Blizzard honors Resto4Life with an in-game item
The blogging community lost a great voice recently, as Phaelia stepped down and closed the doors of Resto4Life, the premiere Druid Healing blog. It seems even Blizzard realizes the contributions Phaelia's made to the game, and has honored her in the form of Phaelia's Vestments of the Sprouting Seed. It is, of course, a leather healing chestpiece, complete with a name that refers to one of Phaelia's main reasons for stepping down. MMO Champion lists as a drop off of the 25-man version of the Iron Council (I would have guessed Freya).
It's always nice when Blizzard recognizes those community members who have gone above and beyond to help out the WoW community by giving them a shout-out in game, and Phaelia's definitely deserving. We'll join Blizzard and the Druid community in one more cheer and raised glass to Phaelia. Here's wishing her good luck with the sproutling and her new, non-blogging life.

That's really awesome of Blizzard. Grats to Phaelia, in more than one way.
Hilus Mar 21st 2009 8:07PM
REALLY cool...

I hope this won't make druids look fat.
Hoggersbud Mar 21st 2009 8:49PM
Only if they're Tauren.
Evi Mar 21st 2009 8:10PM
That's really neat! Congratulations, Phaelia.
dcisko Mar 21st 2009 8:11PM
That is made of 100% win. Phaelia deserves such honor; she's done wonders for both hardcore and more casual druids. /salute both Phae and Blizzard!

Very cool, and one of those things I'll try and remember the next time I want to complain about the evil Blizzard robots nerfing [X] as part of a personal vendetta against me and my Recount addiction..

very cool, when blizz does things like this, it makes me forget about the all the nerfs :)

Resto4Life: here's a boomkin item in honor of you.
sounds kinda... off =p
Michael Mar 21st 2009 8:41PM
Yeah, it has crit, but so does 1/2 of the resto T7 gear. The key to resto gear now is the spirit--there's tons of spirit on that one, so it's definitely better suited to resto than boomkin.
Manatank Mar 21st 2009 8:43PM
And what would you be expecting to see on resto gear? I suspect you don't know what you are talking about Quidamtyra.
SmokeTheBear Mar 21st 2009 9:02PM
They're buffing Nourish in this patch, and putting an emphasis on using more crittable spells in the resto druid arsenal. This seems aimed at that emphasis.
If it had *hit* on it, on the other hand, you'd have a point.
Thebum Mar 21st 2009 9:31PM
Boomkin item you say? That one is actually pretty bad for boomkins. Too much spirit, that's almost useless for us except for a little spelldamage. And there is no haste on it either, and no red socket slots.
Zerokku Mar 21st 2009 8:29PM
That's just awesome.
Gotta say, Blizzard has class.

This is what seperates Blizzard from other MMO's. This isn't the first time Blizzard has honored someone with an in-game acknowledgement.

I can't wait for the day when a gun is made honouring BRK, with stats only a BM hunter would want, maybe with an effect for +100AP versus Paladins/Cockroaches in PvP combat.
SmokeTheBear Mar 21st 2009 9:05PM
Seriously. BRK is one of the most prominent voices of the entire player community. Still, I'd like to see some recognition of the deeper theorycrafters, the ones who crunch the numbers and provide us all with spreadsheets and item lists and stat valuations...
Cheeky, Toskk... hell, have a math-referencing quest that mentions some "elitist jerks" or something.
Falcio Mar 21st 2009 9:40PM
I approve of this.
Balius Mar 21st 2009 9:09PM
A quest where an elitist jerk has you put new gear onto a table would be MADE of win.
Matt Mar 21st 2009 10:40PM
Members of Elitist Jerks have already been immortalized in the game. Gurgthock is the leader of EJ and has been the NPC governing the Ring of Blood and Ampitheater of Anguish quests in Nagrand and Zul'Drak respectively. At the AoA, he is actually accompanied by Wodin, who is another member of EJ.
