New Crusader Strike is in the works

The bad news is that this change isn't going to happen. Ghostcrawler was quick to prevent mass hysteria by saying that this change will not make it into Patch 3.1. This thankfully saves the world from an epidemic of Retribution Paladin players dancing naked on the streets in ecstatic celebration. He says that they are merely experimenting and that they wish to make Crusader Strike "more exciting," but ultimately feel that some sort of reverse Mortal Strike wasn't the way to go about it. Crushed Retribution hopes and dreams aside, the good news is that Crusader Strike is going to be improved. Blizzard is working on it, and the change sneaking unintentionally into the PTR gives players a sneak peek into the developers' thought process. Even if we don't see the change happen in Patch 3.1, I think it's safe to say that Retribution Paladins have something to be excited about. The rest of you who play another class, you can put down your pitchforks now.

I'm so glad that this is happening. In your face ret pallies!!! Warriors still rule.
Graham Mar 24th 2009 12:13AM
You're glad that we're being buffed? Because warriors rule? In our face?
Huh?

I love the people who think whatever class I choose to play is indicative of who I am as a person. Like it's some kind of grade school bullery, "I GOT A A, IN YOUR FACE DUMMY PALADIN". Do these statements apply to people who've gone through the game with multiple classes? Oh the irony of a warrior who also played a paladin is just too much. Telling yourself in effect to shut up.

Just what pallys need, more buffs.
It's not like they don't dominate every aspect of the game already.
Emma Mar 23rd 2009 11:46PM
No they don't... ever seen a ret raid? Ever seen a ret in top ranked arena teams (hint: they're holy)?
BTW I'm a druid, and I have no paladin alts :)
Kakistocracy Mar 24th 2009 1:55PM
Emma, the last ten person nax run I did had three ret pallies as top dps, that may not be typical, but most people I know raid with at least one ret pally who does quite a bit of damage.
While I never claim my experiences are the standard by which the human experience is measured...
Sometimes it isn't that far off.

This is bullcrap.
Tainnym Mar 24th 2009 12:02AM
Oh... HELL YES!
So warriors can break my bubble with their new skill? Now I get to cripple ALL casters and judging them to hell!
Believe me... now that Paladins know that the WoW team is experimenting on this, we WILL make sure that this goes live!
MWAHAHAHA!
:P

I love how people are getting butt-hurt over Ret buffs. But, by all means, keep thinking that they are OP. Watch your damage meter next time you raid and let me know where the Ret pally is on it.
And besides, Crusader Strike is such as 'blah" ability for a 41-POINT TALENT! I dare you to find another 41- point talent that is worse.
Snapjak Mar 24th 2009 12:22AM
Deep freeze for raiding dps on a frost mage.. talk about yech
BuzzDX Mar 24th 2009 1:10AM
Damn, that is worse, lol. I forgot about that.

41 point talent. Totally useless, just about all the time.
Malkeior Mar 24th 2009 7:51AM
Trap Mastery isn't a 41 point talent.
Zach Mar 24th 2009 7:52AM
@Malkeior - I believe it actually is a 41-pt. talent on live realms, albeit one that Blizzard has admitted to being a placeholder for the time being.
Assisthock9 Mar 24th 2009 1:46PM
umm... look at the arms warrior's 41 point talents... even sudden death has gone to the blah side... wanna talk about an under performing raid spec? lets look at arms a bit more eh? damn ret pallies need to stay where they're good in the BG's... pallies are for tanking and healing... and pwning people in bg's well... until we warriors bust the shit out your bubble =)
Kaimie Mar 24th 2009 9:43AM
"So warriors can break my bubble with their new skill? "
Wat?
Assisthock9 Mar 24th 2009 1:53PM
yeap and we're all drooling for the chance... because killing you once wasn't hard enough you bastards...
Chester Mar 24th 2009 12:24AM
This would really be of no benefit to pure raiders. What do I care if I can reduce a players damage and healing spells?
Tumleren Mar 24th 2009 6:23AM
"Ghostcrawler was quick to prevent mass hysteria by saying that this change will not make it into Patch 3.1."
Have half the posters in here not read that sentence?
Zeplar Mar 24th 2009 12:25AM
Well imo, "reverse mortal strike" sounds pretty interesting. Instead of stopping someone from being healed by anyone, you stop one person from healing everyone.
The only qualm I have is that there are already too many ways to shit on healers, and I would prefer that this new mechanic replace another Mortal Strike mechanic, probably Aimed Shot. So, I don't think another class should have Mortal Strike, but I think this version should be put in the game somehow, replacing a different mortal strike.
