Disembodied skull confirms new Battleground, your grim future
In what can only be called a grim portent, a disembodied skull haunted the official World of Warcraft forums today. A local farmer noted that the skull had visited the area previously, but "only in times of dour weather, or when death was near for m'cows, or when someone was trolling."
"We were just complaining about Battlegrounds," said a priest who witnessed the visitation of the gruesome geist, "when all of a sudden it appeared, and we knew right then that it was an omen, and one of us was going to die soon, or possibly that it was going to tell us about an upcoming game feature we hadn't heard about yet."
The skull, floating ominously above the gathering crowd, apparated a set of evanescent words, formed likely of the spirit's own ectoplasm, tinged with a blue color known only to come from the world beyond.
Unencumbered by gravity or PR sensibilities, it augured that a new Battleground is in the works. The reaction was one of fear and of somber gratitude for the spirit, and its otherworldly masters, for passing along an omen as important as this. When the prophesied Battleground would appear is still unknown, as the spirits who visit the forums are not wont to reveal such information.
Before it disapparated as quickly as it had come, the skull also noted that you're going to die.

So when are we gonna be able to queue to more than 3 bgs? :(

That article was so awesome I had to post my approval.
I'm fairly indifferent to the actual content though.

Azshara Crater please?

Felt like something I might read in the Onion.

Here's an idea. Fix all the broken BG's first?
Strand: Random starting teams instead of Alliance only.
AV: Well. Deleting it all together might help.
WG: Some many things wrong, not enough room here.

I love the style! It totally reminds me of Onion articles, and if there isn't much to say, than I'd prefer a fake news article style than just a couple links in a blah blah paragraph. Much more amusing.

lol rofl so they say, but the skull forgot to say I would be the one doing all the owning.

I just hope they give this BG a story that's deeper than the nonexistent one given to SOTA (and if it does have a story I'd be glad to hear it). After the 3 vanilla BGs it seems blizz doesn't think they need to justify why the alliance and horde are so interested in fighting each other over and over again on these small postage-stamp-sized bits of land.
That said I'm really looking forward to the new BG whatever it is and I'll take it even if there is zero story to be had.

Know what amuses me to no end? All the calls for a Deathmatch BG when you've got plenty of that in the arena system. Don't you realize that arena people will play the deathmatch BG and make it just as miserable for you as arena is? Or do you just want puggable arena? I can never tell with these average wowinsider baddies.

I'd rather see them fix AV and WSG.
Does anyone still remember all the cool stuff that used to be in AV? The huge summonable creatures, the bombers, the turn-ins, and so on? Now it's a shadow of its former self. It's better now overall, but I wish they'd bring back some of the cool features of the past. I agree with some other people here: they should make it into something like Wintergrasp, where it's a persistent PvP zone.
As for WSG, if both sides capture the other side's flag, it turns into a game of who can hide and turtle the longest, which isn't fun at all. Why not make it so that when one flag is captured, the other one disappears until the other one is reset?

Most importantly...
Break the freekin glass around the almighty "Shuffle" button in some server bunker in Wisconsin and mix these stale battle groups up already!! Its been what....2+ years? And they wonder why arena/pvp attendance is down...
I bet some others out there remember the realm only battlegrounds...spending hours questing in the AB queue on an AB weekend...thinking WSG4 was worth a /g wow i'm in WSG4!! and all that...now think back to the excitement of that first week with cross realm battlegrounds (ummm...excitement of playing fresh, new opponents, the excitement of short queues, or being in av 139...not alt-tabing and ending wow.exe hoping you were just lagging, and the whole battlegroup didn't cripple to the ground yet again)
I'm talking a gnome-sized change MyBattlegroundArray[10] here, but it seems like an adrenaline shot in the arm to both arena and pvp alike.
oh, and yeah, SOTA needs random starts...horde on defense all the time is unfair, not to mention boring...and AV will never be fun again until you can loot epics off dead gnomes (ooooo remember that?)

I enjoyed Sacco's post.
Not because it's RP
But because there's there was really nothing to say about 'the Floating Skull's' new Battleground post, yet wowinsider couldn't just remain silent could they?
Would you prefer the CNN gush of "OMG important newsmaker said..." ?
Yes that's "journalism".
For my part I enjoy a little creativity.

Oh wow... A new BG. The third new one in 5 years.
Tickle me excited.

I just wanted to post to say that the "RP" style of the article was very entertaining. I enjoyed reading it.
