A Gnome
Death Knight appropriately named
Nutshell from Mug'thol reported on the forums that he had completed the requirements for the upcoming
Achievement Insane in the Membrane. The Achievement, to be implemented in
Patch 3.1, requires a character to gain Exalted reputation with the Steamwheedle Cartel (Everlook, Booty Bay, Ratchet, and Gadgetzan), Darkmoon Faire, Ravenholdt, the Shen'dralar, and Honored with the Bloodsail Buccaneers. Unlocking this Achievement also rewards the fitting title 'the Insane', arguably one of the
cooler titles in the new patch.
Most of the faction reputations listed aren't easy to grind, particularly the little known Ravenholdt faction in Hillsbrad Foothills. Most players who have been playing for years are unlikely to have considerable reputation with them nor the come-and-go Darkmoon Faire and the Dire Maul-based Shen'dralar. It's an impressive feat for any character, and even more impressive for a Death Knight -- Nutshell might possibly be the first one to complete it. Considering
Loremaster Nutshell has 5870 Achievement points to date, it's probably not that surprising the player made the grind. To all of this, Bornakk simply responded,
"you're insane."Tags: Achievements, Bloodsail-Buccaneers, Booty-Bay, Cypress-Hill, Darkmoon-Faire, Death-Knight, Everlook, Gadgetzan, Insane-in-the-Membrane, Nutshell, patch-3.1, patch31, ptr, ptr-3.1, ptr-patch-3.1, public-test-realm, Ratchet, Ravenholdt, Shendralar, The-Insane, wow-patch-3.1, wow-ptr

Wow...

I am not impressed. Death Knights have an easier job due to their reputation upon creation. Not sure what I am talking about? Make one, and take a look.
Any other class, I was call insane. For a Death Knight, it's like winning the special olympics. You're a winner in first place, but you're still retarded.
Zerokku Mar 25th 2009 5:37PM
How so? The only thing that might be slightly easier is the bloodsail, if only because they havn't done any goblin quests at any point. But a normal character could get to 80 without doing any either so your point is moot.
How about you stop hating on people just because they choose to play a class they want to.
Cillus Mar 25th 2009 5:42PM
Zerroku: Hating haters is still being a hater. Look out everyone, internet tough guy coming through.
Zerokku Mar 25th 2009 5:50PM
@ Cillus
So pointing out the fallacy of his argument, and then asking him to stop being a bigot somehow makes me an internet tough guy?
lolwut?
Sorry for disliking the fact that people will look down on other real people simply because they play a certain class or faction in a GAME. =/
Cillus Mar 25th 2009 5:51PM
You feel the need to justify yourself. How cute
Jason Mar 25th 2009 5:58PM
@The Lords Breed I concur. It is significantly easier to do this on a DK. I might try it some day on my main (who is not a DK), but the combination of BSB and Steamwheedle Cartel rep grinds are the real hurdle for someone who leveled doing quests in Duskwallow Marsh, STV, Tanaris nd Winterspring (like me) before there even were achievements.
PeeWee Mar 25th 2009 6:00PM
You say that "Death Knights have an easier job". Please elaborate on how it'd be "retarded" to get this achievment as Death Knight? Just because it's easier it makes them retarded? Would that also mean that every blood elf that's exalted with the Scryers is? And all the draenei exalted with the Aldor? Perhaps everyone playing a human character is too, since they have the 10% bonus?
Fail.
LandMineHare Mar 25th 2009 6:51PM
Not to take away the gnome's thunder (Well, yes, I hate gnomes, and gnome DKs are not funny, clever, or interesting in the slightest I wish you people would just stop talking about them all together)

I think she might have beat him too it. Not sure though. I'm possibly wrong.
Zach Mar 25th 2009 7:02PM
@LandMineHare - She's a Mage. Possibly been around for years. We're talking about a Death Knight, created no earlier than 5 months ago. I'm sure there are plenty of players out there who have will unlock the Achievement as soon as 3.1 goes live. The remarkable thing about this story is that it's a Death Knight.
Kolo Mar 25th 2009 8:14PM
Crap replied earlier to the wrong person.
Zach this is not more impressive for a Death Knight. Most other characters have already got Goblin Rep, so its much harder for them to lose it & have to regain it via grinding. DKs can just get back to neutral and still have a few hundred Goblin Quests to make the road to exalted easier.
Still VERY impressive, but I don't buy the argument it's harder for a Death Knight.
Zach Mar 25th 2009 8:16PM
That may be true, but a lot of players (including the Mage linked above) have had years to work on the other reputations. This guy had five months. Maybe less considering the Achievement was only revealed maybe two months ago. He DOES have a lot of free time...
Kolo Mar 25th 2009 9:08PM
hehe I guess, but I'm one of those lazy students with 4 days off a week lol. Managed to get 4 factions exalted last week alone :p
Turlagh Mar 25th 2009 9:44PM
Yes! Insane! Definitely insane!
Edgewalker Mar 26th 2009 1:08AM
It really isn't that much harder for a non-DK, it;s like an extra hour or two at most. I just got Bloodsail Admiral with some guildies and we grouped up and tore Booty Bay a new one. It didn't take that long, and even the person who had quested in every goblin town possible got it done in one night.
The other factions are where it gets harder. The SWC and BSB Factions are kinda easy.
Bushz Mar 26th 2009 1:29AM
In a nutshell...sad..
If you wanna waste time, I got washing and ironing that needs to be done..*hands it over*
Slaytanic Mar 26th 2009 3:18AM
Everyone keeps commenting on the Cartel/Bloodsail rep, but what about the insanity of Darkmoon Faire rep? I stopped getting rep from them from turn-ins a LONG time ago, and I'm only friendly. The only way I see to get rep with them is to do the rare fortune teller quest (which only has a slight chance to drop once an hour), and only gives 75 rep per turn-in.
Of course, there's always Darkmoon deck turn-ins for 350 each.
I don't know about the decks on YOUR servers, but on mine they go from 1000-3000g EACH. (the older decks). That comes to around 280,000g worth of deck turn-ins.
In 5 months?
Am I missing something here?
kolo Mar 26th 2009 7:18AM
You can buy "rogues", "mages" deck, etc. Give 25 rep each, so takes around 1700 of them, made via inscription. Can be found for a few silver on some realms if you're lucky. Easy Peasy. I got to about Honored and gave up though as I don't need it for 40 Exalted anymore.
Slaytanic Mar 26th 2009 3:19AM
P.S. Thunderfury sounds easier to get.
TokenChick Mar 26th 2009 11:12AM
I did the Admiral Achievement grind before Wrath even came out, and I'm not sure how far up into Bloodsail rep I got. I can bet all my wow gold it wasn't honored though. AFTER I got the title, I worked on Loremaster, did all the goblin quests towards the EK quest count and re-established hated status with Bloodsail.
So... in order for me to get this achievement I would have to grind the Bloodsail rep AGAIN, turn in cloth for the goblin rep AGAIN, and still do all the grinding for Ravenholt, DMF and the DM faction.
