^This.
Grand Marshal gear always made me drool everytime I saw someone wearing it in the few months I started playing before BC came out. That armor set was TRULY epic-looking.

Better strategy: Get Ruby Void and Emerald Void at the same time by using only Amber Drakes.
Strategy:
The group has to be divided a certain way for this to work. I'll do my best to explain it.
You're going to have one person that will always channel by himself, the others four will always channel together. The single person I will call the Primer, the rest will be The Rest. Crazy, huh?
1. The Primer immediately begins channeling Temporal Rift.
2. The Rest fire one Shock Lance, then begin channeling Temporal Rift.
3. As soon as The Primer sees the four rifts, he fires a Shock Lance and then begins channeling a Temporal Rift.
4. When The Rest see The Primer begin channeling again, they fire a Shock Lance and then begin channeling a Temporal Rift again.
Continue this cycle til Eregos is dead. If all goes well, every drake should be doing ~141k damage on every strike after the first round. Keep this up and he goes down VERY fast (in fact, this strategy is essentially required for the Make it Count achievement).
You will also need a Time Stop cycle setup to prevent Eregos and the whelps from killing you. As soon as the whelps spawn, the first person will pop Time Stop. When it wears off, the second person will pop Time Stop. The goal is to keep Time Stop up throughout the fight.
Eregos will still phase shift, and when he does it's the same strat of simply running from the orbs he spawns. As soon as he comes back into the normal plane, start at step 1 again and begin the Time Stop cycle again.

This is the strat our group used and was successful with. It took us a few tries (probably a dozen or so) but it was worth it for our guildies' reactions.

Yeah, it requires some good group synchronization and for everyone to be paying attention. But once you get the hang of it, it's really effective.
