thanks WI for the link!! :) much appreciated
Kakistocracy Mar 20th 2009 9:40PM
The mechanical reasons aren't so much "why Hunters can't have a shot rotation macro", as why they don't have one.
AyaJulia Mar 21st 2009 12:38AM
"GC and the Blizz Team stated"
GC and the dev team say a lot of things to try to change the players' play style. People often disagree and keep doing it the way they want to do it, because they feel it's more efficient. "GC said so" isn't a reason, it's a warning that our method is going to get nerfed to fit their perception of how we should play.

@ brygwin: Actually, you don't explain why "Keeping track of each shot’s cool downs and firing them off at the right moment at the right time" maximizes "every shot’s cool down effectively." When is the right moment to hit Steady Shot, and why can't a macro do this? The right moment is when Arcane and Multi-Shot are on CD, and WOW, a macro knows exactly when this is happening!
I do not see a list of "mechanical reasons". What did Blizzard do "mechanically" to the cooldowns of Steady Shot, Arcane Shot, Auto Shot, and Multi-Shot that makes manually hitting them more efficient then telling a macro to hit them the very second they come off cooldown?
It is possible (not to mention efficient) to use a spam macro and still manage stings, trinkets, and pets. It's not about laziness for experienced hunters, it's about efficiency.

Thanks Michael, you said what I was trying to, but much better. :)

Right, we do have to prioritize our content. We publish *a lot* each day, and there is a pretty clear imperative that some types of news gets front billing: breaking news concerning patches, ptrs, major class comments, etc... This often times means we have to push things off until the next day (which means other things have to be pushed back, and then other things, etc...), but alas that's the cycle of news and information. I have some posts that have been written for months that I'd love to get out, but that's not going to happen as long as Ghostcrawler and company keep giving us new class information.
Also, there are only so many eyes we all have to go over what for some of us is several hundred emails each day. So if we miss something, the best thing to do is to just submit it again a few days later and we'll pick up on it hopefully. =)
Alkaios Mar 20th 2009 9:25PM
'Tis the life of a blogger I guess. Understandable.
Lack of ALL up-to-date info won't stop me from reading WoWinsider everyday though haha.

I look forward to trying out the FBM. Though, the intro in this article makes it sound like you'll have to wait till 3.1 for the maneuver to work, which is totally not true. It'll just be more useful then, what with the 360 degree swipe that will immediately follow.
You can, nonetheless, use it now. It's a pretty snazzy way to get to the far side of a group of mobs if you're planning on tanking on the outside (that is, with the mobs between you and the rest of the group...like this: ranged....melee..mobs....you)
Side note: I'm proud to state that the bear in that video is my guild master. Blood and Thunder!!
